my understanding is dont have any swap so set to 0mbI most likely shoud have asked this before I partitioned but didn't....I forget what I selected for swap but I do know it wasn't 0mb ...what should have been selected for swap?..btw I made the partition 2024mb ext4 if that makes a difference as to what the swap value should be ....Thankz Hroark
Good evening all!
Well, I have a question as if no one already knew that and it pertains to the installation of the "Hroarkernal" only. Thus far all I have found after much searching of this and many other threads is info on the installation of the ported CWM provided by Mr. Hroark. What I'd like to know is how to install "only" the hroark 1.2 kernel without CWM. I am currently running the most recent CWM as linked in the thread as well as ShabbyMod 0.9 since it is the most stable from what I've read. I'm currently trying to weigh out the pros/cons of both Hroark and Shabby kernels. I am a long time Linux/BSD user and am looking forward to maximizing my phone to it's highest potential. Thank you to any and all who work to make this hardware as awesome as it's becoming and long live the GPL/GNU license!!
With much admiration and respect,
joefanelli
i kind of packaged the CWM and Kernel together for the ext4 support
so the hroakerenel 1.2 has the latest CWM
you should just flash both, and then if you want shabby kernel, flash that on top on my kernel
First please pardon if I am not meeting your forum etiquette, please advise if I am doing anything wrong.
Wow, talk about fast support! If only Microshaft was handling business like you. Just to make sure I totally understand. If I followed the directions in your "ClockWorkMod updated 9-12-11" thread to install the "HROARKERNEL 1.2 and CWM rev 4 flashable with Odin" then I should in application have not only the ported CWM installed but also operating with "Hroarkernal" as my running UI kernel? If it helps my kernel number does not reflect anything to indicate it is custom, modified or in any way not the stock kernel.
Thank you for answering my questions sir it is much appreciated.

it is the stock kernel, we cant compile a booting kernel yet, but we can make mods to the ramdisk that the kernel loads, my kernel adds ext4 and init.d support, but the kernel version will say the same version
If you used hroark's kernel and the modified dark tremor found on the forum it will work. However at this time you do need to mount both the /system and the /data partitions before going to the flash zip menu.Ah yes, ok that does make sense. After reading that you used shabby kernel for you ported CWM I assumed (which is usually a poor decision) that there was no modified kernel due to the lack of echo in the info report from system settings. I recently attempted a darktremr A2SD mod and it failed, also why I had assumed there was something a miss. Should I direct this question to another thread or is this an acceptable area to ask this question?
Again, thank you Hroark for you diligent responses and anyone else willing to help or critique this post.

i tested it again today to make sure and the only variety that needs to be manually mounted is the ext4 format rom. all rfs systems will be mounted properly by the zip. the betas are killing me but i'm working on moving /data/data to sd also to free the maximum amount of internal. the latest titanium has an option for this on a per app basis but my results with that have been less than pleasing. hopefully i can finish working this out this weekend. it's been a while since i had a new big mod for this phone. If you used hroark's kernel and the modified dark tremor found on the forum it will work. I tried it without mounting even on the rfs and had less luck. Thanks so much for all the help gentlemen! Sorry for the delayed response, work has been hard. I believe I'm going to go ahead and get everything backed up (both Nandroid and Titanium) and give it another go. Btw Hroark, from what I've been reading there is currently no support for CIQ removal in your current kernel version. Am I correct about this or did I miss something in the Forum?
I do apologize Hroark for not wording myself properly earlier. What I meant to reference was the Carrier IQ Removerbeing developed by blood dawn and whether or not you or anyone else has had any success in applying said to a Prevail using your kernel. I'll try not to write these right after working sixteen hours lol. Sorry again all.
Thanks and truly appreciated!

I am using Simple Blue with CIQ removed, on HK 1.2. It works fine for me, you just have to go about installing it a certain way(I think) which I have posted a few times in Bloodawn's thread on his theme, and so has he. If you have any trouble getting it to work on HK 1.2 just shoot me a PM and I will try to help you out.
Good luck!
(Thanks again Hroark, especially for the init.d support)
