***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

The issue is feedback versus harassment. If you're talking about valid feedback and you're not abusing the VZW employees I guess there's nothing to lose by trying.

I know as an airline pilot I don't really enjoy when passengers complain to me about ticket prices or flight schedules. It's out of my control and there is nothing I can do about it.

My point is there are better channels in any organization/corporation for providing input than "the application of pressure" to a front line employee.

I feel VERY strongly about this.
If you don't ever find yourself writing or calling a supervisor to compliment an employee that has gone above and beyond, but you frequently complain. Then you need to review your expectations of customer service reps, and your entitlement.
I am NOT NOT NOT addressing this to you ANYONE in this thread!!!!!!!
I am expanding on wht CaptainRon said. I have worked a LOT in customer service (retail at Christmas, waitressing, etc). And it's astonishing what customers hold a lower level employees accountable for, and what they fail to simply thank them for, in acknowledgement of exemplary service.
How many of you have had their upgrade bumped up earlier, and called a manager to praise the CR (by name!) that did that for them?
Just sayin'

I still would like to know what's so bad about sense and how it's that different than my current phone. I played around with the Rezound and loved it, but playing with a new toy for a few minutes at a store would be very different than living with it. My son has an Incredible but won't let me touch it. Teenagers!

Sense is the way that htc wants you to experience their phone. It has its own widgets and layouts and little tweaks that they incorporate. Just like MotoBlur and TouchWhiz. It all boils down to user preferences.
And for the record, I'm 33 and won't let other people near my electronics. I don't share them well.

If they've seen some of my landings, they wouldn't be complaining about yours.

By the time I land I usually don't really care how it was, it means I can escape whatever horrible person has just tried to talk to me for the length of the flight. :o

Thats my tree in my avatar:D

I'm sorry baby;)

HI!!

*whispers hi and pulls blanket over you and tiptoes away*

You two would never have anything to complain about because I'd have you upgraded to first class and sucking down champagne before we even left the gate. :D

I like you more and more. :D

Actually I do this quite often. It sucks to work in the service industry and I try to praise those that help.

So true. The wife and I were living in KY for three months when we purchased our DX's on launch day. The rep at the corporate store paid for my AT&T ETF, gave us the phones for the web price of $200 and let us keep the $100 rebate on each phone. He was awesome. We talked to his manager and sent an email to the regional manager. He called me when we got back to MI and told me that he received a special regional award and a bonus because of our letter.

The bottom line is to treat people with respect and always praise great service.

You should see the funny looks we get from managers at restaurants when we call them over to tell them our waiter/waitress was awesome. All those poor guys hear is complaints.

I plan on never letting anyone even dare touch my GNex. Good thing there's Face Unlock :D

Love it! I love travel and flying and I have a lot of respect for it... I used to think it was lame, but now I love that my mom made me dress up to fly as a kid (she's 65 and traveled extensively because my grandpa was an engineer for Westinghouse) I do it now too... Unless it's crazy early in the morning!

It's a huge collection of related user interface code stuck on top of the native Android GUI that has a reputation (at least earlier versions on older phones) of being sluggish and a resource hog. EarlyMon has insisted that on a modern fast dual-core it's a delight, and many people agree. I don't have a firm opinion and am looking forward to trying it myself.

It's the automatic title of most Verizon URLs because you need to enter a zip code to show relevant pricing/tax/etc.

Yes, when you add a link to a post the forum software automatically fetches the title from that link address. That's why it's helpful to do a Preview before a Submit, so you can overwrite the title with whatever you want it to be.

Why a reset? The phone just came out of the factory anyways :P

There's new and then there's allegedly new. It's not a bad idea to do a factory reset as first thing, so if that unit had been used as a demo model then it won't have junk left from anybody's messing around.

I wish I agreed with you, but I don't. My suspicion is that the phone *is* ready, but to release it will kill off most of the Razor RezoundT sales. VZW cares about contracts, and keeping Moto (especially), and HTC happy. They will still sell a slew of razors and RezoundT's, and garner a corresponding slew of 2 year contract$.

I canT seeT thisT is goingT to getT veryT annoyingT.

I would believe, perhaps, that they will sell a lot more of the Galaxy Nexus devices. Is it possible (just a guess here, no inside info), that VZW is worried that its 4G network isn't ready for the onslaught of 4G users that will jam the network when the GNex drops?

VZW has a stellar reputation in regards to their network. I could see them doing whatever was necessary to protect that, including the delay of the best ever Android phone, and including whizzing in the Wheaties of Google and Samsung.

Nahhhh, RAZR and RezoundTTT are both 4G, so they're not lowering any 4G usage by withholding GNex.

Me too!

Omg, my grandmother did the same thing to my mother so my mother passed it on to me. Comfy clothes yet presentable. But yeah, early morning means all bets are off.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I'll try to stop now.

Except that I suspect that VZW might well sell a lot more of the Gnex than the Rezound or Razor, in large part due to ICS. ICS is getting nearly universally good press, which, combined with other attributes of the GNex, should boost sales.

Note that this doesn't make the R phones any less awesome than they are, and I know they will both get ICS in the future, but I don't think either phone will sell in the numbers that the GNex will.

I like the htc widgets better than mine. Why do so many members here hate them?

I don't know much about Windows Phone, but I just saw a Samsung commercial with it and it looked pretty good. :p

Ha! I *enjoy* exciting landings, so long as there is no injury involved. Like I said, I fly infrequently, so my eyeballs are usually glued to the window, and not the movie. My favorite flights are those that encounter turbulence. I feel like I haven't gotten my money's worth if I don't feel a couple of 'stomache in my throat' drops and g-force lifts!
Well then, you really would have enjoyed flying with me back decades ago when I was in the Air Force flying into hurricanes and typhoons. A lot of "stomache in my throat' drops and g-force lift" on those flights.

I bring that up because it feels like it's been decades that I've been "patiently" waiting for Verizon to release the Galaxy Nexus and I've experienced many "stomache in my throat' drops" with the ups and downs of the many rumors posted on this forum. :)

Gosh, this thread has gotten so big. Tension looms at every corner.

Thanks for that reminder. Yes, very good to do!

You might be right about relative sales numbers, but I can't imagine VZW doesn't want to grab every single available customer before the holiday shopping season is over. If they don't get 'em, AT&T and others will.
