***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Well we do need to wait and see after more reviews come out. The heat complaints are anecdotal at this point. A couple of folks are reporting it, including our intrepid Steven58, but it could be a localized or explainable issue.

Let's face it, we're all SGN fans in here for the most part, but a defective RAZR that has been hyped to hell and back would be bad for the Android ecosystem as a whole.

Yeah, it could be defective, but I would hope the employees would have figured that out during their touch time. But your right, gotta hold off on the criticism until we get a better picture.

My intent of "dont care who you vote for" was merely to not drum up political arguments. This isn't a big popularity contest election cycle (around here anyway). Mainly local town/city positions that effect us the most.
I understand what you meant and it wasn't directed at you.

But it gets drilled into us that we all need to go vote, when I firmly believe you need to understand the issues before you should be qualified to vote. Too many just check down a column.

But you're absolutely right, let's drop the political talk and get back the the GNex.

Hence the reason it isn't a good heat dissipator...it keeps the heat inside whatever is contained within it. So you have Kevlar on the back of the phone, that kevlar is keeping heat from escaping the device through the back. The heat has to go somewhere so twice as much heat is escaping through the screen because it can't escape through the back.

Waaaait a minute - the penny just dropped, the light just came on.

That's exactly the reason they put Kevlar on the back - to keep the heat from the hand.

And send it to someone's face.

Ok, Ytram is right - best to not bash the thing unless and until the facts are there.

Still tho - that tradeoff speaks volumes on their thinking.

p3droid hasn't shown the back of his GalaxyNexus yet? Something I'm looking to see. I'd also like to see a video of the hidden LED another color besides green.

I was a weapons scientist for decades - gets you lots of cross-experience on all sorts of arcane things. ;)

Until people see me talk this way in person, it's pretty common to just think I'm like mr. Google. :D

Hey - either way you want to think of me, it's okey dokey by me. ;) :) :)

I see you as my slightly older brother. :D

For what it's worth, a pic of the iPhone screen vs the GNex.

But green is in right now, haven't you seen the Razr's display???

Lol.........I'm just joking with all you Razr fans ;)

Yeah, you are right. Just because it doesn't say 1.2 GHz on the spec sheet, doesn't mean they are overclocking it, that statement of mine was not correct. However chances are it will run at the higher end of the heat tolerance. So even if it is speed binned it will most likely run hotter than average, but not outside tolerance.

not to nitpick, but you were correct the first time. what speed the chip is stable at is immaterial, binning (yes, I'm familiar with it) doesn't matter either.

Overclocking is to run at over its "rated" speed. That means if the spec sheet on the OMAP 4430 says its a 1ghz processor, then if moto is running it at 1.2 it IS overclocked. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, merely a technical fact.

I had a 550 mhz PIII that ran perfectly fine at 733 at stock voltage, and probably came off the same wafers as Intel's PII 733's, it was just spec'd lower because Intel needed more of them. BUT I was overclocking it.

I'm at the point now I kinda feel like a fool. I was really thinking that Verizon would do us right this time but I'm not feeling it anymore. Tired of not knowing. I'd be happy if they told us there is a delay, here is why, and our best guess for release is [insert whatever here]. If there is no delay then let us know when we can expect to see the device.

I've read several posts over the last many day/weeks that defend Verizon because they never actually gave out a release date, therefore there can be no delay. While that COULD be a true statement, it doesn't address the crux of the problem IMO which is that there was already an unveiling event for this phone and the timespan from then until now, along with zero word from Verizon spells trouble. I'm sure they'll get it out eventually but I'm growing tired of wading around in quicksand while the days of this phone's would be awesomeness and dominance slip by one at a time. The longer it takes to get it out, the further behind the curve we'll be once it's in our hands and that makes the whole thing less appealing than it once was.

To the gang here:
Sorry to be a downer Dan but I've reached a personal threshold. Flame away if need be, I'm cool with that. Hopefully, y'all can keep hope alive but I am cutting out for awhile. Perhaps check back in a week or so.

Your not a downer! Nothing wrong with feeling what you feel and you deal how you deal. We'll miss you of course and hope your back sooner than later. Stop by and say hi please....bless you brother

No way I want that kind of heat on my face. Just sayin'.
