***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

OT Question:
I recently aquired a 37" Panasonic TV/Monitor, with no coaxial hook up. I'm trying to use it for TV, and I have bought a digital tuner, but the tuner doesn't find any channels when I hook up my cable (from the wall, in an apartment).

What do I need to correct this? RF Modulator? Will that make the tuner recognize the channels? If not, what will?

Here's how I have it now...

Cable > Ant IN (tuner) > RCA out to TV

Does it need to be Cable > RF Ant IN > TV Out to ANT In (tuner) > RCA out to TV?

A lot of people are wanting this phone badly and will run out Thursday to pick it up, but nobody is talking about Unlocking the Bootloader and rooting it right away? Why not?
Will majority not root?:o

I am a busy man. I would like to do it but if it works fine without doing this process, I am going to leave it as is.

Anyone know if third-party retailers like Best Buy and Radio Shack sell the accessories? I really want the extended battery, but if I can only get it at a corporate Verizon store, that limits my purchase options.

I ordered all my accessories last week (received on Friday) for the GN from VZ telesales. Already got the extended battery and OEM high gloss case.

Call 866-745-4679 8am to 11pm ET.

I don't know about the majority, but I'm for sure unlocking and rooting as soon as I bring the phone home. The reason for doing this is that unlocking the bootloader requires a factory reset, so I'd rather do it right away even if I don't plan on necessarily using it right away, just for the sake of not having to wipe everything when I'm already settled in to the phone.

OT - football

What the heck, I'll put my 2 cents in here. I really hope that Denver beats New England this weekend since it could help the Steelers in the standings at the end of the year and also because I HATE New England. Of all the teams Tebow has beaten are any of them the same caliber as the Patriots, no, not in my opinion. Tebow has been able to come back at the end of the games to barely beat crappier teams, not sure he'll be able to comeback against the Patriots. Just my 2 cents though.

OT if i get to see tebow versus the Steelers in the first round, i want to see Dick LeBeau dial up the blitz

Might be a dumb question but don't digital tuners have to be "registered" with the cable company? Next question would be did you register yours?

Ill be bringing my laptop with me when I pick it up. If I have to activate it in the store, then when I go out to the parking Im unlocking/rooting and letting it wipe before I start adding my apps to it.

Half the fun is resetting everything after flashing . :p

Can you root and directly recieve updates from Google/VZ or do you have to use a devs rom?
Havent rooted in awhile lol

The velcro one worries me a bit because I'd hate to have the thing rip open and spill the phone onto the concrete, but it will accommodate a case if necessary.

After looking at those its just as cost effective for me to find a wristlet wallet that looks prettier. I did put the second case in my wish list though. :D

I want the phone in my hand before I think about doing anything. I will most likely root it but I don't see myself loading any custom ROMs on it.

I will be unlocking and rooting immediatly...the custom roms out already look amazing and are always better than the stock one. I dont know if any are for the CDMA verizon version, i have not read that far yet but i assume they will have some out shortly...i think P3 had one out for us before he got stripped of his GN

Personally I will be jumping ship to the Rezound because my current phone only has a 14-day return period. If this Thursday doesn't pan out, I only have until Monday then I have to make a decision or else I risk getting stuck with my LG. :(

But otherwise...YES. :D

Extended Holiday return period - if you bought from corporate store you have until 1/15.

Honest question here ... why is everybody obsessed with knowing the reason for the delay? Why does it matter?

...

But whatever the reason, what difference does it make? The phone will be out when Verizon is ready to release it. Knowing how they arrived at that date won't make it any sooner.

Well .. for me .. without writing a book, I'm fed up with vzw.

During these few weeks, other phones and tablets have come out, but the Nexus keeps getting pushed off. Now, if it was/is a hardware, software, or LTE glitch/hickup, then that is understandable.

But, VZW is becoming the Apple of the carriers; controlling, paranoid, nasty. And that is why I have an Android phone to begin with .... FREEDOM.

So if I knew what the delay was, I could vote with my wallet. Because that is how sick of VZW I am. I'll give them the "best network" award, but beyond that, they suck.

It would just be nice to know the truth. And also it would be nice to occasionally get the feeling that they appreciated loyal customers and provided some REAL information so we wouldn't have to speculate about EVERYTHING.

I'm getting a little fed up with the secrecy BS from VZW. I walked into a VZW store this weekend and acted dumb, asking if they had the GNex in yet. The store manager gave me a knowing giggle, said 'we don't know anything', turned around and walked off. This kind of behaviour is so irritating.
