***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Well said...I don't care if the phone I chose sells 10 units or 10 million. I choose what I like. Plus lets be honest, just because a phone out sells another doesn't make it any better. Just take a look at the iPhone............

Actually, I'll have to take a slight exception to this.

The number of units sold is proportional (somewhat) to the level of dev support for a device. Example: head to the LG Revolution forums - dead. DX forums - still pretty vibrant with Liberty, Vortex, MIUI, CM4DX, etc etc...

Granted, this only matters to people who root and install ROMs/kernals, but I think its a valid point. I know other factors, mainly bootloader status, also play a role in dev support. But so do devices sold.

If I made a ROM, I'd want to do it for the most popular phones b/c those give me the best chance of donations b/c more people will have access to my stuff.

Well I am getting the nexus due to updates right from google. That was the only reason I rooted and that before was to stay up to date which I won't have to do since google handles updates.

I sort of agree, but then I learned to do my own ROMs. I made the mistake of releasing my work and then tailoring it to the wishes of my users. This became too involved, so, as selfish as this sounds, I'm currently running my own concoction (straight AOSP with elements of Sense), and it's so much simpler. I plan to do the same on whatever phone that I buy. I prefer a Nexus phone for this.

True, like I said it only applies to those who anticipate wanting to install ROMs - and the more popular the device, the more likely there will be lots of ROM options :D

As of now stock ICS seems like more than enough, but if in 5 months CM or Kejar or whoever comes out with an awesome ICS ROM that improves it...well then I want a device that those people will for sure be releasing stuff for!

That's one of the reasons why I never wanted to create/build my own Rom........quite a few people asked me to in the past, to them I replied "No thank you" quite enthusiastically :p:D Themes are enough of a headache as it is sometimes ;)

hahahahahahahahahaha

BTW husker the RAZR is not for everyone....

Just read the slogan :D LOL

The New DROID RAZR - Android Smartphone - Ultra-Thin - KEVLAR Strong - Overview - Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA

"Too Powerful to Fall into the Wrong Hands" - hahahaha, love it!! what, does it have the NOC list, or the nuclear launch codes?!? at least they didn't go with "The Machine that Rules the Machine that Rules All Machines"... :D

seriously, tho, i do wish Moto would start trending away from the "raw power" marketing strategy. it was definitely cool for the OG, but, i mean, c'mon already...

Razr will sell because of its name, just like iPhone.
Gnex will sell because of the software(OS).

If I told you that Windows 9 was going on sale on 10/26/11, you would be camping out at Best Buy tommorrow.

I guess this is the noise canceling mic?

So, I have to admit, whenever someone sees my phone for the first time, I'm asked before powering the screen if an iPhone or a Droid. Once the screen is powered, the question becomes, So - that's a Droid, right?

And I always cheerfully reply, Exactly right, but this one is called the Evo (or whatever I've had on me). :)

So - gotta credit the power of the name.

OBTW - on that battery thing. I can 100% guarantee poor battery performance for the first few days with any new dual core phone.

What? You think you're not going to be running everything at once repeatedly and wearing it down in amazement at how FAST it is?

Oh, you'll try to put it down and tell yourself, fine, that's it, it's just a phone, give the thing a chance to charge.... And I'm here to tell you, that's not going to happen. Once you're above about 25%, you'll be back at it. Promise.

Hey guys I have heard that Verizon REMOVED the word "EXCLUSIVELY" from their banner. .This is GREAT NEWS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the ones who care anyway.

What I heard is that it will probably sell all over for at least t-mobile and att on maybe the same week it releases for Verizon. . I don't know though if it will be at full price or on contract though. .might be offered through 3rd party stores
