***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

The question has become to preorder and would get it next Thursday evening or not preorder it and pick it up next Thursday morning.

Yea, I'm having the same debate with myself. On one hand we have a GUARANTEED phone if you pre-order, and on the other there is instant gratification.

Does anyone think they will actually SELL OUT on day 1? I'll have to wait until after work to pick mine up, so I'm nervous they will be gone by then...

Great post and recap.

Ya know I am almost to the point where I could careless now. If I could get the Razr deal again for a single penny, I'd keep it after the Nexus was released. I had a chance to test one out for a few days and it was a solid phone. Battery life sucked, but I am always close to a charger so it didn't effect me so much.

Half the people waiting on the Nexus release would be so frustrated if VZW or Google, or whoever is going to launch this phone just communicated with the consumer. Such as posting a release date or pre-order date instead of leaving them out to dry. If this had been the case from the start, a lot of headache and pain would have been avoided.

I'd rather be told it will be released January 12th of next year rather than hoping it would be released last week, possible pre-order tomorrow, or possible release the 8th of December. Just give us the dates and all will be happy, even if I had to wait another month. Just poor service and marketing to keep leading your customers on.

Yeah, I completely agree. I honestly think the reason Verizon is doing this is simply because they know many of us will cave and get a RAZR the longer they delay. Many/most of us are locked into Verizon because of their outstanding network, and so making consumer-friendly choices (Like, communicating with their customers better) is "unnecessary" to them, because we'll continue to give them our money.

I think there's a chance pre-orders could start tomorrow. It's certainly a more likely chance than any of the previous rumoured dates have been. But with Verizon, it is best not to get your hopes up.

If the Nexus isn't RELEASED this year and is only ANNOUNCED this year, I'll take the UNDER on how many of these phones Verizon sells. I know I won't buy one. My cutoff is December 15th. If it's not in my hands by then, I won't buy. That's a month after the Razr and ReZound release. You can't release a similar class/spec phone a full month after 2 others at the same price and expect it to do well. It simply will not last as long as the other phones. At that point, Verizon/Samsung/Google better send it back to the drawing board and release an updated version sometime in January/February. By January this phone will be old technology folks. We're going to have it for less than a month by the time it is outdated and people are salivating over the new stuff unveiled at CES.

Can they be twisted and fluffed at the same time?

Ha! It's quite possible. :D

I don't know that they'll sell out but a preorder with confirmation will go a long way towards soothing the souls of many savage beasts.

I've been waiting for the Gnex for awhile now... (although probably not as long as many of you) and I haven't been side tracked by the Razr or Rezound... but with the announcement of the D4, I think I might honestly prefer that phone. Any of you know more about what might make one better than the other?

It's basically the Razr with a keyboard and a slightly smaller screen. If you weren't sidetracked by the Razr, you won't be much more tempted by the D4 unless you really love manual keyboards.

On a sidenote, just stumbled onto a somewhat interesting link:
LG Renews Prada Partnership to Bring Designer Android Phone

lol a whopping $16 for my OG Droid!

Haha, that link was NOT for you to actually read the info ;) Just the date... There are a lot of ways to get more money for phones than Verizon's trade in program... but not a lot of ways to get some money for it as easily.

DROID 4

Pros

-Keyboard
-Motorola Hardware (over all sturdiness, cellular radio, GPS)
-MicroSD
-Support for Lapdocks
Cons
-Lower Quality Display, smaller display
-All updates have to be skinned by "Blur" before being pushed to the phones.
-No NFC

don't forget that the BL is likely going to be locked down tight.

OK kids. Recent events made me want to put a previous post into a format for our general knowledge.

Morning all :)

BB love the Leia avi, I agree with Anti it's the best one yet!

Just caught up and I'm not seeing anything concrete (what's new right :D)

It's a gloomy weather day here and they are actually calling for a wintry mix (in the South that means "go to the grocery store and buy all the milk and bread" hysteria sets in in about 3, 2, 1, go!)

I did have a dream this morning (ya know after you initially wake up then fall back asleep imo best dreaming time) that we got a pre-order on Tue Nov 29. Weird, I know, but my dreams most often come true. Hoping this is a "most often" scenario!

Keep this thread pluggin' with positive energy it will prevail I promise. :)

Only way you will have a phone NOT outdated by CES standards is to buy one a month or two AFTER CES. I mean by that logic people that don't have upgrades until after the first of the year shouldn't even consider this phone..

Unfortunately chasing the next best thing will never end.

It also looks like the D4 will not have a removable battery which is also a Con

One isn't made by Motorola

I figured they didn't care much about that, doesn't mean they can't be ROM'd to a good degree and still maintain the moto boot software.

Of course it will suck if it simply cannot be Rooted.. Then the Gnex is the obvious choice but again the average Joe doesn't really care about that either...

Agreed, but you don't announce a phone and it's specs in October, release it overseas in November, and then release it here in the US late December. The phone is 3 months old by that point which is on the verge of obsolecense these days. You announce and release the same month and then you have several months of being the top teir tech phone before you are knocked off. The Nexus will be knocked off as the top tech phone within a month of when it is released now. That should not ever happen.

For the people that keep referring to the Negri Electronics twitter feed for information, just stop it. Look back at how many times they changed the release date of their gsm version, not to mention the joke they pulled on people letting them order it for one price only to tell them later that the price went up and they wouldn't get their phone until they paid additional funds. Very shady company, their release info is not from inside sources, it's nothing more than a guess based on the information we already have. Not to mention they are selling a phone they can't even tell you how much memory it will have, but they know the release date???? Smh

^^^^^ Boom! svtgEEk drops microphone, arms outstreched, backs away slowly, keeps eye contact and wins best post of the morning.

It really is time to either release this device or walk away VZW. I agree with your 12/15 self-imposed deadline.
