***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

One thing about the RAZR - i'm so used to the thin factor now. Its like holding 3 stacked credit cards. Not sure I could go back to a thick form like the Rezound. Nexus is really thin too though.

Yeah, the Nexus is pretty comparable in thickness to the Razr. BUT, there is one question that nobody is addressing, battery life. With my Bionic the heavy duty battery is to me, a necessity. I may find the same thing with the Nexus. I don't know if a heavy duty battery even exists for that phone yet and if it does or when it does, how thick will that make the phone.

Most of these 4G phones really almost require a heavy duty battery option unless you're really a very light user.

While I understand that and do see the difference the site name and forum are owned by someone. I just don't think it is a great idea to suggest or imply that the actual forum is supporting the "rental" program you guys are talking about.

Please don't get me wrong, I love the letter. It is my job to look out for the forum and members so.......

Anyway, I sent a quick heads up over to the Boss just to get his input.

I agree. That's why in my version, I put "members of android forums at multiple popular sites" or something like that. I don't want to reflect on this place at all.

On the 16gb vs 32gb question, I must say I have never much considered it. I do like the idea of as much storage as possible. However looking at my Eris, which has 8gb, I see I still have around 5gb left. I am an extreme minimalist, with apps, music, movies, photos etc. I also have no problem with manually transfering items as I need them. It is that minimalist instinct which is still compelling me to hold out for the GN ( I mean, no physical buttons... you can't get much more minimalist than that).

That said, I played with the Rezound last night... lovely little thing, once you get past Sense...
Right there with on the minimalist part I have and X and have 14.5 of 16 gb free on the sd card and 6.62 of 7.07 free on internal I could live with 16gb no problem.

@black_man_x: to be honest everyone is tired of vzw bullshit. device is no longer a nexus due to their dumb ass games.. Unlocked works great on att..

Ok, this is the first actually disturbing text from Panda. Do you all have any theory what he means? Is Google gonna really be held up by Verizon with this phone-- no updates, extra bloat, what does he mean!!??

I think he is referring to the two vzw apps vzw is forcing Google to put on the gn phones. This may or may not be the cause of the hold up.

I'm on planes without wifi 4-5 times per month. I also stay in foreign countries and private islands without internet several months of the year. This isn't Apple; common google and give us the choice to use an sd and the cloud and internal storage.

To me its a big deal.

I agree. With most of our storage intensive stuff remaining in the cloud there is little need to have a lot of resident data on the phone. Our docs, pics, music are for the most part in the cloud. I don't see it as that big of a deal.

"I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, ****less, hopeless, heartless, fat-***, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey **** he is! Hallelujah! Holy ****! Where's the Tylenol?"

I didnt think it was appropriate to link the video :o

Anyone actually gotten any replies from Verizon? I think it's great you guys are emailing them and all, but I'd like to hear/see what they(Verizon) have to say about all of this.

I sent my heavily personalized (and non-threatening) version off to Verizon, and I'll certainly post back if I receive any reply.

The difference between European and Verizon release, is that Verizon does a lot more extensive testing. Probably the most thorough testing of any carrier. That's supposed to give the customers quality products, but it does also increase time to market.

Problems cropping up with the UK release should be addressed, although we are going to have to wait for it. So pick your poison.

What happened with the bionic with all of it's problems and their still not fixed. Same with the razor having some of the same problems as the bionic. I can't see their testing being so great.

To Whom it May Concern:

My name is ******* and I am speaking on behalf of thousands of members of android forums from multiple popular internet sites, as well as countless other Verizon customers and future Galaxy Nexus-owners.

We were very excited to see the official unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in Hong Kong back in October. We were even more thrilled when it was announced that it would be releasing in the United States in

"Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family forum. No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm Nexus emergency here. We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest posting since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny flipping Kaye. And when Steven58 opens his giant monitor tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of nexi this side of the nuthouse."

New Draft

Thoughts? Again, should we do a mass email or just one?

You should make the letter on behalf of AF members, as you are not speaking on behalf of android forum. Only the owner does that! Minor adjustment.

I recognize that for some people the cloud is a great thing if you always have cell service. For people who travel, not so much. You can't stream Pandora when you're at 35,000 feet over the ocean.

I agree that I would much rather have a SD card option, but for your specific instance, you have the ability to "offline" whatever music/movie you would want for your trip, or until you are in an area where you can wifi/use 4g again.

I don't travel overseas much, but I am on an airplane quite often, and this was a concern of mine as well. What I realized is I was never going to watch or listen to that much media while in transit, that I couldn't offline some and then when i am in an area where I could use wifi or 3/4g switch it up if need be.

Again, I am not going overseas, so maybe this is less likely. But how many songs can 32GB get you - quite a bit. Maybe enough to get you through for a while.

One letter/email is not going to make a difference

Agreed.

but if they get this form letter from ALL OF US, it will make a difference. It takes many, but will force them to acknowledge us publicly as opposed to privately as they have tried to do so far.

Um ... do you seriously believe that? What would prevent them from ignoring it?

I suspect many of you don't work in corporate environments. I guarantee you that all of those executives have administrative assistants who screen all e-mail coming in on those public addresses. And that mail probably includes a large number of rants and crackpot complaints, every single day. It's possible that one or two of the intended recipients MIGHT see the note. More likely, they'll just see it reflected on a report that says "243 complaint notes came in last week."

It's even possible that it might prompt some sort of reply. But I really hope no one on this forum actually believes writing this letter will be anything other than an act of venting frustration. Go ahead and send it if it makes you feel better, but don't expect that an e-mail from a handful of people on the Internet is actually going to change the decisions of a major corporation that answers to a board of directors and stockholders.

I think it's far more likely that pressure from Google would have some effect, and if Panda's tweets are any indication, at least some at Google are not happy. I am certain Verizon knows this already.
