9/30 - New Maintanence Sprint UPDATE!! DI18!!

It took two days to roll out the last one. And it's been a little over a day. It'll come. And it nevr hurts to check for updates.

For future refs, since a lot of users don't hav their location on their profile, it helps if u say where u r when gettin these|any updates...

I got mine from the xda site but I'm jus sayin in general that it should noted where u r when gettin them (especially if u don't hav ur city in ur profile)

Great Plains region of the country. :)

Battery life seems to have improved drastically since the update was applied. My phone was unplugged for 5 hours and the battery level was at 67%, even with periods of heavy use. Much better than what I had been getting in the past.

i didnt hit anything it just showed up and said do you want to update? now just checked speeds and it is 1115 down and 841 up.

It seemed like maybe I was stuck on DG17, so I took it upon myself to get all the updates. Took about 30 minutes work but I'm now running DI18 and my latest upload speed was 626, according to Speed Test.. Not amazing, but a good improvement.

Couldn't wait so I just downloaded it from xda and loaded it on both my phones.

Speedtest app shows better ul speeds but actually uploading stuff doesn't seem any faster.

i didn't get into it with him, but he did say that that epic must be on the sprint network (3g/4g) for the phone to receive notification of the OTA. once you acknowledged it, the download can then be made through wifi.

my 3g is pretty shoddy at the house so i'm chalking it up to that's the reason why i'm not getting the OTA, yet.

I never get 3g at my house and am always on WiFi. So I gotta drive to the city to be updated OTA?

search this forum for sprint airrave for those with bad to no sprint service at your home. interesting that you chose sprint, though.

anyway, back to topic, still no OTA here in mid-atlantic state.

I live in NYC but got my upgrade today while visiting Boston. Definite improvement in battery life and 3G performance, though I'm going to wait until I get off the train to perform any speed tests.

Johnnycakes, fishtaco and all food-like substances with bad reception at home: when I see post counts of 190, I tend to assume people have heard about the airrave. If not, you should definitely have one. No Sprint user with wifi need ever have bad reception.

However, my understanding of the airrave is that it's strictly VOIP. That's why I wondered about wifi's role in upgrade rollouts.

And badankles: people often choose Sprint because it's cheaper than Verizon and not as bad as AT&T. Airrave has allowed Sprint to hold onto a lot of customers like JT and FT.

So this airrave thing is kinda pricey... what's the deal? Ok last off topic post. If someone could pm me a response that would be great! thanks

you can usually finagle it free if you say you aren't happy with service at your house and that you are going to switch carriers because of that. they don't want to lose your money.

that's why i'm with sprint (for over 10 yrs), but not sure i would have selected sprint initially if my house had no service. (moved to current home)

the new airrave model (by airvana) does both voice and data, but you must first have broadband access.

dang, still no update. actually, now i'm getting connection error message. argh!!!
