That's the bestlooking Motorola phone ever. Can it beat the Galaxy Nexus though? Nope. It comes up short.

No Ice Cream Sandwich
It has physical buttons
It doesn't look any thinner than the GNex, to me.
It doesn't have a Samsung screen, and doesn't have 720p resolution
(I think I covered most of it's shortcomings)

The only thing that I agree with is the 720p screen. Everything else is either a non-issue(hardware buttons) or can be overcome(install AOSP ICS some point in the future after root).

Honestly, I'm not sure why so many folks talk about the lack of hardware buttons as a positive. It gets a big fat "meh" from me.

Just spoke to the guy from Verizon at the Independent kiosk at the mall. He gets his information from android Central. I tried to convert him. I think he thinks I'm a clown. I told him who I was. He seemed extremely underwhelmed I guess I'm a legend in my own mind. Life goes on.

I was just to RadioShack. They have a $100 discount on all Verizon phones. You have to be eligible for it to your upgrade. I am only eligible for my last one year upgrade. They looked up my eligibility anyway. It turns out I'm eligible for a $50 discount off of the two-year price for the phone.

They also have a buyback program toward the purchase of your phone.

I just may go that way if my contact at Verizon loyalty doesn't come through with a $50 loyalty discount that he usually gets me.

For me $200 for phone is okay. 300 however is a bit steep.

Looks like I get my way. :-).

...CF causes rash?! I know it can be lethal to manufacture w/o proper ventilation, but I hadn't heard about rashes.

From my university days, dealing with the raw fiber is hell on your skin, although the rash might be more raw skin from the itching that the fibers cause. I would itch for a day or more after handling and working with that stuff.

Because most believe that no hardware buttons is the future of Android. Also, having more screen real estate is a big plus for many. If not having hardware buttons means that you can have a full 720p screen on a phone without it being absolutely humongous (you can fit an HD screen at 4.65" into a phone that normally would have a 4.3" screen if it had hardware buttons.) That means more screen and a better viewing experience in a smaller package. That is the future, and that's what most of us here are excited about, among other things.

Regarding the new Motorola phone. Ours has already told us that the battery life is a bit better. We also know however that the features of the prime far outweigh the features of the Motorola phone.

This is a ready information we were given.

The experience of the prime far outweighs the experience of having a Motorola. As I understand if the Motorola phone is progress. The Samsung phone is next generation.

can anyone explain to me why people are beginning to treat capacitive buttons like they are useless and if they are on a phone, it must be an old, washed up design? i for one dont mind the capacitive buttons, just one less thing to have to tap or double tap on the screen to pull up

edit: ninjad by the answer 2 posts above

I get that, but considering that you'll have the software buttons up pretty frequently, that reclaimed screen real estate is not really reclaimed. Keeping up the real estate metaphor, it's more of an easement on your property ;)

Not to mention that the bezel that may or may not be used to "activate" the software buttons is plenty big enough to place those hardware button. If this render had hardware buttons in the bezel, you'd have 720p all the time without the software buttons taking up that space some of the time. (Edit: assuming the render is at all accurate of course).

Which mall? I'm also from the great state of New Jersey.

You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting.

Speaking of RadioShack, I just realized I have a $50 discount to any store in my mall. My sister bought me a $50 gift card to the mall for my birthday. I theoretically could get this phone for under 150

Steven: Tell me you didn't slip into the Apple store again, just to browse!

As an aerospace engineer, I LOVE the carbon fiber look though. But man can it give you a rash. (Carbon Fiber that is, can't tell you about the phone yet).

I'm a huge carbon fiber fan too. I put a quite a bit under the hood of my Shelby GT500. It would be cool to have a matching phone. :)

Don't know about you but i'll be having my buttons off to get the full screen more than having them on. I hardly go into app tray since my most used icons are on the homescreen.

Personally, I think for all you've done for us letting things slip out from your love tunnel, I think the forum owes you the remainder $150 balance on your new phone.

Should we start a poll? How many people are willing to chip in a $1 for Steven's love tunnel sharing?

That's legal in Jersey right?

If every design aspect of the Galaxy Nexus is bleh to you, then I must ask...Why are you here? If the Nexus isn't the phone you want, that's fine. Keep shopping. Maybe the Razr will fit you best since you're already used to Motorola phones.

Agreed. And who knows bootloader situation, etc. But if Verizon screws us on the Galnexusaurus and we don't get it (I'm 99% sure I'll be happy tomorrow evening, but nobody does the take-a-dump-on-your-head bit quite like Verizon), at least there's a nice fall back option.

IT IS a Samsung AMOLED+(not pentile) qHD display as far as the rumors go(say it's samsung because if it is AMOLED as the rumors state it HAS to be and the Pentile LCD's they have been using are a Samsung deal also). Only real display short coming is the smaller size. Bootloader is a big question mark, but Moto promised a solution to this by years end. I think there are also rumors this and the vigor could be some of the first phones NOT launching with ICS that will get the update to it.

I personally just have to see the 4.65" screen next to this one to really have an easy time deciding. Pretty sure ICS will be a given once it's in the AOSP for any of these new phones and I am not too impatient about having that.

And they just LOVE smacking their stupid logo on the front in huge type, instead of making the screen a bit bigger.

I like the corners. Makes it look Star Trek-ish.

And the Galnexusaurus will have a hump too, remember. Just on the bottom instead of the top.

Yeah, but it won't protrude as much (at least it doesn't look like it does), and looks much nicer/sexier if those pics of the "Gus" are real.

ok, i know im new here but after reading this i have a point that i believe has some merit regarding this...

does it concern anyone else that a moto device assumed to be running GB and a moto skin with bloat can have a bit better battery life than the nexus with a vanilla ICS?? it would seem to me that battery life is one of the top 3 things most of us use to help decide which phone to buy, and if it turns out that the bootloader is unlocked where a vanilla ICS can easily be ported over to the razr, the battery life would improve even more over the nexus and it may be worth consideration

Well that seemed to take a nasty turn. I'm still definitely interested in the Nexus, I was just defending my position about software buttons versus hardware buttons. Which is actually more a point being made about ICS, not really the Nexus.
