Any information on the nexus 5 as of yet or is this not the place to ask .....
Samsung does a lot of things right, but I do have an issue with the plastic they use to make their phones.
They just feel inferior.
That's not to say I don't have/use Samsung phones. But HTCs phones in particular feel premium in your palm. Like a $650 piece of technology should.
I'm just saying without their software additions(which would be absent in a nexus), you aren't left with much else.
Is the whole signal issue with aluminum really that bad? People with the One say that if your hands is covering up the signal steps on the back, you'd signal can go in and out real bad.
My main concern with aluminum would be the scratching. But honestly plastic doesn't bother me. As long as it feels good in the hand, I'm cool with it. That was the first thing I noticed when I first held my N4, it felt very solid in the hand. Was surprised honestly. You read about it but you don't actually know until you hold it then it all makes sense.

I never have issues with my evo LTE. The antenna is built into the back housing, but im fairly certain that particular piece is metal. I'll have to double check on that.
Edit: that particular section may be plastic. They claim its for NFC. Not necessarily radio signal
Its just even just the aluminum. Even htcs plastic flagship devices from a few years ago felt solid. Its just that particular plastic Samsung uses. Creaky battery doors, cheap feel
if only google added new features to there phones that way there phones can get more popular=p
Google has positioned the nexus brand cheaply to get into the hands of as many as possible.
$650+ just isn't in the cards for most people.
I still believe we will see a true nexus device.
The "nexus experience" phones are not the same
Well, it's not that the device is subsidized by Google, it's that the device is sold with a very small profit window. The GS4 and One are more expensive because Samsung and HTC are putting a much larger profit margin on the device to make money. When Google & it's partner make the Nexus device, it's sold basically at the break even point. The very small margin goes to the manufacturer, and Google breaks even and attempts to regain it through the play store.the only thing that's not the same is that they don't have the Nexus branding (whoop de doo)
and they are not subsidized prices...which most of the nexus phones from the play store are subsidized by Google...
I understand that the price is the big deal...because yeah...I am not dishing out more than a months rent on a friggin phone, no matter how glorious it may be...
I personally do not think they will be releasing any more nexus devices anytime soon....they are going to see how this Google/Nexus Experience program works out for them and then they'll decide...
and as for a Manufacturer of a Nexus device......how about HTC?...honestly...they have decent devices...and it is about their turn anyways right?
Not quite.the only thing that's not the same is that they don't have the Nexus branding (whoop de doo)

that is literally the only difference...

I don't think the Nexus devices are going to sell exceptionally well. Nexus phones don't sell well compared to the mainstream flagships and they're unlocked, off contract, and cheap. I don't think a device that's 300 dollars more expensive is going to sell any better. It will have a niche market, but it's a rather small one. The average American consumer is addicted to carrier subsidies and without them won't even consider it.
HTC did make the Nexus One 3 years ago. It was a decent device hardware wise at the time, but didn't get enough publicity to sell well. I still stand by my choice of wanting ASUS to make a Nexus phone. I would also like to see what Sony could bring to the table, but would be alright with HTC or Motorola. I just don't want another Samsung Nexus.

next Nexus will be the Motorola X
