Root [ROM] Mik3D - RC1- [10/31/2011]

Still my favorite Sense rom, though I am trying Mik2.52 now and trying to give it a fair shake.

I wonder when this one will be finalized? Seems like this Amik dev has a lot of irons in the fire and might not even have time to finish it...

I hope he does though. I can't remember what bugs are left except maybe Hdmi and the 720p camcorder setting. I sure would like to see it have the new ota fixes incorporated like he did for 2.5 too.

Greedy, I guess. :)

Yea I love this ROM too. I would love to see all the new updates incorporated and known bugs fixed. Oh and for this stupid problem I have to go away lol

Yeah, i know, read about ur problem. Think I know where they went, running 2.52 over here and I have duplicates of everything listed.

Been waiting for someone to tell you some magical solution but I am thinking that nandroid is looking better by the minute. :)

So I Thought I'd post this here too... since r3chargeD is based on Mik3d....

So I just flashed this (r3chargeD) on my wife's phone and it's amazing so far! One question though... My wife chose the wrong program the first time she hit the PHONE rosie key on the home screen and is stuck with the wrong dialer as a default. I have looked everywhere and cannot find how to reset which program is used. Anybody have a clue?

It's not the phone button on the lockscreen, but the one on the rosies that always float at the bottom on your HomeScreen... I can adjust the lockscreen one just fine, but not the regular phone button...:(

Anybody?

Ok, wierd scenario. Today my camera and camcorder apps icon shows the generic green android icon and do nothing when i try to usw them. It appears the apps have vanished from the phone. Everything has been great sense installing this rom. I tried to restore it from titanium bu but at the end it said "application not installed".

Got the answer over on mikmik... thought I'd post it here in case anybody else has the same problem...

Look in Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All, then find the app that it's currently using. Tap on it and then toward the bottom there should be a "Clear defaults" button. Tap that and then the next time you press the button, it should ask you again which one you want to use.

Thanks to Jadeboy7 on Mikmik for the answer....

BTW, I had to reboot after clearing all the defaults (from Phone, Dialer, and GoDialer) without rebooting, it wouldn't let me pick programs again...

Thanx again!

Resolved. Not sure why it happened, but I nandroid backup as well as Titanium backup and reflashed the ROM and then restored the Nandroid from a week ago and all is good with the cam and camcorder. I restored missing apps with Titanium backup as well with no problems.

Im still curious as to why the apps just vanished.

So I wiped cache and dalvik and re-flashed the ROM and the problem is still there.

I fixed my problem by restoring a nandroid and all is well. Funny thing is there had not been any changes to my phone since making that nandroid. Oh well it is Beta after all lol.

@ redheadtarn,
I did read about that over at the mikmik, I was going to post the solution here, but I saw you found the answer. That same fix works for launchers as well. ;)

I apologize but at this point all the ROM's are starting to look the same to me. Can you post some of the differences you notice and your experience w/ the ROM? Thanks in advance.

AGREED. Seems every time I DL a ROM it looks almost the same as the one I'm replacing...not saying the ROMs aren't great & all that....but they do all look the same.

Yes..as much as the 3d scrolling thing is cool..I am wondering what the best and most stable MIkROM is. My only problem with people who flash roms a lot is that they honeymoon each one nd tell you its awesome and then they switch in 2 weeks.

I m not like that and just want the most stable bug free mikROM out there.

I rooted my phone about a month ago, had the stock rom for about a day and have had the mik3d rom since. I did a lot of reading and lingered around the forums to see what everyone was saying about roms and decided on the MiK3d beta. The only thing I have changed is I have tried out about every kernal available for gingerbread(trial and error to see which one is best for me). I have never had any problems with this rom. If problems exist I have not experienced them or they are not big enough to notice and be a nuisance. I do notice that there are some bugs that can be improved or fixed but like every one had said it is a beta so I'm sure they will be fixed. I just didn't want to go from rom to rom and then start experiencing problems. I found a rom that fits and everything else that comes with being rooted I have benefited from. But if you want a rom I think you should go with the mik3d and when it emerges from beta I think it will be a killer rom. As far as force closes go I think I have had only a couple, enough to be able to count them on one hand. I have read horror stories about other roms and the amount of problems some guys had with them on their phones.

I am doing what oyu are doing..(im)patiently waiting on final version.

I am not that into ROMs (luckily). Just happy to have a phone that is MUCH better than the stock version.

Im about to switch over from Mikg 2.5 and was wondering if there are any patches that I must download in addition to the direct Download of mik3d B1. I searched but couldn't find any.

mikg has a two patches 2.51 and 2.52. but you have to flash them in order. so basically flash 2.5 then 2.51 and last is 2.52. i would do a full wipe on 2.5, but on the other two patches i would only wipe dalvik cache and cache before flashing them.

I think he was referring to patches needed to properly flash Mik3d...not MikG. :D

Im sorry for my ignorance but what exactly is a patch. I was under the assumption that it was something that is added to the original ROM to either fix something or add something new??? As far as the mikg that would explain why my ROM was probably messing up. All I did was flash mikg 2.52 is that not right???

So I should have flashed mikg 2.5 then flashed mikg 2.51 then flashed mikg 2.52? Im kinda confused. When you flashe the newer version doesnt it just override the previously flashed ROM? Do you leave those ROMS on the SD as you flash the others?

Sorry for all the questions just trying to understand!!!!

Thank you for the help!!!!

I run MikG v2.52 pretty frequently, and when I updated I went from the base 2.50 to the 2.51 update, then to the 2.52 and I had no issues. I'm fairly certain if you do that you shouldn't have any issues. I also wiped Cache/Dalvik in between flashing the patches, not sure that you need to, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

If you were new to Mik then just flash the newest version it will have all the updates in it. Don't worry about anything else.

If you already had 2.5 and were going to get the latest versions just wipe dalvick and cache and then flash the new version.

As for Mik3D just download the current version, it is the most up to date as far as I know. :)

ok so we just had a new ota 4.53 about a month ago. this patch that mikg has is just one way of updating the rom. the patches contain the fixes that the latest ota introduced. that is all it is. most roms will usually not have patches. for some reason mik decided this is how he wants to go with it. rather then having to start from scratch and build his rom around the ota.

you do not have to flash the patches if you do not want to. i believe the first patch fixes the voice to text issue and i forget what 2.52 has. and once you flash anything, it does not matter what it is, once you are done, you can delete those files that are on your sd card. basically your phone takes those files unzips them and then copies them to the system partitions. this is what your recovery is programmed to do when you flash a file. once that is done the files on your card are no longer needed.

HELP..I am missing all my text messages still! They come in with no volume or vibration..I just wiped dalvick cache and cache...and they worked, but out of the blue stopped working again..what is the deal, and has anyone else dealt with this? Serious problem for me if I am not hearing texts coming through..please help!!

what messaging app are you using? try and unistall and re-install it. so apps can move the texts to the card as well.
