Root 1984kbps!!speedtest.net results after a couple of tweaks

With Monsters method you don't have to use the MSL. You just run Script Manager then run his script and it puts it in DL mode. This makes the phone readable on a COM port so CDMA can pick it up. Then you just go through the motions of changing to a prl that you have on your computer. I just did it the other day on CM7 and it's very easy. It took me about 5 minutes to do it.

Ya, I had tried and tried that. Even though it said it was enabled and running, CDMA Workshop would connect to the com port but wouldn't read. I spent a few hours the other day with no results.

So I thought it would be easier to just odin back instead of spending hours trying to figure out why it wasn't working. Definitely glad I did it that way, no issues whatsoever. :)

No problem man, more than one way to skin a cat (i have always though that was the worst analogy, but none the less)

Ok, so I am able to get into DM mode and Connect in CDMA Workshop, but when I click Under the Security tab and select Samsung (default) it says Failed..Device does not answer. I read in the instructions that you should select Samsung (default) as the password but that is not an option. Any ideas?

Make sure you're using the rigth com port. sounds like you're not

Hello all, I am having some trouble with this. I cannot get the numeric code to pull up anything. It doesn't seem as if I have the hiddentools.apk to do this? Also, after reviewing "cautery's" post here I do not believe that it is ever worth it. I am running CTMod 3.6, I have terminal emulator and have my MSL. I also have cdma. I would appreciate any advice to speed my connection speed up. I am drowning with 22kbps. Thanks in advance.

You cannot use these instructions to get your prl in this thread if you are on CTMod 3.6. But you can try this
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...496242-script-dm-cm7-ctmod-update-2-10-a.html

another guide if you do decide to switch to a different rom to change your prl.

or if that doesn't work

If you are running CM7 or any version above CTMod2.5 you will need to follow the instruction in this thread:
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...496242-script-dm-cm7-ctmod-update-2-10-a.html

OK, after you have activated the script you will need to do the following.

These instruction are modified from the original posted in the OP.

Open CDMA Workshop and select the serial port for your phone (In device manager, under Com ports, or Serial Ports, or something containing one of those words in the name, you might have to check the advanced tab for the device itself)

Click Connect

Under the security tab, Select Samsung (Sprint) for password (Samsung (Universal) on older versions of CDMA Workshop)

Click Send

On the "OTHER" Tab, click WRITE in the PRL box

Browse to the PRL file you downloaded elsewhere and select it.

It will tell you if the PRL has been successfully written to your phone or not. If it has, follow the prompt then close the CDMA window by clicking on the X in the upper right corner.

You will then have a window pop up. Select yes and the phone will reboot. Your PRL should now be changed.

I have tried on both the CDMA Worshop 2.7 and 3.8 and receive error message (Failed to write PRL for NAM1 - I tried NAM2 this is using CDMA 2.7) and (Process is stopped. Device does not answer - using CDMA 3.8.3 trial.) It connects via COM3 and COM5 unlocks the phone and then it will not write the PRL file.

I wish I could tell you what's wrong but I've never had a problem with getting CDMA to read my phone. Sorry but I don't know what else to tell ya. Maybe someone else who has experienced this can add some helpful tips that you can try.

That is interesting that you can get that far.
Upper left corner com#
Connect button
Read button
Security tab,Samsung(default),read or whatever, message says unlocked
Other tab, write, pick prl, save and exit.

Must be your phone. What rom are you on?

when I used script I had same problem but I didn't really investigate just Odin'd.
On stock I used
##8778#
and
##7679# (or was it 7976)
after i changed it my phone would reboot and then I could connect. this script does functions of both of these dialer codes?

one that reboots your phone was dun maybe? it's been a while but I think that's what it was.this script enables dun?

I had mentioned previously that I am running CTMod 3.6. I do not see the COM/PORT option in Device Manager (Running Vista). I did find the Samsung device under ADB Interface but it did not show the port it was on. I simply went through the list on CDMA until it connected (which it worked with COM3 and COM5). I did note that the Phone Information did not load, however. It did send and claim that it unlocked the phone. I would like to note that I ran the DmCm7.txt in ScriptManager and had enabled it before I ran the CDMA. I would hate to have to revert back to stock but if I must, I must.

first most important thing to do boot into recovery and make a backup then go here http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...-your-prl-ctmod-cm7-when-dm-scripts-fail.html its what i had to do im running prl 22085 hope this works for you i always go back to ctmod 2.5 to get cdma 2.7 to work to change prl then i just restore my backup for 3.6 in cwm

I have been messing with some of the dialer codes and was just wondering what the ##8778# does on GingerBread. It opens a menu labeled DM with the options:{UART & USB}. Thanks in advance to anyone that can answer.

That's the screen that lets you take it out of USB mode and put it in UART mode and it'll read on a COM port so you can use programs like CDMA . Then when you are finished using CDMA you will need to go back in to the menu and change it back to USB mode.

The script that MONSTER made for CM7 and the newer CTMods is much easier to use.

But then if you hit ##7678#, you get a data port menu with the options: {DM & UMS}. What's the difference between the 2 menu's?
