***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

the term "bloatware" does have some negative connotation to it, but i think it mainly means something that is added to the phone which isn't part of the OS - i.e., it's just non-essential "bloat"... i personally think MyVZW and BUA would fall into this category, since they are added by VZW, but don't have anything to do with the OS.

The negative connotation is what defines bloatware. I really wouldn't say a PC comes with bloatware if it has Java or Adobe Acrobat Reader installed because they are essential programs.

Bloatware are programs that use unnecessary resources and hurt performance. They can also be free trials and other junk that other companies install to try to make money.

You know what guys and girls, I think we are still going to see the pre-order go up on Monday. We might have to wait as long as the RAZR folks did, but at least we will have our name on one.

No, when it is all said and done, it is just the rumor of the day, that once again seems legit, but might perhaps be blown away tomorrow by another one.
I'm sorry, but I'm not quite understanding how this Dec. 8th rumor seems legit or has "evidence" according to the story. The image is of Gmail text on a laptop screen. How is that legitimate evidence?

Anyone wanna fill me and the rest of us in?

What the...!? I have been watching this like a hawk and had a migraine kick in, took some meds, took a short nap and missed something apparently! What the heck happened?! What did I miss that changed the heading of this thread to December?!

This is what I'm hoping for. Pre-order gives at least some peace of mind.

3 different sources (P3, kellex, Phil @AC) all said roughly the same date. P3 said "before 12/10" I think, not the 8th specifically.

Youre migraine's about to get worse...

I hope so. I'll wait to pick it up on December 8th. Now, an actual release date from Verizon would be nice - even if it is December 8th.

What about all those verizon associates that told some of us "friday"? :( is that the same thing about Monday? We've reached a point where nothing is believable. You'd think most of us bugging verizon workers would finally get us some answer but it hasn't, I don't know what plan B is. Nothing? We just have to wait for it to release. This post is so negative, i'm sorry.

I don't beleive the pic on twitpic, but that's just me.

And if it is true that bloat is what's holding it up, why does that take three weeks? OTA update would fix that. Also, again if it's bloat, then it's the moblie hotspot for wifi tethering, that's my bet.

I just can't see them missing the boat for sales over next weekend for that. If anything I will bet preorder 11/21 shipping by the 12/8, I think that's possible, but not likely. IMO.

Speaking of which, OTD, did you get a chance to see the Nexus?

Yes I did. Here is a copy of what I said so nobody has to jump back to read it.

Ok all you little Nexaholics out there. I'm back.

The rep had the phone and store manager was nice enough to play along and act like I was an off the clock employee to let me play with it for a minute or two. The rep was there to more or less go over the phone and he basically covered everything we've seen in all the YouTube videos out there.

About the Nexus:

It is fast. It may be bias on my part or it may just be ICS, but it seems to be faster and smoother than the Razr or the Rezound.

The screen is absolutely gorgeous. I really don't have words to properly describe it. Take the rezound screen and make it better, that is all I can come up with.

The size is like a pretty good combination of the Rezound and the Razr. It doesn't have the width of the Razr or the thickness of the Rezound though. The curve is very subtle and I almost forgot that it was really there.

The phone really functioned flawlessly too. With LTE it was blazing fast to bring up the web and the market. I didn't see music in the market on the phone, btw.

The rep demoed the camera and it really is just about instant. Tap the screen and you have a picture and the phone is ready to go again right away.

He also showed us Face Unlock which was really cool, but I can't see using it all that often unless I'm just trying to show off the feature.

Someone asked what the build was at it was 4.0.1 so I don't think this one has had the update that people were talking about.

I asked the rep about a release date and he said that it was on Verizon, but he was hearing next week.

That is all I've got. I only had the phone in my hands for a couple of minutes and had to pass it to someone else. I almost cried.

The one last thing I will say, I don't see anyone being disappointed with it. The wow factor is just too high.

So, that guy earlier must have been lying when he said he played with a demo unit.

They don't put out demo units 3 weeks before release, do they?

The demo unit I played with was brought into the store by a Samsung rep not a Verizon employee. I didn't really look for it or pay too much attention at the time, but I actually don't remember seeing either of the two Verizon apps even on the phone. Like I said, I wasn't looking for it though so it could have just been lost in the moment. I was pretty distracted.

I'm also a girl, not a guy. ;)

THere is also a spreadsheet showing advertising start date of 12/8, and also Phil from AC, after basically confirming the 21st, backtracked saying technical issues with a VZW app has delayed it. Also P3Droid tweeted issues have pushed it back again, and also BMX this morning was venting about how he wished google.com/phone came back, and now everyone sees it as a reference to Google and Samsung being done, but Verizon's crap is delaying it, if Google.com/phone were still alive, he and we would be able to get this phone already, as it wouldn't have to go through Verizon.

I don't believe the Twitpic is legit either. S*** I could throw that together in a matter of minutes in Photoship CS5. I use it all the time at work.

I'm calling it a fake also. It's Gmail text on a laptop screen. You can see the laptop keyboard through the reflection of the screen.

This particular image I'm calling a HOAX.

If I had to guess, the guy either used a screen grab utility at work, and emailed it to his home address, and took a picture of it there, or had a contact who grabbed it and sent it to him. Not saying its not a Hoax, but to have multiple independant people basically confirm what the image shows makes the chances pretty slim.

12/8 is bad news. If there is not at least a pre-order next week, they can keep it.
I will wait until the beginning of next year ( Q1 ) for something better.
Maybe the Galaxy SGSII-HD will be here in January. <<< Its a better phone to me anyway.

And to be blunt the phone is not the "Samsung Nexus" its the galaxy nexus, if thats a real email it would be more formal and fact full.

Really sounds like BS to me considering everything we know for certain at this point now that I think about it. We have two people here who have played with a device in store (granted.. both demos), we have stores getting advertising material, heck we have Wozniak getting one from Google today! Reviewers in the US have been getting the phone (yes, GSM I know), and we have people in Verizon who have said 'next week' to various people (Han twice between his sister and the VP he spoke with). Combine that with the questionable screen shot (Samsung Nexus, IPhone (not lower case i)? C'mon..), Duarte saying November when asked about a Verizon release, and the reason being a possible software issue with (maybe) one of Verizon's apps (an OTA fix normally).. this December 8th thing doesn't pass the smell test right now.

I would agree with you and everyone else, but before I came to this board I lurked AC's boards. Phil does not comment on every rumor that comes out daily unlike Kellex, P3 etc. etc., he posts when he hears something thats very very likely. So when I see him post something like that it brings my hope meter DOWN. If BMX tweets something about it my meter will be a hard 0. FWIW I pray everyone and their mother is wrong and we get to order next week.
