Root [ROM]|Feb 6 2012| Energy

Okay, sounds good. Yeah I don't want anything other than just my voice mails going to GV so I guess it was also good that I went with that set-up.

And in my personal opinion, it's flawless. Even when I had a borked phone for a few days, when I got my new phone and signed into GV, those new voicemails were in the application. Also, you can set it up to get a gmail of your voicemail, that way, if your phone is turned off and you're at the computer, you can see that someone left you a GV voicemail message or you can open up GV on the computer and you will see the same thing;)

Has anyone else been getting the "Radio Interface Resource Shortage" error when trying to send a text? I have been getting it like crazy the last few days and I am trying to figure out if it is from this ROM or something else wrong with my phone. If anyone knows any fixes I would love to hear them.

I've never had that issue before, but I looked something up on XDA you should read:

Hope this helps! :)

Wifi works fine.:D

If you decide to flash a custom kernel, you will have to do the mount/unmount data trick.

Boot to recovery
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Go to mounts, mount data
Flash custom kernel
Go to mounts, unmount data
Reboot phone
Just an FYI...Im running the latest version of Energy and the new Anthrax kernel on my inactive phone, I followed your mount/unmount procedure, but you have to do it immediately after flashing the Kernel, because if you follow the Kernel directions, it says to wipe cache/dalvik right after flashing, but if you do that, it mounts data again, not sure if it makes a difference, but I reflashed it anyway, per procedure....then I stood on my head...patted my belly and turned around 3 times etc...Lmao!:D:eek: really though...this seems to be a speedy setup, I was wanting to experiment before putting it on my active phone, looks like everything works that I can test anyway!:)

Anyone know how to do a profile or prl update on this ROM, it is not in the settings menu like other ROMS.

Also does it matter what prl a phone has that is normally used in Florida and then the phone goes up north to the Chicago region for like a week? I installed this ROM on my brothers phone and he is going to the Chicago/Michigan area for a week and he wants to know if he will still get the same coverage there that he does here in Florida without changing his prl.

i do not think that you can do that on this rom. all the sense 3.5 roms are ports from the verizon phone, runnymede. so i doubt that you can update those. you will have to make a nandroid backup and then flash a sense rom that is not 3.5 to update prl and profile then nandroid restore back to this rom.

Okay, I also tossed up the idea of just doing it manually (Manually Update PRL), but the main thing I am trying to figure out is if my brother will be okay running prl 60683 in that part of the country or does it not matter what prl he is currently on? I have read so much about prl's but I just still cannot understand them fully. I just hate for him to get up there and then he has no service.

He will be fine on that PRL, it will not affect his service in any way

Okie dokie...thanks! He will only be gone ten days, but these days ten days is like a lifetime with your phone working.

I know that feeling, I've been running this rom for a while now and the 12/25 is one of the best and most stable 3.5 roms out there, imo;) Add in chad's kernel and this baby flies:)

I'll have to give this Rom another go. I haven't tried it in quite a while. I keep comming back to Newts Supersonic3D RC1.2.
Does this version have the "tweaks" app like in Miks roms?

This ROM is awesome! It does have the tweaks and they seem to be pretty advanced like being able to change your fonts and stuff.

NRG is part of RCMix now so the 12/25 release has the tweaks installed. They work as they should

Has anyone tried using GO Launcher with this ROM? I have just been getting bored with Sense and wanted to try something different and GO looks pretty cool.

Just wondering what anyone else thought are on this.

OK, at the risk of sounding stupid, can someone provide a layman's explanation for me? I have an EVO and understand what Sense ism but I'm trying to explain this to my mother, who's a new Epic owner.

What exactly IS "Sense" and what is Go Launcher Pro? Are they competing and separate, so to speak? What does the latter do?

I've been trying to explain this to my mom, but it's a case of I kinda know, but it's difficult to explain to someone.

Sense, is the User Interface (UI) that HTC uses to interact with the operating system.

Without Sense it is an Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and is exactly what Google released for code.

Go Launcher is just a different launcher for your home screens. Some of the ones in the market have more things you can adjust in them.

I hope that helps and if I made a mistake I'm sure someone will help correct me.

Naters

That hosting site sucks, I can't get the damn thing to download.

Yea, it took me 2 times to get a successful download:( I've always downloaded roms directly to my phone but I'm not sure why NRG changes his download sites:confused:

Not sure I like the ICS animations but the rom is nice and smooth like the more recent builds:)

Sorry - this is long because I think I switched from an answer to a rant - but read on if you want :)

Hi - since I've been fighting with Sprint since I got the first Evo 4G, I haven't rooted (since they keep accusing me of it as an excuse for all the problems). I have the same problem you have with the SMS Errr - Radio Interface Resource Shortage intermittently. I'm in a 3G no 4G location and I don't have wifi on. I just powered off my phone, put in a new fully charged battery, restarted the phone, and got the error before I tried to do anything. I also over the past few weeks, maybe even a month, get fast busy signals, no voicemail (use GV but when this problem occurs it doesn't connect with GV), and other strange errors. Sprint has told me 1) you are "under a tower so your service will suck" - I guess it's a newer tower about 2 miles from me because they never used that excuse before; 2) you are bouncing off a Verizon tower so it's Verizon's fault (doh? and btw when I travel to Sprint free areas that only have Verizon my service is sooooo much better); 3) it must be my phone - the old hard reset story (which of course has been done close to 100 times over the past two years); 4) no one else has reported this problem so much be your phone (even though I saw it reported in Florida and other areas in the past). Sprint told me that they needed all my versioning (which was all up to date) and then that was the end of the call other than to tell me I could sign up for another two years (since I'm out of contract they are really pushing that - and the reason I'm out of contract is that I havent' had good service since I switched to the Evo).

Although I don't have an answer for you - sorry - I thought I'd let you know it's not specifically related to a rooted version, and if it's related to the hw it's kinda weird that it started happening to many people around the same time.

I wish they would open a general support ticket and we could all use that ticket # to report outages so they could troubleshoot, but I don't think they understand that concept.

This ROM is by far the smoothest one yet. I think I found my daily driver!
