Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] n00b (B10 based) VIII.II FULL Install 1/23/2013

Just a request, but could you create a flashable zip that would make the swap size at least 512 mb (preferably 1 gb) and increase swappiness above 60 percent (preferable 80 percent)? I notice that I get extreme close to maxing out my 256 mb of swap memory (only have 25 mb free at the moment). Thanks!

It uses internal memory, so if you got the space for it. Haha. It's something that I wanted to test out. :)

I need to look around and find out what file to edit for this, and see if I can tweak it to run a bit better on my phone. I haven't had much time lately to even browse around the files LOL

You can use apps to set the swap, but I'd rather use the computer to do it.

What I did was I downloaded the file that MrBobo sent me and opened it with BetterZipTools - a mac program that lets me explore and edit zip files without having to extract them (7zip is a good one for PCs). Then I located and opened the "S03swap" file (system/etc/init.d/S03swap). There, I edited the size of the swap partition and then the swappiness (it'll be clear where to edit them when you open it). Then save it (as opposed to "save as"). It should have updated the zip with the modified file. Then transfer the file to your phone's sd card and flash it in CWM or TWRP. Voila! You have made your own swap file.

p.s. The first reboot after making the flash may take a while.
 
well thats the big problem right now.my computer crashed and burned(and i do mean that in a literal sense.lol) 2 days ago..now i cant change my prl..the worst part is that i was about 90% done with making my first ever custom rom,working on it for 3 months..and POOF!!Lost all the shit on my computer..harddrive burned up.so the whole using a computer to do the swapper is kinda out of the question.lol

Im not sure,:confused: but maybe you can download the file to your phone, unzip it with a file editor, make the changes, then save and flash? :confused: I have edited my build prop file in a similar way several times doing it that way.:D Of course the build prop file is not a zip file:mad: I just putting this out there for info, maybe one of the guys can chime in and give more info?:confused:

If you're talking custom rom building...it is possible this way.
 
lol.i know.im no noob.im just not very familiar with the whole swapper thing.only reason im asking is cuz my fone wont stop lagging.i mean bad laggy.used to be when i touched an app it would almost be instant,now it can sumtimes take up to 10 seconds on some apps to startup.tried the lag fix zip and it still the same.any ideas?

Edit the swap size and swappiness. That might help.
