I second this. I ALWAYS tether (don't get me started on how much data i use) and i have never been charged additional fees using Barnacle, PDAnet, or EasyTether.

is there any way to get 2.2 on the ally yet?
I ROOTED W/ UNI ANDROID, THEN TRIED TO INSTALL GNMTURBO4 BEFORE INSTALLING LG Ally Kernel 2.6.29.6_GNM_OC ... IN ROM PRE-INSTALL, I CHECK BACPUP EXISTING ROM AND WIPE DATA AND CACHE... MY PHONE HAS BEEN STUCK IN VELOCITY B00T LOOP SINCE. 1. WHAT DID I DO WRONG? 2. HOW CAN I FIX IT AND ADD YOUR KERNNEL??? THE PHONE IS TOTALLY UNABLE TO DOWNLOAD OR MAKE CALLS OR ANY THING!!! ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.
I rooted my LG Ally using universal androot. Then I installed gnm turbo 4 kernel into my phone using ROM Manager. Only then after did I make my first backup to the current ROM with the turbo 4 kernel...oh well...it's working fine.
I want to install VELOCITY 0.3...so I downloaded it, put the zip file into my SD card, and went back into ROM Manager, FlashClockwork Recovery > Reboot into recovery and when to choose it...but it ABORTED because the file was "bad".
So I redownloaded it...pasted it into SD card...come to find out that the first velocity zip file was only 60MB...so I pasted the full 99MB file in.
I turned off my phone...so test out the SEND+MENU+PWR to get familiar with it just incase something went wrong. It went into a blue screen with a couple words..."fastboot" being one of them...........it wouldn't do anything...I couldn't select anything...so I removed the battery to shut it offf....turned it back on it and the phone was working fine.
Went back into ROM Manager to attempt to install Velocity 0.3...but now it won't FlashClockworkMod Recovery at all!!!!!.....................I even did the 2 times quickly after it force closes and I uninstalled and reinstalled the app (my backup seems to still be there...is it really?)
I was going to follow the instructions from the YouTube video by MatthewIsBomb...
He says after placing the Velocity zip you Flash ClockworkMod Recovery, then go to Reboot into Recovery, and then "install from SD card" and then "choose file" and just reboot after it has installed the Velocity zip file...
These steps in no way lead me to any option to "WIPE DATA" and "CLEAR CACHE"...but he said that the way he did it in the video worked fine for him....
PLEASE HELP ASAP AND THANK YOUUUU IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok Skippy what you need to do is Flash Drellisdees Recovery 1.2.4
This will allow you to wipe everything manually and allow you to reflash
velocity then the OC Kernal and all that good stuff.

This will solve all your problems.
The guy who made clock work is awesome I am sure.
BUT the guy who made Aloha 1.2.4 Is AWESOMER!!!

seriously though many people have had the same problems you are having with Clockwork on the Ally. I mean use Clockwork mod to Put Aloha 1.2.4 on your Ally for cryin out loud...

Honestly Heres the easy way
1. Use Z4ROOT to root your phone
2. Download Rom Manager to your phone
3. Use Rom Manager to Flash Clock Work Mod
4. use Rom Manager to go into Recovery
5. Use Clock Work to flash Drellisdees. Update.zip clockwork to Amon-Ra Found here.

You put this zip on your SD Card and Flash it using Clock Work Mod
It couldnt be simpler. LOL

Do you have access to a PC? If so
1. Download the rom you want from whatever website.
2. In clockwork go to "Mounts & Storage" then there should be a USB option.
3. You will use that to transfer the rom you downloaded from your pc to your sdcard
4. Wipe the usual and flash and all should be good.
have been able to flash velocity 0.2 and then decided to upgrade to 0.3. when i did, i looked into flashing the turbo kernel for ally. followed the insctructions as said and now i have the choice to boot to recovery or if i let the boot go all the way through it gets stuck after the verizon logo.
when i try to flash a different rom, i hit install from sd card and everytime, no matter which rom i pick, it starts updating but says opening file, then like 2 more lines saying opening, then it stops the install....
this is the first problem i have came up with while following instcructions and am really hoping my phone is not completely screwed..if someone can lead me in the right direction to be able to flash SOMETHING it wouldl be greatly appreciated.
Edit: got aloha installed, now i having issues with installing a rom from sd. Error says E: Cant't find update script

ok, now having major issues, i have been able to load velocity 0.3 but gets stuck on boot load loop. i was thinking it may just be .3 but .2 is giving me the same problem, is there anything i can do to get it to continue the boot load?

did you remember to clear data and caches?
i have rooted phone with custom kernel (gnm turbo4) and i get kernel panic...i'm not even overclocking.
anyone recommend better kernel or stock ally kernel?
AND..if i were to factory reset while it has been rooted and with the custom kernel what would happen?
it is NOT activated. can i activate a plan using that rooted phone with my carrier?

I like my little phone, but somebody offered to trade me for an HTC eris, would this be an upgrade since it has froyo? It seems to me the processors are comparable, camera seems more capable. I just don't know enough to sling a straight across trade. Any input would be appreciated.

Forgive me if this has been tried, if not give it a whirl and try everything again. You shouldn't need to wait for the updates unless you want them to show up in phone info, so I'm guessing you shouldn't need to flash stock recovery either. I'm no pro, but that's what I'd try.

Why wont my computer download pdanet

I rooted my gfs ally with universal androot installed velocity with rom manager, then I started getting an ota update so I used clockwork to restore the original rom and after it updated it would not let me flash velocity again, it gave me an error while performing privileged tasked. So I tried to unroot with universal, failed same error. Does anyone know what I need to do?
