***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Instead of being all depressed over the delayed Nexus, let's talk about things that will probably happen before the Nexus. That should lift our spirits. ;) Feel free to add to the list.

1. Half Life 2, Episode 3
2. Duke Nukem Forever 2
3. Warp Drive
4. Nano Bots that can clean my blood vessels
5. A successful Kardashian marriage
6. The cure for cancer
7. World War 3
8. Contact with aliens
9. The Droid 4
10. The RAZR 2
11. The iPhone 5

Anyone care to add to the list?

Israel and Palestine sign a treaty they both stick to.

lol... there was a small communication that there was some dissent on the upper levels as to how this release was being handled. I posted it this morning, actually.

STEVEN NOTE:

Han's sister said they were discussing the possibility and it wasn't set in cement. With that in mind, don't overreact. Perhaps you can twitter or email your feelings to Verizon respectfully. Additionally, understand that this is only a rumor. There have been tons of rumor, many, if not most of which, were false.

So, don't get worked up. At this point, the only thing we know for sure is that Verizon said "before the end of the year." I think they mean it. The upper levels can "discuss" the 1st quarter all they want, and they have to, as to consider all possibilities. It's their job to do that. It's just talk, however. The fact is that they committed themselves to a pre 2012 release, so everyone calm down, chill out and love one another! :D

Hey Steven, is it at all possible that we change the the title of the thread to something generic, like "Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release Thread", and leave it at that from now on? I mean, yeah still put the sources communications in the OP and in posts in the tread itself, but I feel that the title constantly changing, especially to reflect one little rumor that only one person is saying, creates the hysteria, doom and gloom, and overall downtrodden and sometimes vicious atmosphere that we've been seeing lately. And just when it comes back down to normal, someone else who hasn't kept up with the thread notices the title change and freaks out, causing others to freak out.

EDIT: I'll add that while I will stipulate to the question marks in the title being a good thing, they don't show up in the URL for the thread, so it looks like this: "quarter-one-release".

I believe there were a few posts asking for this which a ton of people thanked, so I believe the consensus is that people would rather not have the title change twice a day with the constantly changing info we get. No disrespect intended!

Thanks.

Assuming that VZW is "testing" still (per "source"); and assuming that Android 4.0.2 is what they are testing which was OTA'd yesterday; and assuming as previously stated that testing takes about 5 days for a testing period... it seems like early next week is the best that we can hope for with any kind of official statement from VZW. Just my 2 cents... but seems logical.

Well they test all the way through launch, per numerous statements from those in the know, so just because they are testing, doesn't necessarily mean launch is at least 5 days away. Plus P3 said he got 4.0.2 a couple weeks ago. So this is more of a soak test if he was being truthful.

I don't know why people keep clinging to the press release. Companies absolutely do not have to abide by them as though they're law. Delays happen all the time in a multitude of products. Apple missed their October window for iTunes match, for instance.

VZW will release the phone when they want to and there won't be that much hue and cry if they choose not to. They will keep pushing whatever droids they have and the vast, VAST majority of consumers won't notice a difference.

I think with the news this morning from Steven and now Han's PM that its time to reconsider waiting for the GNex. I think I am going to wait until Thursday and if no announcement then I am going to get a ReZound!!!!

:mad::mad::mad::mad:

or you can come up here to Canada and get one on the 8th of DECEMBER

Not sure if this has already been posted, but here it is:
Galaxy Nexus From Verizon Announcement

I know this is from several pages ago (meaning ancient history) but I think it points to why there has been the angst about the release.

"Today is supposed to be the day that Verizon makes the announcement regarding the arrival of the Verizon Galaxy Nexus for the US"

Only later is "That is according to the rumors that have been going around so that pre-orders can start today" added.

As others have mentioned, every slight rumor gets treated as the gospel truth. And has also been mentioned, Verizon has never given an official date for release, so technically there cannot be a delay in release (yes, I know that it may have been delayed internally because of bugs, but that is why Verizon never gave a public date). It seems like whenever the closest rumored date passes, everyone gets up in arms with Verizon for not releasing it on that date, when Verizon never gave that date. And then a new rumor is championed within the next couple of hours.

That being said, just because Verizon hasn't broken their word doesn't mean that they are handling the release well. I know some have proposed that they should give an update that there has been technical issues which have delayed the phone. Personally, if I was selling a product I wouldn't give out information about glitches that would be fixed before the release; all it would do is erode support. What I would do is after a while (34 days since the Verizon SGN signup went live) is at least send out an email saying something along the lines of "Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about you, we are just as excited about this phone as you, we will let you know as soon as we have more information, here is a preview of a new feature of ICS/phone". While a lot of people wouldn't be happy with no release, I would think that it would at least calm some of the tension.

Not trying to offend anyone, but this is a perfect example of GIGO - garbage in garbage out. Until we have solid reliable info, I can't trust any release date rumor. If I had to go with my gut, I would say Dec 8th, but again that is my gut feeling, which is the way I felt before Thanksgiving.

I guess what I'm trying to get at is that through now, Verizon has not lied, gone back on there word, or deceived any of us; we've done that to ourselves. However, doesn't mean that I approve of how Verizon is handling things.

If they test all the way through the launch, then why would the "source" say that they are still testing... that would be a given.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I get up every day and check this site expecting to see a release date. I'm done, the phone will release when it will release. If I need to get a phone before then, so be it.

Well I'm just going to float off into space and lurk till we hear word from Verizon. Fretting over speculation and rumors isn't making the phone come any quicker. If there's one thing that is seemingly certain is that an announcement will be made some time this month (going off rumor or VZW's official press release). What that announcement amounts to is really anyone's guess.

A VZW CSR that actually has usefull information for a paying customer when they need to know it.

I wonder if phone manufactures are sorry that Verizon is #1 and they have to play their game. Their at the mercy of the #1 carrier. At least they have other versions of the phone to release other than the LTE.

If my friends and family weren't all on Verizon I would jump ship and go with AT&T for the SG2.

If they do push it back to January I don't think I will wait for it.

Good idea, ty!

edit: done!

I'm giving up for now, folks. Apparently I need an updated sim to get roaming partner coverage at the new house, there is actually coverage I didn't know about. The lack of coverage at the new house was my only reason for switching to Verizon. VZW has just confirmed my prior attitude toward them with the way they handled this launch.

I may still try the GNex on VZW, especially if the coverage near the new place doesn't pan out, but I'm going to be trying first and foremost to keep my service working with a company I really like, T-Mobile.

I'll keep lurking and maybe posting and hanging out in IRC. May the GNex be released soon.

what is your signal strength like? Most people don't realize how HUGE of a difference signal strength can make.

But even that, would be a stretch for a 1/4 in a hour. sounds like you got a lemon :(

I'd be inclined to agree. Poor signal strength and constantly switching from 3G to 4G (or seeking a 4G signal) is gonna eat battery and affect web browsing to some degree. If that can be eliminated as a factor and a reset doesn't help, an exchange may be in order.

Sad to see ya go. I hope you at least lurk and give us your 2cents now and then.
