Root 1984kbps!!speedtest.net results after a couple of tweaks

I've done this so far without the ipv4 scripts and i''m seeing results. With one bar i''m at least 200 kbps 4-5 bars sometimes reach 1 mbps but that's as far as I've reach. Are the scripts necessary?

If you are not running CM7 and want to go back to your original PRL , all you need to do is go to phone settings and update you PRL and Profile .

If you are running CM7, which I think you are according to you info , you will either need to remember you PRL and find the same PRL file on the internet if the links here are broken OR you can restore an old copy of CTMod , change the PRL , then restore back to CM7 . The PRL is one of the few things that FLASHING does not change .

Anyone see if these speeds translate to better WIFI tethering speeds? I know there is something lost int translation to WIFI but with the phone optimization shown here then wouldnt you be able to see increases in wifi speeds as well?
 
Wifi speed is pretty much based on the access point and strength of signal . If your access point is dial up , you'll get dial up speeds . If your access point is RR turbo , you'll get turbo speeds . ;)

As for the tweaks , I don't think you'll see much difference if any when it comes to wifi . I didn't when I ran these .
 
how can i put the phone in DM or even get to the hidden menu now on GB 2.3.6 with CTMOD 3.2 and KK 2.0. all i want to do is change my PRL and i cant.

##3283# Does not work anymore with CTMOD... has this happen to anyone else?
 
Disregarding the ip4 tweaks, will all this remain intact if I go from rooted stock to ctmod?
Also will the 0.0.0.0 proxy change hold as well?
 
If you are going to ctmod 3.2 , you won't be able to tell because you can't get in to the hidden menu . I think the proxies get reset when you flash a different ROM . I do know that the PRL will stay the same though .

Thanks for your reply. I am new to cellphone stuff. Always used to messing with ipods and bigger toys like 2k computer builds and such. Unlimited data seems kind of pointless with such slow speeds. I guess it is because I am a heavy consumer of internet on desktops and used to fast wifi.
 
The unlimited data helps me out . I've tethered the phone to my laptop and downloaded over 10gigs of data one a month before. I don't normally use it that much but It's nice to know that it's there if I need it . Only a couple more payments and I'll be at $35 a month and that's REALLY nice too .:D

Your signal strength and using 3g during peak user hours will affect your speeds too . I usually get decent 3g speeds where I'm at as long as I'm running the old EJ06 modem . The FA19 modem update really killed my 3g so I reverted back to the EJ06 modem by using Odin to flash the EJ06 phone.tar .

I use fast wifi now also but like I said , it's nice to know that the unlimited data is there for download if I need it .;)

I will give you that. It really is nice to have it. I think I will use this as a "router" for my Playstation Vita if I ever need it, to avoid the ridiculous $15 for 250mb of data.

Anyway, slightly back on topic. I flashed the previous baseband along with the tweaks here. I got up to about 900ish kbps. It is about 3x better than stock, but no where near the almost 2k everyone else seems to be getting :(
 
I've managed to get mine to max out at 1.5mbp/s at one point. I only get those speeds at night though. Most other times it's between 200-500 kbp/s on average. I guess the coverage area for 3G in my small town is on crappy towers or something. I guess I won't see any benifit to the PRL changes until I go out of town to a nearby city where they likely have more cell phone towers to choose from.

Also, for any of those fiddling with the proxy settings. Don't just clear them out. Put zeros for the port and 0.0.0.0 for the IP. If you clear them out so that they say "Not Set", then apps that use streaming video like Youtube and WeatherBug will mysteriously stop working. You've been warned! :D

Prl change sort of helped me, but the service where I am at is not amazing. My phone can never seem to hold a sane connection. it keeps seizureing from 0-1 bars, to 4 or 5 bars (on rooted stock). It keeps jumping from those while on either of the basebands.
 
Thought I would post that while I am not certain that I received any benefit in pull (download) data, I have noticed a definite increase in push (upload) data with this thread implementation (from 50 to 500k on averages).

I previously utilized the 0.0.0.0 fix.

Downside: is there much reason to increase push data from a Prevail?

Was on CtMod 3.5 fa19. Tried and tried but CDMA workshop wouldn't read my phone.

The reason was because I couldn't go into DM mode to unlock it. I believe. using the scripts and every method I could try just wouldn't work. It would never give me the option to enter my MSL to unlock.

So today I decided to ODIN back to stock GB Ej06. This worked great.. although a bit of a pain. was able to dial ##....# and enter my msl. CDMA worked finally and was easy.

I switched PRL 60686 then installed ctmod3.5 again. I just tried CDMA workshop again just a minute ago now that I'm on CTmod 3.5 but on ej06 and was easily able to change PRL again to 11119. a little bit faster DL but twice as fast uploading.

So cool, at least I won't have to ODIN back if I want to change PRL again.

With Monsters method you don't have to use the MSL. You just run Script Manager then run his script and it puts it in DL mode. This makes the phone readable on a COM port so CDMA can pick it up. Then you just go through the motions of changing to a prl that you have on your computer. I just did it the other day on CM7 and it's very easy. It took me about 5 minutes to do it.
