Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] n00b (B10 based) VIII.II FULL Install 1/23/2013

Should I be ok to swap keyboard by making SwiftKey a sys app then uninstalling provided keyboard.?

Oh.. And let me not forget! This is bomb.com! Thank you. No longer looking for a new phone lol

As long as it saves in the same file format. I tried to do it through es explorer. It saved a text document and made the original a bak file (backup). It obviously didn't work because of the file format issue.

I didn't think to check that part... Grrrr. Oh well... I'll just deal with what I have

Wow. Swap at 1024mb, 100% swappiness is kicking like you wouldn't believe. Almost no lag at all. Granted, I'm also using seeder 2.0, clocked at 1.6 Ghz smartassv2/sio.

interesting conversation guys, good stuff. Yes edit it directly, reboot, the file explorer I included has a good text editor so you should have everything you need, just go to /system/etc/init.d/ and open S03swap and change it how you want it, the size is in xxxxxx so 256mb is 256000 etc.

Swappiness is obvious once you open the file, change it from 0-100, 60 is the stock value.

For a discussion on minfree values do a google search if you want to mess with that.

You don't need to make swiftkey a system app or uninstall the one I included, once you activate swiftkey the other one will just go away.

welcome aboard!

for the lag issue you have been having, if you are on the latest update, it's got to be either an app or apps and/or files on the sd card. I would look at any apps that run constantly (go to settings/applications running services to figure that out) I found facebook to be a huge resource drain, turning off notifications on that app seemed to make my phone run better. Other apps that update a lot like news apps etc might also make the phone run slow.

Sometimes something on the sd card can really cause issues too, for example if you unzip a ROM or something like that android will actually see those system files and get confused. So cleaning up your sd card can help especially if you have that kind of stuff unzipped on it.

By the way Mr. Bobo, my wife lives her new warp with n00b on it. She couldn't believe I had her new phone activated, swapped files and rooted with a new ROM in less than 10 min yesterday. Great stuff!

It's likely facebook... Its always facebook LOL... Stupid app. But I changed to 512mb and if I remember 80 swappiness and things seem a bit better. Oh, and I enabled some profiles on setcpu. But a short while ago my wife called, and I saw the phone icon, but the interface was slightly delayed. Not sure what I might do to fix that though.

Thanks. I ended up freezing provided keyboard because some apps would load it as key board and others would load SwiftKey... Unsure why but seems to be fine now.
Seriously this shiz is the biz man. Thanks again

I have seen that delay issue as well. Depending on the profiles you set it could have something to do with set cpu. I have found in my experience that setting a profile for phone calls or screen off sometimes causes lag issues as the app must react, calculate which profile should be used, disable current profile, enable the new profile etc.

I had the delay issue before I ever set profiles

Question. So the higher number takes from the sd card and adds ram to the internal memory? I kinda understand. So you have it set at 5 something so that can be used to swap from phone to sd card and then when you want to use that program it swaps another program instead of shutting it down?

Ack my brain...

Mr. Bobo, I am running your noob rom vIII.I I had it disconnected to another phone, I had it reactivated for a friend with it still rooted and running your rom, when I give them the Dec number for new activation first looking under the status the Dec number only showed 17 numbers n I was needed to give them 18 numbers, (solved this by getting under the battery) (was just letting u no in case it was a fault in the rom) but my question is, the port still isn't active (meaning service hadn't established on boosts side yet) but I wondered do I got to have it unrooted and back to factory specs in order to get the service to establish to the phone? Any help is appreciated I just wanna make sure there's no gonna be an issue with the service pushing thru to the phone...

I'm not positive, but I dont think so, the rom and being rooted should'nt stop them from activating the phone. ;)

Then you likely face the same issue I always have which is too many apps running in the background doing too much at one time. Facebook, any weather app in the PlayStore, Twitter, ESPN Mobile, etc. Apps like these that update often through the use of data cause lag issues in any ROM. Especially the old stock ROM. Can we live without them? Sure. Do they make things easier sometimes? Sure. But in reality here we are dealing with a polished turd for a phone when compared to the speed of a phone like the S2 with its dual core processor, 16GB of on board storage, and the full 1GB of RAM. Don't get me wrong, I love my Warp, and it will pass along to my wife when I retire it soon, but if not for the Devs of this community we would be in much worse shape than we are. They have done an outstanding job of taking a low to mid range device and turning it into and upper mid range device.

Utry shouldn't matter about the rom, as long as boost has the number from under the battery they should be good to go, they should call boost if it's not connecting.

there should be no issue, if there seems to be. I would activate online much faster. any wayz. reboot to recovery and wipe system dalvik/cashe. or wipe/data factory reset. depending on recovery you have.

Trust me, this I know. Facebook is my culprit, but I've simmered it down enough to be fine. When you run a business, and are on fb allot dealing with vendors and consumers... Its a must have. :-) but I've got fb pretty well under control now... When I need it to be.

Can I use the themes people made for version vi and vii on the new update??

The themes in the op...is the system ui the same in VIII as VII?
