***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Okay so I just called one RadioShack and they've said they had trouble ringing up the galaxy nexus yesterday but have them in stock. A sales rep just told me it might go on sale today or maybe tomorrow, this is of course just at this specific radioshack but I am a little skeptical. The rep said he would save the last 1 in stock today for me but I don't know how they have only 1 left. I think that would mean they sold the others yesterday even though there was trouble ringing it up?

I just came from a Z-Com Authorized Retailer and he said they're talking about a launch between the 17th and the 24th.

I dont even know what say about that..

Is it also possible to ring the charges of an upgrade to the vzw account when you're at a 3rd party retail store? Thanks in advance!!

Which is the one that feels really smooth and matte? (is it olephobe?) Its the one where you can just slide your finger without that sticky feeling. I know it hurts image quality but I LOVE the feel.

These are from summer 2010 surely they have changed their packaging and product line, but the one on the left in yellow was the one back then. It killed screens clarity though, but it would not smudge no matter what you did to it with your own body oil!

I'm not surprised that Google Wallet is part of the issue with release (not saying delay as I feel since it was never officially announced it can't be delayed). I've also kept track of financial news the last few weeks for Verizon and I see that they appear to be going full steam ahead with video streaming, partnering with companies other than Google - isn't that an area that Google is also pursuing?

And I also believe that Google with ICS, Samsung with the hardware and Verizon with LTE are believing this is as huge of an opportunity as ever to make a dent into the fruit company's arena - something they all want to work amazingly out of the gate.

Look at it like politicians - republican voters for the most part vote republican, not much of a need to sell them, same with democrats. Most of their efforts are towards convincing the undecideds - we're not the undecideds here, are we?

If anyone is in Las Vegas - go to Burger Bar in Mandalay Place. It's by far the best burger I've ever had. Tremendous place.

I secong Burger Bar, even though I'm not sure if it was really that good or if paying that much for a hamburger ($16 at the time) made me think it was that good. Best cheaper burger for me was Howards Pub on Ocracoke Island, NC

I also found out most stores around my area apparently received only 1 in stock but then again that could be a lie for commission in order to sell the products when it launches.

I agree, thats important also. I really don't know which are best for that. but i do know the Stein's are acceptably smooth and glide good. But i don't know if enough for your liking. But they are not "non-smooth", that much i can tell you....

OT:

Why would anyone name their store either Wawa or Sheetz? That sounds terrible!

Probably ninja'd..

No idea about Wawa but Sheetz is actually the founder's last name, Bob Sheetz. It's a rather nice gas station/convenience store. 24 hour kitchen to get food, coffee bar and a beer cave/walk-in cooler. What's not to love?

I used to live in Charlotte, NC and Big Daddy's Burger Bar is amazing!!!

The bacon cheeseburger on steroids with Baconaise is awesone!! Baconnaise = mayonaise made with bacon grease:eek::eek:

Bacon Cheeseburger on Steroids - burger seasoned with bacon salt,
3 pieces of jalape

Anyone ever try Skinomi? I'm leaning towards that but feel like it'd be a pain the *** to put on.. but don't really feel like playing 30+ for a Zagg and Installation from best buy

Used a Skinomi and it didn't last. Started peeling at the edges within 4 months. I have a Steinheil Crystal now and it has been great. There are some cheaper ones that are just as good, but you have to look around to find the ones that people have tried and give good reviews to.

So for some of you who may not know, I currently have no phone at all- Imagine how bad I am waiting for the GN! To those who are talking about the phone possibly being canceled- get your mind out of the gutter!!

I had to get one in order to try to get the unlimited data with mhs, which I did yesterday :) Hoping it sticks and then I'll exchange phone for nexus :)

OT:
Well, if you get really nostalgic for the battle can pop over my way.. a few years back the woods behind my house became protected land when a contractor stumbled across trenches while preparing to clear it for yet another neighborhood of townhomes.. turns out they were emplacements from the first battle of Bull Run. Since then, I get archaeologists from the local universities showing up every summer to practice their excavation techniques.

OT: Bull Run/Civil War

Very cool. I do family history research as a hobby and I have two 2nd Great Grandfathers who fought at Bull Run. The information available about which units fought in Civil War battles is amazing. I have at least five 2nd great grandfathers that fought in various battles in the Civil War. Most survived. One I know died during the battle at Mine Run/Payne's farm in Virginia. Interesting stuff.

He's wrong. Although a couple of RS stores have finally confirmed they have stock (Yeah, the first ones in my area!), they have all said the date is the 15th.

On another note, I've been told by several retailers (including VZW) if you are out of contract, you can open a 'dummy line' for $10/month and get the new phone on your existing data line at the reduced price.

Does this sound correct? That would mean that you'd be obligated to a cost of $240 over 2 years, but rather than pay $650 for the phone, you'd pay $299.

Yet I was also told by RS that no, you'd need the new line to also carry the data package and you'd need a new phone #. Pretty divergent stories.

I guess the thread is a bit slow >< but is there anyone who could answer this question for me please and thank you!

Wasn't there someone just a few minutes ago who was being rung up at the Radio Shack? What happened to that?

I just called a few in my area, and the only one that was forthcoming said that they received emails early this morning telling them to put all stock inside a cage, lock them up, and ignore them until Verizon gives a release date.

Frakking nazi's.

Your cost of the phone with this senario is $539 ($ for phone + $ for new line) vs $650...not much savings.

I called my local Radio Shack this morning and they got one in last night. He said that he can sell it to me and im in here now waiting to be rang up. i will let you guys know how it goes.

So was he able to ring you up or did they run into problems? Anyone try to buy the phone at full price yet? Wondering if you wanted to buy it at full price and the sku wouldn't work they may just sell under a generic sku.

This is what I did when I got my droid. Add a line, you're paying for it over the next 2 years, but you can switch the phones between lines and just use a dummy phone on the new line and you won't have to have the data package.

Eh, not as delicious tasting
(alright, I can't get so dirty minded this early in the morning)

BTW, I really miss that place. Five Guys is nearly as good an there's a ton of them in the DC area (it's home). Since most of our West Coast'rs are still sleeping should we get a leg up on the In n Out vs. Five Guys debate :D

I was actually disappointed when I finally got to try In n Out. It's not bad, but wasn't worth the hype imo. If you're in DC, you need to try Shake Shack. Ray's Hell Burger in Arlington and The Counter in Reston are pretty good too.

I'll chime in to food talk, doesn't really have anything to do with meats from Texas or burgers, but since I moved to SC from central NY, I miss good food. Actual pizza, not this Pizza Hut, Domino's and Pappa John's crap. NY pizza is the best thing in the world to me right now because I miss it so much. That and everywhere I go other than CNY, the wings suck even worse. Wings anywhere around the country other than the Buffalo/CNY area are just puny and awful. Plus how I grew up was a strict Italian food diet :) mmmmm. Thank God my sister down here knows how to make sauce and riggies or I would have died already...

Pizza talk is so 50,000 posts ago. :D lol

Oh man these money sucking grubby animals! I'm going to probably waste my time going down to one who said he's going to sell it and come back home empty handed but I guess it's worth a shot? People around my area seem to be taking in orders for reservation. Guess it's the whole launch release date holding everyone and everything. Thanks though for letting me know what's going on with the radioshacks in your area! :D
