Nope. This will be one clean baby!

nice Pics. Saw those, just didnt compute. I cant imagine they will not have Samsung or Verizon on the phones somewhere....

Heres to hoping.

They say there were problems with pushing it to 1.5 GHz, but there's no telling what that means - for production, they basically need 100% of the chips to be capable of 1.5 GHz, so it may mean that 97% of the chips are perfectly fine at that speed.

Well put, but I'd rather have the manufacturer's certification that a given frequency is attainable within heat limits. But psychologically, it'll be fun for overclockers who can hit bigger heights starting from a lower baseline. :)

Could the fact that this is hardware accelerated hurt the benchmarks? Not that I place any stock in synthetic benchmarks.

Not likely. I don't think the GUI interface is actively doing anything (accelerated or otherwise) while a game or a 3D benchmark is running. It could speed up certain app benchmarks that do regular screen displaying and scrolling, but that would be an accurate representation that those things really are faster w/ICS!

This device is a PHONE and apps that are used in the phone relatated area. This device is NOT a gameboy,etc...:p

The device is whatever the customers want it to be. Lots of inventions start out targeted to one audience/purpose only to achieve big success when customers discover an unexpected feature.

Or a better question, should we wait for the benchmark apps to be adapted to the newest SDK such that they properly utilize the hardware through ICS to provide more real world scores? Answer: Yes.

Eh, I think that's wishful thinking. Don't forget the games themselves will take some time to adapt to ICS, assuming there even are in-game benefits to be attained.

While your pics gives me hope, I also know better than to take that as final... they might have assembled this one using the HSPA+ version's front, instead of the VZW one that will have their crap all over it.

Ok CK - er, I mean Antimony - :p - seriously, why would they put the VZW on the back and HSPA+ on the front? That doesn't make any sense. It would take more effort to do it that way than it would to simply pick up a phone and take the stupid video.

I hope I never get thrown in jail with you guys. I'll kill myself.

Respectfully suggest Flex T9 instead, available in the Market. Many of us believe it's a better swipe than Swype and it's got the best voice recognition in the market (Dragon), hand's down.

By far, my favorite keyboard I've used to date.

I know this isn't the right place for a random "chances of getting an early phone swap post"

BUT

Would you guys suggest going to VZW and proving that my phone hardware is a POS or trying to call them again until they're so butthurt with me that they give in?

If u fail at first, try and try again. Its all about talking to the right person. It has happened for me b4 but it took several calls to get the right person.:o

And its better just calling 611

Except that all things aren't equal so more isn't better in this case.

Do we have full specs for this camera vs the iPhone 4S? image quality comparisons? vs the 8MP camera in the iPhone 4S? Clearly we must because you seem very sure.

And frankly, that makes perfect sense to me. My HTPC setup feeding my 1080p TV has a Intel GPU that is absolutely hated by the gaming community.

Even 1080p video plays smoothly on my Galaxy S II, I'm not sure I buy this as reason for using SGX540 again.

My needs are met with my Droid. I don't even need a new smartphone. My Droid works perfectly and does what I need it to do. Most people here don't NEED a new smartphone UNLESS their current one is on the verge of death or is in the process of dying

My wants on the other hand are a whole different thing :)

This is all about wants not needs :)

You are right. I shouldn't have said need. No one needs these toys.

I should have said "Why do you really want a better processor/GPU over what is being offered? Is it for a specific reason or just a measuring contest?"

;)

hey not fair...I never said that lol.

I'm waiting for it as well.

Hey wait CK, yesterday you said you wanted the Razor, today you said you wanted the Note and then again today you said you didn't need any phone that your OG Droid was just fine, so now you have changed your position again back to Verizon's Galaxy Nexus that is likely to be a watered down bloat filled below expectations device?

Great to have you back...:D

Nice! That seals it for me. I won't be playing games on it, but I'll be watching movies and HD shows on it.

Now, does anyone know if a simple micro-USB to HDMI adapter cable will work, to mirror netflix to my big screen?

I'm not hopeful on this thing having MHL, since I haven't heard anything about it yet.

My Blu-ray player and TV both have a USB port on them. I'm wondering if just using the normal charging cable (micro USB -> USB) will work to connect the device. I can play 1080p videos from devices when attached via USB, but I don't know think that would work for streaming content (like Netflix). Then again, I can just stream Netflix through my Blu-ray or TV so this charging cable/USB solution will probably be good enough for my needs.

Hey don't lump me with him, I am not in doubt that it is coming to Verizon, just don't think we will get away with having a phone without the verizon logo on it somewhere.

-- and apparently neither is CK anymore, welcome to the light man.

So with NFC tech incorporated in the battery (this is an assumption based on NFC labeling on the battery) could this potentially mean that future phones could "add-on" NFC functionality by simply buying a NFC-enabled battery? If so, we could potentially see more NFC-capable phones in the near future than we would have otherwise--that is if people see it as useful/cool/iPhone-beating.

My guess is no, that you'd need to design the physical and software interface to the battery to accomodate. But I really don't know, and it's a fascinating idea! What I do suspect is that replacement and extended batteries for Nexus will probably be expensive and maybe also delayed. :(

Yeah I wouldn't consider him a source anymore. He should have mentioned that he hasn't touched the phone in months when he first started sharing his "information". He was giving us info like it was all up to date news...

I agree. Whether or not the source ended up being 90% right is less important than our ability to judge their reliability, and 3mo is a loooooong time in development. This source should have been up front about how old their info was.

Correct. You can mount your phone to TV or BD player like any other USB device and play slideshows or vids. No streaming that way, but you have that covered by other means.

Mods, pls feel free to move this post to Nexus/camera thread...

Correct. And being able to crop has very little if anything to do with megapixel's.

Actually it can matter. If the lens/sensor can resolve details finer than the number of pixels captured (unlikely in any phone camera), then having a larger original image would've been better for cropping.

Agreed. And the presenters last night made a point of emphasizing the camera's great low-light performance, which may have contributed to their decision to go 5MP instead of 8.

Count me among those who've been startled to see crappy Nexus photos w/lots of noise. I'm wondering if the zero-lag photos only happen w/flash off.
