***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Well Verizon puts plenty of bloatware on the RAZR and all their other phones. This in itself is a revenue stream for Verizon. Even if the Nexus comes with the two mentioned verizon apps, thats their own software and they are not receiving money from anyone to put those apps on there.

Why does it matter though? People are probably buying plenty of RAZRs right now over the ReZound because they have marketing the RAZR like no ones business. Why can't they do a silent launch of the Galaxy Nexus? The stupid people will still buy an iPhone 4S, the people who think they are smart will end up buying the RAZR and then we can buy our Gnex.

I just don't see the logic in pushing back the phone launch anymore.

The two VZW apps are services for the user. One to back up contacts you may have stored to your phone and the other is for tracking your use, pay your bill, etc.

Have Plan B ready: 6 months from now the Nexus will be a below average phone. Is it worth it now to lock in for another 2 years? Sorry, but that is the way I see it now. Available for flaming.

Well technically the GN is already obsolete. They're in the final stages of completion for newer, faster and better phones. But that's technology. If we waited for the next "best" phone we would never get one.

Locking in? Some of us don't wait for 2 years to get a new phone so we pay retail anyway.

So has anyone heard when the double data promotion is ending??? Really hoping not November since it looks like the Nexus won't come out till December. I just wish they'd open up a pre-order since I'm assuming that would lock me into the double data.

sorry, i have not heard. but you can probably go ahead and loophole them, get into it now with an htc or whatever, see if that can double data plan can be grandfathered in once you're done renting the filler phone til the nexus is out?

Rght now 11/30 is the most likely day according to amazon wireless

Heck I cannot remember if ever I've waited two years. One year is more than enough time for technology to evolve. I got the Droid 3 in July and getting the Nexus. If the Nexus comes out on 12/8 I will have had the D3 six months and one day.

For whatever the excuse it is being delayed, VZW seems to be succeeding in swaying people to buy their bogged down phones to milk one more cent out of their customers. But guess what, screw them.

Was just coming here to post this. Looks like the "bug reports" are true, and I guess I have to be glad that Verizon/Google is testing and fixing the known issue rather than releasing an imperfect product. Seems like the UK people reporting this bug had it spot on.

Except this bug has been shown to be associated with the 900MHz spectrum, which will not be on the LTE version. So I am not buying this is the reason Verizon is delaying it, especially since none of the testers have spoken up saying the LTE version has a similar issue.

You can always go to Swappa and get a cheapo Android phone, get your double data plan in place, and then (a) sell it again when Nexus comes out or (b) keep it as a backup in case Nexus has to go in for repairs.

Ends 11/30/2011. Go to Amazon wireless and click on the details for the promotion. It clearly states the double data is only availible until 11/30/2011.

Seems like a volume issue would be a problem with the hardware or software, not the radio band spectrum, no?

EDIT: Ah, I see, the article says it's been "inconclusively" linked to 2G connection. Interesting.

Yeah, P3Droid told me this morning his LTE device doesn't have the issue.

On a side note: I am back 87 emails from being out of the office all last week. Replying to one generates at least 3 out of office replies letting me know people are off all week. So being productive at work is putting me further behind. Guess I'll just stay here all day =)

I would LOVE to come back to only 87 emails after being out for a week! I can't come back to that few emails after being out for a DAY.

Hoping against hope that this is the reason for the 12/8 delay and that it's not affecting the VZW release. Either way, if it's 12/8 for VZW, it's 12/8, and at this point, that is my new expectation...anything sooner will be icing on the cake.

Re: Plan B

Same can be said of any given device on any given day. Such is the march of tech.

The Nexus is more future-proof than most phones, IMO...and worth a (moderate) wait...

The next big thing on the horizon seems to be quad-core devices and those seem to be out in April timeframe.

I told myself that if there was no confirmed news from Verizon by the 21th, I would register and join the party!

I never really care for cameras or total space in phones since I always carry a Nikon D7000 and a 120 GB iPod. I have only taken 10 pictures with my Droid over the last two years and that was only because I did not have another camera.

I was planning to use the OTG to watch and transfer videos, but reports are not looking good on that front. I just want more than 256 MB of space for apps... G+ and Maps takes 5% of space each...

Oh, and NFC and ICS

I could not imagine carrying my gripped 5D with me EVERYWHERE I went and honestly sometimes I like the convenience of having one device that does everything.

Welcome to the crazy forums!

Exactly. The bug is only reproducible on their 2G network, which is not the same spectrum as our 1x -- now we aren't sure if its a network connectivity thing or the actual spectrum its on, but probably won't affect LTE variant.

harpua

This is what I am trying to do as well. Im switching from Sprint, Ive been out of contract for a month and just waiting for the right time to switch over. I was worried about the 2GB, but now with the DD promo, I am a lot less worried about the tiered plans. I do not want to miss this promo, which sounds like it is for sure ending on the 30th.

What is the process of "renting" and how long do you have before needing to trade it back in? Is there a restocking fee, if I were to get the ReZound/Razr and trade it in for the Nex, if it does come out on the 8th?

I hate all this plotting, and speculation...

Plus on Verizon, who knows how long till they get another phone as decent as the GNex. I have an upgrade in the middle of next year just in case something amazing comes out, but otherwise I fully expect to go the full two years with this phone (My wife would remind me I have said this with my past 3 phones, and none of them made it that far ;))

welcome to the wait!

This is probably the longest I have waited. It's over a year though so I'm pretty pleased with myself for not jumping ship over a less than what I really wanted phone

Nice. Did not know that.

Welcome to the Show! :)

Did you see the article that MoPhoMan posted? It's a report from this site, Verizon/Google are fixing a volume bug reported by users in the UK.
The list goes a long way since they had trouble sticking in My Verizon and Back Up Assistant. Also, with large resources from a corporate like Verizon, I don't believe that a volume bug takes 3 weeks to fix.
