Root [S-OFF] LazyPanda S-OFF for LTEvo[Locked or Unlocked devices]

Now, boot into the bootloader and check your version.

The latest is 1.12.2222

If you have an earlier version, go to the LazyPanda site, and download the PJ75IMG.zip file to /sdcard2 or /mnt/sdcard/ext_sd - same thing.

Check the md5 sum - do NOT skip that step.

Boot into bootloader, select Bootloader - follow on screen instructions to install.

When done, remove the PJ75IMG.zip file from /sdcard2 then boot into bootloader and confirm the version.

Alternatively, you can just run Bootloader Customizer from a PC, but where is the fun in that? :)

which post is that zip in? I can not find it! tia

Ok then, now I have this fastboot flashing hboot. Don't know if I will ever use it or not though, might come in handy though.

BUT: I also have the red disclaimer on the htc splash screen again!?

How do i get rid of that? Use Regaw red de writer again or one of the tools he made?

I would use the Bootloader Customizer unless Regaw comes back and says his earlier zip to remove it is still safe.

This being a new hboot rev, I am reluctant to advise otherwise.

Posing the question to Regaw now.

Yes! I finally achieved S-OFF!! I literally tried 25+ times with 0 luck. Uninstalled drivers, reinstalled, installed other drivers, tried different USB ports and so many other frustrating things I can't remember now. Then I remembered my own motto "EVERYTHING ANDROID RELATED GOES SO MUCH SMOOTHER WITH LINUX". Booted into Linux, worked 100%, first try. Oy am I angry at my self once again. But very happy to be successful. :D

Now for that red HTC warning text: EXTERMINATE! :dalek:

Had a few free moments @ work this morning, and again decided to take the S-OFF plunge.

Rooted this time using the Zedomax method, then downloaded the drivers from the LazyPanda site.

Bamboo found, eaten, reboot, success. :D

Have yet to encounter the text/call issues other have, but I did proactively make sure profile/prl were updated immediately after running this on my own, so that may have circumvented it.

Wish I knew where the error was in the previous attempt @ this, as I didn't do anything differently this time around. SDCard remained in tact w/ all data remaining as well.

In any event, happy...happy....happy!

all righty then. To be perfectly clear, and not make an a$$ of myself by assuming anything.

I already have the bootloader in question from the lazypanda zip. This zip would be the one i would want to flash NOW to remove the red disclaimer text?

measure twice, cut once. and keep anything you want to keep out of the blades!

Exactly :) Even if you have the old lazypanda bootloader, this will update it to the latest, while maintaining s-off and removing the red disclaimer text.

Ok. Thank you very much!

edit: YES! I am merely quietly brilliant again with no blood showing!

being the curious fellow that i am, I need to ask and confirm. At this point now, could I run your customizer tool if I wanted to?

I imagine if it is now safe for me to run, I could create more than one zip with different customizations, if I didn't have a life or anything. Is this correct as well?

Oh, and by the way, Enjoyed listening to Calendar Girl, been a while since I heard THAT one! :)

You can run the Bootloader Customizer now, instead of flashing the no-red-text update. Get the latest version to be safe, it will update your bootloader and let you control text at the same time.

Question : Is S-Off needed or recommended? I was able to get the ROM's I've used so far up and running without it.

On Viper it was telling me it couldn't find a microSD (I don't have one right now) and then exited. Haven't tried it with my current ROM.

The site suggests that you backup your external sd card as it might mess with the contents so that leads me to believe you need one for the operation.

And you are correct, S-OFF doesn't REALLY seem to be necessary. You can flash roms and I read radios as well. So take that for what it is.

I am not technically informed as to the actual benefits of being S-OFF on this phone, and I did it before anyone was having any trouble with it. They have an unbrick guide now too, so that takes away some of the fear factor, but you need to make up your own mind if you want to get that particular education or not. :D

Needed? No. General consensus is that most everything can be flashed through the HTCDev unlocked route.

Recommended? If you'd like "total control" of your phone. It ultimately will make flashing things less tedious, but definitely do your research before making the jump. If done correctly, it'll be quick and painless. Miss a step, and you could have a temporary paperweight (easily fixed, however.)

I s-off'd my phone solely so I could have full access without flagging my phone through htc as being unlocked. I don't see where what I do with my phone is any of theirs, or Sprints business.

If you've already unlocked through htcdev I don't think it really matters too much. The only other benefit is being able to flash zips through the bootloader which really simplifies changing recoveries and such.

The only things I can think of at the moment that require s-off are: flashing a new bootloader and removing the red HTC warning text. Oh and customizing your bootloader.

accomplished with no issues

first rooted via (will add link later)
ran lazy panda per directions (windows version)
used goo app to install twrp recovery
