Root 1984kbps!!speedtest.net results after a couple of tweaks

you cant dial ##8778# to enter diagnostic mode from shevron rom, only from stock rom- so i had to flash to stock to enter dm, then i did in fact use cdma workshop to0 write the prl- see my point?

The easiest way to change your PRL is with CDMA Workshop (5 minutes) . Flashing a rom will not affect the PRL . The only way to do that is manually by updating PRL or using another program . ;):D

New Optimus figured out a way to switch to DL mode via Terminal Emul. . The tut is in the CM7 thread . I looked for a minute but it's buried in the thread . If you wanna look for it , it's from a bout 3 or 4 weeks back . I'll go ahead and tell you for sure it will work for CM7 . It may work for your rom too .

i'm on the transform ultra, does this CyanogenMod work for it? i dont even know what CyanogenMod is hehe, is it a replacement for clockwork mod?

I just tested this in $hevron on my TU and it works.. also [Monster] made a script you can run in script manager. Check out the thread for that:

and CyanogenMod is an official custom ROM for android and only the most wanted rom in any android community in the world.. No cyanogen has to be ported for every device. a prevail CM7 will not work on the TU.. but interdpth is already porting one for the TU. follow my directions above or use the script and you can put Shevron in DM mode like that

prl question - are they different for various regions? i put 01120 on my phone because i read that it was the newest.

Honestly I'm not sure if they are for dif regions but I know that people in dif regions have better results with dif PRLs. you just have to keep switching till you find the best one..

try one for 3 days. log what you get according to (speed & signal) and move on. when you've done em all. look back at your results and grab the best one
 
ok used adb from comand prompt //>adb shell getprop ril.MSLand it returned ******
so is this my MSL? very new to andriod and sdk / adb still learning
 
Im not sure if im doing this wrong, but I changed my prl about 10 times, same speed for all of them.. I don't see an increase and yeah. Did i do something wrong?

Nothing wrong just probably only one tower in your area so changing PRL's will never change your speeds.

No idea about that rom since it is not for the prevail you would have to consult the thread for that specific ROM. Of course have to check Transform Ultra specific threads for possible scrips.

The instructions here at least when it comes to build prop and some of the other info is Prevail specific so we can say how exactly to do it but it may be completely different for you. Could be the same though since the ultra transform is Samsung too.

Generally you wanna make a backup before messing with the build prop..I always go to the very last line in the very bottom of the build prop and start first inserted line underneath the very last line in your bp..make sure you mount system r/w..save changes and mount system back r/o and exit out root explorer and reboot
 
How you edit the build prop should be the same for any Android phone..the actual lines being added may or may not work depending on the phone manufacturer and all that other good stuff that makes phones a lil different

when I add one of those lines, do I have to start with a "#" sign?
 
This is so confusing.. I think I did the tweak wrong because instead of my speed going up, it went down...

EDIT: Actually its still the same speed 200-300 kbps :\

test your speeds at many different times over the next few days...you may not notice any difference right away..your speed tests will constantly be all over the place..try at a few different times of the day as well ad a few different locations..if your not satisfied with the changes...revert back to stock and move on...but be patient because changes wont always happen right away
