Hi, all. I'm new here (though I've been reading this thread for a few days). While we're all waiting, I thought I'd share an observation from the new GoogleNexus videos on YouTube. I'd post a link, but as a new user I'm not allowed.
Some of the videos have really high-res close-ups of the screen. For example, check out the "Make Yourself At Home" video at 15 seconds in. If you take a look, make sure to switch to 1080p and full-screen. I was at first a little dismayed when I saw it, as the PenTile checkerboard pattern is really quite prevalent. However, give this a try -- hold up your current phone at its normal distance from your face, close one eye and back off from your monitor until the width of the Nexus' screen matches that of your own phone in your perspective.
When I viewed the on-screen Nexus at realistic proportions, the PenTile artifacting was visible only if I was really looking for it. This was a relief, as I'd been worried that the Nexus would look like the Droid RAZR screen I saw on my visit to the Verizon store last night and can't stand!
Speaking of that visit -- a funny anecdote: when I asked the VZW employee about the Nexus release date, she said "hmm, I can look that up for you" and, after some typing and clicking at her computer, began quoting to me from blog posts on the subjects! "Hmm, says here that a leaked Verizon road map says the 21st." Should a Verizon agent really be telling me about leaked Verizon roadmaps?!
