***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

My Rezound screen is so beautifully crisp. I don't think I could survive looking upon both it and the GNex's amazing screens simultaneously. That might just overload a temporal lobe or something...

I can see it now. A number of Nexus owners shocked to death by drooling on the device due to GNDDD. Galaxy Nexus Display Drool Disorder.

Not sure if this has been posted yet but Phil over at AC just posted this in the forums:

" Availble online Monday, in stores Black Friday....................... and that's the skinnypoop"

I can live with that..... I just hope it's set in stone!!

But regional managers have been saying it will be in store on the 21st... Who is right?

So I like so many others stopped by my local coporate Verizon store (it was right next to Home Depot so figured since I am here and the store is only 200 yds away ;))

Was greeted by a very nice sales rep who asked if he could help me and I just kind of shrugged and said "depends can you give me a GNex today?" He just smiled and said he wish he could and about a handful of people have been coming in daily asking the same. I continued on to say they have gotten no official release date either but he has heard all the rumors from Monday until the 1st (also discounted BF as being a day that is not their style). He said normal protocol for the last few years is they get the promo stuff the day before and put it up at 4pm the day before and that is how they know the next day it will be. He didn't deny not having anything in the back room but says he sometimes finds out when watching a ball game that they are launching a new phone. He took my name down said he would call me when he knew they would be launched and even could do his best to make sure one was around when I got off work.

This is all info only and not much different then what most have been saying here but if you are watching the game on Sunday and see an ad...well Monday they will be launching but in following VZN m.o. there will be no official word until the day before.

I could tell though everyone in the store was very excited about the release and when I asked about how the Razor was selling I got a 'so-so...but who wants the Razor when you can get ICS real soon.'

For those that are reading this article and worrying, see the quote below: Impromptu Q&A Session With Android Engineer Dan Morrill Brings To Light Reasons Behind Galaxy Nexus' Lack Of USB Mass Storage

PC-accessible storage is there, it's just not "USB mass storage" (by name). It's over MTP (Media Transfer Protocol). Basically the Galaxy Nexus, because there's no SD card, will let the /sdcard directory be accessible over USB.

As a user you will never see any of it. As a user, what you'll see is that it works exactly the same as before, except that you are using MTP instead of USB Mass Storage.
On Windows, this is pretty close to indistinguishable. On other platforms it's unfortunately a bit of a hoop to jump through at the moment. But that should hopefully change as people improve software like libmtp and mtpfuse.

I think we all need to remember that Verizon only ever said they would release it this year. It was Google and Samsung that said November. So instead of hating on Verizon we should be thanking Google and Samsung for making sure Verizon gets their ass in gear... And after we thank them, we all go stand in a verizon store and demand a nexus. :)

Did they ever say November for the LTE/VZW device? Or was that just in reference to the HSPA+ phone in Canada and the UK?

It's true, we have not received an official release date, so we're driving ourselves nuts and blaming them, but they never gave us a date. That said, I still think it's being handled poorly.

FedEx delivered a replacement phone to me on Christmas Day a few years ago. Wife and I were both shocked, and the delivery guy didn't look happy about it. Hey, I didn't ask for it to be delivered on 12/25...

So here's my one post/hour. Hope it helps!

Stopped by my local corporate store today and played dumb. I said "My brother told me about some galaxy phone was coming out and that I should get it". :)

Three sales reps looked at me then looked at each other and one said it was coming very soon. They all just smirked and wouldn't say anything else other than offering to show me a Razr or Rezound.

One thing I noticed, related but a bit OT is that if I were to get a Razr today at the corp store, I would pay $299 with a new 2 year renewal, but online, the price for the Razr is only $249. The corp rep also said there was going to be a $20 activation fee in the store and I didn't see this online either and I went all the way to the point before checking out.

Does anyone know why it would be cheaper online for me? I'm sure the Nexus will be different as well when it comes out.

Welcome! Thanks, we have a lot of operatives searching for this phone, and looking at the Rezound is good cover. But be very careful, because a few of us have been compromised by its screen and feel.

I agree... In fact, I was dead set on the Vigor (Rezound) until I heard about the GN. But, I will take precautions, such as 1) Not bringing my debit or credit cards 2) wearing my super tight jeans so I can't try the "pocket test" and finally, 3) putting pepper spay in my eyes so I can't actually see the screen.

Hey now, it's a simple Flip camcorder with no tripod :) It focused the best it was able. Later videos should be a bit better ;)
Thanks for that video (it got the information across), and even more for your NFC app. Wow, it looks great! I look forward to getting the app, getting some NFC tags, and trying it out ... that is once VZW finally gets around to releasing the Nexus.

Good thinking! Although you could do double pirate patches instead. Less painful.
