not sure if this has already been debunked, but i just checked out vzw under my line(currently eligible for an upgrade) and it still shows my prce as $249.99, so i hope the gnex does this too![]()
I think that $50 difference comes from the "customer loyalty" discount.
I called about 3 weeks ago because there's been an "early upgrade" on my account ever since the Bionic was released. That early upgrade allows me to get a new phone for the subsidized price ($299.99), but if I wait until my "real" upgrade, which is in March of 2012, I will be able to get a phone for $249.99 because of the "customer loyalty" discount mentioned before.
I dont understand the hardware in this phone...
Is it true that the GPU is weaker than the galaxy S II?
aaaahhhh ok, is this something akin to what they have replaced the NE2 with?
Chief what have you been smoking in your peace pipe?Good morning Gnexers!
Is Verizon stuck in a real quandary here?
No doubt they wanted to push the RAZR as THE phone to get. Motorola being their preferred OEM, they were going to sink their marketing resources into selling RAZRs. But: now they have seen the absolute FIRESTORM of support and demand for Nexus from us, they're bewildered as to which one to market the most heavily! After all, they owe their stockholders money... and they HAVE to go where the money is, despite their desire for locked-down, controlled phones.
Now Verizon sees the mega-dollar signs hanging over Nexus and modest demand for RAZR, at best. And they're shifting gears in a hurry.
What has happened? We've all been waiting for the game-changer. Folks, it's looking more and more like we ARE the game-changer. I would like to think that our demand for this phone has Verizon reacting to US for once... not the other way around.
What think you?
Passed on Gnex![]()
Kindred spirits, we are.![]()

Passed on Gnex![]()
Musings:
The developer/modder community really, really mostly wants the G-Nex, as reflected by the size of the particular new phone threads. The excitement and the enthusiasm resides squarely with this thread, mostly. Personally, I'm done with an encrypted bootloader.
Face it, however, we comprise only a small part of the general buying public. It will be very interesting how actually sales pan out. It will be very interesting how the user experience pans out, as well. I just can't wait to see this screen!![]()
The sales are going to go the way marketing and (just as important) what the in store CSR likes (or is told to push) goes...
That said I haven't seen the much marketing pushing EITHER phone yet... (and by this I mean commercials where your masses learn about phones)
Until Google spends a lot of $$$ marketing the Nexus it will remain a niche device and then they have to make it appealing to the masses. Vanilla Android is quite boring to the average consumer.

I am leaning toward the razr now also. I think the nexus may be a little to large. Plus some insiders said the razr has much better battery life than the nexus. Let us all know how you like the razr and how the battery life is please![]()

Obviously not the good stuff that YOU'RE smokin'
CK, you have pre-ordered the RAZR. You're a RAZR guy. In a Nexus thread. And while I appreciate your opinion, I would remind you that NONE of us were smartphone experts when we first got shopping for smartphones. But people get smarter on them as they buy & use them.
If Verizon puts a Nexus alongside RAZR in the store, with equivalent pricing and specs displayed, I can guarantee you that many non-techies will be swayed away from the "heavily marketed" phone in favor of the "better" one.
(Disclaimer coming, and here it is: )
I'm not saying that Nexus is better than RAZR... it's just different in a good way. RAZR is more heavily constructed and comes with enterprise capabilities built in and a proven, mature OS. But Nexus differs in that it's "cooler" (no capacitive buttons) and has a newer OS out of the box. They're both snappy and will appeal to a lot of people... but I maintain that more people are going to buy Nexus than you may think.
Prolly not, Its most likely those like myself still in the NE2 program.
My contract is up 1/1/12 and I have a NE2 & $50.00 LD pending. And am lucky enough to be grandfathered into unlimited data.

ENJOY Them!
