honestly, this is the biggest reason I won't return to CM7, the lack of hardware support that is integral to the device.
 
Well it looks like RevNumbers is going to make an "unofficial" build of CM7 for us each night based off the nightly with all the "other" fixes included. Here is the link that he has put out

Other have been flashing this and there are no issues as this build has the torch, camera, camcorder and video fixes included. He does not have a DX, but is the developer of CM7 for the D2 and D2G. So with this it looks like the remaining large issues are voice dial with bluetooth, HDMI out, no 720p recording and some issues with playback of previously recorded 720p videos.

It's been abandoned, but it's not all bad news. You can see here what was discussed https://github.com/koush/proprietary_vendor_motorola/pull/15

So, there's still hope yet. At least there are devs discussing it and working on it. Hopefully one of them will figure out the 720p issue too. :)

Yeah that's good news.

Funny how 720p was icing on the cake when the DX first came out, and now the lack of it is an "issue"

Oh how technology has spoiled us :p

We all use our phone differently and differently at times of the year. I know last year I recorded several of my sons marching band performances and then burned them on to a DVD because I was getting better sound and picture quality than camcorders. If marching season hits and the camcorder is not back to that level I may have to go back to stock (for the weekends).

Right now none of these issues are a deal breaker to me. That is what I love about this development community, there are so many options and each ROM has its benefits and drawbacks. We are just blessed to have so many great developers and now that 2nd-int has been found we are getting more and more great things.

From what I've read, 720 recording is a CM7 issue. Playback is probably a library issue (I'm tired of SBF'ing - will look at it over the weekend).

I'm sure you've guys have noticed the file format changed; Blur records in 3gp, CM7 in m4v.
 
Lol im perfectly happy with CM the way it is, 720 is nice but i didnt buy a Dx to take video, anything i would record would be fine in the lower setting.

The load of themes, wallpapers, and other developers working on CM makes me stick around, if i really needed the phone to last a full day on battery and do perfect video id flash back to GB, not like it takes a lot of effort to go back and forth.
 
So i loaded cm7 last night. Everything seems good. i loaded the nightly 35. How do i get video working though? I dont even see th ecamcorder app. The only thing i flashed extra was the gapps package.

Also, none of my videos play anymore

Flash the all in one zip to fix video playback, youtube, etc.

All In One Fix Zip for CM4DX

the camcorder is in the camera. just toggle the button to swap back and forth.
 
I had originally started a separate topic for this, but since I couldn't find out much, Ill try asking here: on CM7 Roms, what would be the best way to switch to the up to date launcher2? I found a couple in the market, but they say that they've been modified for Froyo and lack the 3d app drawer. I tried flashing a "Universal" zip for switching from CM7 ADW to Launcher2, but it bootlooped me. Anyone know of a better way? Or alternately, is there another HW Accelerated launcher out there?
 
Hello everyone I'm sorta new here well I've been trolling for a long time but anyway just wanted to say I've installed cm7 using a method I found on YouTube took me a couple days but finally got it running tits and I am loving it my first time running a custom rom and I'm just amazed by the snappyness and responsiveness of it way better with out any of that motoblur crap I didn't even use its like Motorola thinks we're all 12 yr olds registered to every social networking site there is lol

I did the zip and have the .12 radio, is there a perferance of which works better? I know in order to get the .07 I would have to sbf back to froyo and flash from there.

Ive i find i have better signal at home with froyo, but out at about i dont really notice a difference. I would recommend comparing the 2 at your home, work etc to find which works best for you.
 
Question -- I used to get the update notifications for the nightlies. But for the past few days -- it hasn't shown up. I went into CM7 setting and check the option for push notifications -- but when I clicked to register my device ID, it just says it fails. Anyone have a solution or the same issue?

( I do have RM Premium )

the integrated CM7 update notifications have never worked, go into rom manager settings and check update notifications.
 
Thanks gandalftehgrey and no I don't really have any questions I'm still trying to figure it all out there's so much customization you can do its blowing my mind lol
