I've never preordered a phone before, but I've heard many reports of people getting their preorder phones before the release date. Again, I'm the optimist.
If a preorder opens for this phone, I'm going for it.

The question has become to preorder and would get it next Thursday evening or not preorder it and pick it up next Thursday morning.
This will be the first phone I ever preorder, can these usually be preordered at full retail price from Verizon? Or are preorders only for upgrades?
Great post and recap.
Ya know I am almost to the point where I could careless now. If I could get the Razr deal again for a single penny, I'd keep it after the Nexus was released. I had a chance to test one out for a few days and it was a solid phone. Battery life sucked, but I am always close to a charger so it didn't effect me so much.
Half the people waiting on the Nexus release would be so frustrated if VZW or Google, or whoever is going to launch this phone just communicated with the consumer. Such as posting a release date or pre-order date instead of leaving them out to dry. If this had been the case from the start, a lot of headache and pain would have been avoided.
I'd rather be told it will be released January 12th of next year rather than hoping it would be released last week, possible pre-order tomorrow, or possible release the 8th of December. Just give us the dates and all will be happy, even if I had to wait another month. Just poor service and marketing to keep leading your customers on.
Does anyone think they will actually SELL OUT on day 1? I'll have to wait until after work to pick mine up, so I'm nervous they will be gone by then...
Fresh off the twitter feed: Confirmed: Verizon Galaxy Nexus LTE release date; pre-order Tuesday - Computerworld Blogs
Sorry the link is terrible, I'm on my G2.
Can they be twisted and fluffed at the same time?![]()
Yea, I'm having the same debate with myself. On one hand we have a GUARANTEED phone if you pre-order, and on the other there is instant gratification.

It's basically the Razr with a keyboard and a slightly smaller screen. If you weren't sidetracked by the Razr, you won't be much more tempted by the D4 unless you really love manual keyboards.I've been waiting for the Gnex for awhile now... (although probably not as long as many of you) and I haven't been side tracked by the Razr or Rezound... but with the announcement of the D4, I think I might honestly prefer that phone. Any of you know more about what might make one better than the other?

lol a whopping $16 for my OG Droid!
lol a whopping $16 for my OG Droid!
DROID 4
Pros
-Keyboard
-Motorola Hardware (over all sturdiness, cellular radio, GPS)
-MicroSD
-Support for Lapdocks
Cons
-Lower Quality Display, smaller display
-All updates have to be skinned by "Blur" before being pushed to the phones.
-No NFC
If the Nexus isn't RELEASED this year and is only ANNOUNCED this year, I'll take the UNDER on how many of these phones Verizon sells. I know I won't buy one. My cutoff is December 15th. If it's not in my hands by then, I won't buy. That's a month after the Razr and ReZound release. You can't release a similar class/spec phone a full month after 2 others at the same price and expect it to do well. It simply will not last as long as the other phones. At that point, Verizon/Samsung/Google better send it back to the drawing board and release an updated version sometime in January/February. By January this phone will be old technology folks. We're going to have it for less than a month by the time it is outdated and people are salivating over the new stuff unveiled at CES.

OK kids. Recent events made me want to put a previous post into a format for our general knowledge.
Is this goddamn phone ever going to come out or what?

don't forget that the BL is likely going to be locked down tight.
Only way you will have a phone NOT outdated by CES standards is to buy one a month or two AFTER CES. I mean by that logic people that don't have upgrades until after the first of the year shouldn't even consider this phone..
Unfortunately chasing the next best thing will never end.
