That is a really sexy phone. ICS is drawing me closer to the Nexus though.
Agree 100%. Although I feel bad for the Bionic owners. Poor guys.

Was just wishful thinking on ban-proofing by way of mod-flattering.
The 4460 tech ref manual describes a half dozen registers/features as included for backwards compatibility w/4430, and I'm sure you're right about improvements for heat dissipation.
But we did have a poster some dozens of pages ago who seemed highly plugged into the industry and reported that TI confirmed immediate volume shipment of 1.5GHz 4460 w/o any delays.
There were indeed Archos G9 delays due to unavailability of 1.5GHz 4460, but the poster implies that doesn't affect Nexus shipping.
Eh, looks Greek to me. [/American educational system]
Well gotta give it to Moto, when they find a design they like, they stick to it.

Actually I don't like the look, especially the 4 corners (Photon-like). I don't want that hump in the back either; I know my X has that hump, but I think I've had enough of it![]()

Just spoke to the guy from Verizon at the Independent kiosk at the mall. He gets his information from android Central. I tried to convert him. I think he thinks I'm a clown. I told him who I was. He seemed extremely underwhelmed I guess I'm a legend in my own mind. Life goes on.

That's the bestlooking Motorola phone ever. Can it beat the Galaxy Nexus though? Nope. It comes up short.
No Ice Cream Sandwich
It has physical buttons
It doesn't look any thinner than the GNex, to me.
It doesn't have a Samsung screen, and doesn't have 720p resolution
(I think I covered most of it's shortcomings)

Is anyone else disappointed with the supposed plastic back? I was really hoping for metal this time. the gnex is going to be "futuristic plastic" lmao what does that even mean?

Might some outfit create an aftermarket metal back? Maybe?

You're looking at it the wrong way.
Signing a two-year contract is your payment for that subsidizing of the phone.
You aren't paying twice for the phone. You're either paying the full price, or paying the subsidized price PLUS locking yourself into a contract. Haven't you ever signed a contract or seen pricing for other businesses? Cable companies do this all the time - lock into a two year agreement and we'll <give you something/discount your bill/whatever>. That's because they're not really subsidizing it - you're paying for it by giving them a guaranteed revenue stream for two years, which is a LOT different from having a bunch of capricious customers who could walk away at any time.
Accounting and revenue numbers look MUCH better when you have guaranteed revenue. So they're willing to give up something for that. Conversely, paying full retail for a phone is the payoff for the ability to own your phone and walk at any time. You aren't paying twice - you're either paying once for the phone, or taking a discount but trading off your options.
this guy has Batman Arkym City on reserve at Game Stop. I can't wait. Arkym Asylum was a great game.
...i'm just trying to figure out if i want to get it on the PS3 or Xbox.
looks prety slick for sure!!
General question: For those of you out there who have had a Sammy, an HTC and a Moto Android phone, what would you say are the 1-2 biggest pros for each? I have a Dinc right now and like pretty much everything except the phone. That is going to weigh heavily in my decision re: Prime or RAZR, if either has a markedly better phone. Any other key hardware or other pros endemic to each brand?
Agreed mostly. But rumors said its screen is qHD SAMOLED, probably from Samsung. Odd thing is Sammy never used qHD SAMOLED yet in their phones.
But past performance doesn't necessarily translate into current performance. For example, HTC relies on Snapdragon SoC, which are horrid on battery life, but if they switch to something else, or Qualcomm comes up with a better version, then the story will be different.
Dual core and bloatware removal to the rescue.
I easily exceed a day's use and I'm running Sense 3.
Don't expect this trying for nonstop 3g browsing or 3D game playing, but on a day of light / medium use, I go 18 hours with 50% battery left.
Leaves plenty of room for overclocking and still exceed a day's use.
Buddies with the SGS2 report similar.
Just saying.![]()
I TOTALLY get your point here, and I agree, usually. However, the Bionic basically being replaced by a full touchscreen phone of the same form factor that is basically exactly what the Bionic SHOULD have been, in just a couple months, that is blasphemy. I honestly can't believe Motorola/Verizon did it. I think it's shameful.
Maybe the Nexus is why Archos is not getting them when planned, but strange why TI never refuted' Archos assertions. Perhaps more sensible for TI to just say "whatever" and take Samsungs money.
As an aerospace engineer, I LOVE the carbon fiber look though. But man can it give you a rash. (Carbon Fiber that is, can't tell you about the phone yet).
