***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I think my post got lost in the plethora of posts, and I really would like to know if anyone can answer:

Does a new Nexus come out every year like the iPhone?? I ask because I would be less inclined to switch phones every 2 months :).

I'm sorry if your question got lost in all the Wallet and wawa talk. The answer is yes, Google usually introduces a new nexus every year to showcase their new OS and promote technology they want to advance (like NFC).

All excelent points, but you forgot one:

  • There is not enough stock in stores

Careful, I got chastised by some when I stated I could not find a single VZW Corporate, non-corporate, Costco, RS or BB that had one single unit in stock on Long Island. The best I got was one RS that said he 'might' get a few in today but couldn't sell them.

Some thought that everyone was lying to me. ;)

Yup, absolutely correct. By the time this thing launches, we'll be a short time away from the next best thing. In fact this phone might have an amazingly short time as top dog. It's really ashame.

But as this and another review stated, once you strip ICS away from the GNex, you're left with 'nice' but not really 'outstanding' hardware. That's been my concern from day one and is partly the result of prior bad experiences with Samsung hardware (think GPS & radios).

The good thing about reading a mixed review like this, is that it makes me less nuts about the wait as the result of lowering my expectations. It makes me think more like 'when it comes it comes, no biggie'. ;)

There is always going to be a next best thing around the corner. This will still be the best Android phone 4-6 months from now. Beyond that - quad cores will likely steal the show.

Thanks, I just picked up the Beach LWP and the Paper Camera. Looks pretty cool. :)

Edit: Your list doesn't seem to be consistent with what is actually offered in the Market...

I've actually never purchased an app in the market you have to pay for. :)

Everything I have is free. I tried it once and for some reason it never completed, so I just gave up on it

It took me forever to purchase anything, but once you set up your CC with Google Check out (I believe you can do it online as well as on your phone), it becomes addicting buying apps. The most expensive one I got was $6 (Tasker) but most other ones are just a buck or two. Also, it's always a great way to support excellent developers. (Plus, I've yet to get a paid app that still has ads ;))

The Market is still showing yesterday's list on the front page, but if you click the links to each app in the AC story, or search in the Market, you'll see that the ones I listed are 10 cents.

Oh okay, cool. I think thinking about picking up SlideIT. I never really liked Swype, but at $.10 (I think it's usually 3 or 4 bucks), I guess it's worth a shot.
