I can't believe how much smoother and faster this Incredible 2 is over my OG Droid. I can't wait to see how fast the SGN is!!

Hey Han. I love the DInc 2. If my wife's LG Ally wasn't dying, I might hold off on upgrading early. I know it is a temporary phone, so I won't suggest root and ROM. FWIW, CyanogenMod runs so smooth.

ARGH. These "software" problems are probably VZW trying to force google to put more crapware on there.

Sigh...this is such a total failure on VZW's side. They have done a bang up job of botching this release.

Agreed...Verizon is probably trying to throw as much bloat on there as they can

Phil about the 8th:

Yeah. I'm told that's the new target date, but that earlier is also possible.

I'm sure next week being a holiday week isn't helping matters any. :-/

Gawd, I miss google.com/phone

The more I think about this, the more it makes sense. It has to be Verizon Back-up Assistant causing the problem. No way they let that app not be working when they release a phone. Its how they have their customers transfer contacts, probably the first thing anyone does when they get a phone. Of course, I use Google contacts, so the app is absolutely worthless to me. Figures. Verizon, why must you make me hate you so?

Annoying as these pushbacks are, just remember that Google is likely just as frustrated. Plus it still comes down to the fact that, so long as Verizon announces and releases it by Dec 31, they've got themselves covered.

^This. These units have been manufactured, boxed and shipped by now. They are in warehouses and most likely in stores. The only way any software issue gets worked out now is OTA. You are talking MAJOR RECALL and MAJOR DELAYS if there is a need for them to fix it without OTA. This device either comes as it is now or it does not make the December 31st deadline VZW set for themself. I say bull.

It will be an OTA fix... if there even is a real issue with the bloatware. This is not about the device having problems. This is about RAZR's... period.

I refuse to believe the Dec 8 screenshot. Too many sources have pointed to next week. Even if it's just pre-order, I'd be happy. We just need a firm, verifiable date to end this not knowing.

Hear us Verizon, we are a force to be reckoned with. Either that or we use the force and reckon we'll hear something eventually. Whatever the case we wanna know.

No new information, just an amusing moment from my visit to the Verizon store this afternoon. The reps were all busy, and I wasn't going to interrupt anybody just to play dumb. So I contented myself with checking out the RAZR and the Rezound.

The RAZR is definitely too wide for my tastes; but the Rezound seemed quite nice. In fact, I was really impressed at how incredibly light it was -- lighter than any other smartphone I've ever picked up! And then I found that it wouldn't power on. Looks like they took the battery out for some reason. Hmm ... maybe to show off that it *has* a removable battery?

As for the back-and-forth on the dates, here's an anecdote from my days following rumors about the Fascinate release date. Back in August of 2010 or thereabouts, there were strong rumors that the Fascinate would be released in September. Then suddenly there was a leak of a Verizon "roadmap" document that showed the Fascinate scheduled for late October. It came complete with a screen shot and looked very credible, and supposedly came from a credible source.

But the Fascinate launched on September 9, earlier than anybody was predicting. The moral? No single leak can be trusted. Even if it's a legitimate internal Verizon document, that doesn't mean it's true. It could be out of date; it could be a proposed alternative schedule that won't be used; we have no way of knowing.

At the moment I'm not inclined to bet on any of the dates we've heard, because there's just too much uncertainty. But in general I'm more inclined to trust rumors that come from multiple sources and tend to corroborate one another. A single leaked screen shot doesn't mean much unless we start hearing the same thing from other directions.

You think holding up a release to fix their crapware issues on the phone ISN'T a botched release? I know we are danging our own carrots here, but it's still been managed poorly.

Your grasping at straws. You have no definite idea what is "holding up" this phone. We have "sources" who have given tidbits here and there, but even the almighty "sources" have had their flaws. For all we know, the launch will be the 8th just as Samsung, Google, and VZW had planned the entire way.

All I'm saying is that people need to chill the [bleep] out. I want it also but it will be here soon enough. No reason to get pouty about a phone.

If true, I'm not happy about it, but it gives a lot more time for those wanting the SGN thread to hit a new post count record.
