What is reason for purging dalvik cache? Is it OK to delete contents via root explorer or is there a particular way it's supposed to be done? How often?

Sometimes your phone can start getting sluggish. If you clear the dalvik cache it will speed it back up. I read that somewhere. Never really tried it myself since my phone runs pretty smooth. I usually just do that after flashing a new rom.

I don't know about deleting via root explorer. I do know that the system will recreate one on next boot. I think...

Found a way to do it in Titanium Backup. Go to Menu. Scroll down to Storage. 2nd item is Clean up Dalvik cache. I picked it & got a pop-up saying I have no unneeded files in Dalvik cache.

There's also a selection to Integrate sys Dalvik into ROM. Is it a good idea? I certainly don't know ;d

It's not a good idea to clear dalvik often. The system needs it to function, and yes it does create a new one on boot. I don't recommend integrating dalvik cache into the rom, I've never done it and who knows what the effects could be? Could be good or bad...

@skinny, I'm trying to make a custom boot animation and I was just modifying your bootanimation.zip. I take the actual png, clear it out and add my own to it but it doesn't work. Could you possibly help me with this? Are my files possibly too big? Thanks.

It's probably your compression method. Unlike the rom zip which is compressed to the best possible level, the boot animation has to be compressed at "store" using WinRAR. That was my problem before. The compression method is one of the biggest problems when you're making a boot animation the first time... I was trying for months to do it... once that problem was out of the way I had to edit the desc.txt file (I think that's what the name is inside the zip). If it's done incorrectly, you'll end up with a bad boot animation again.

That was exactly the problem. I use Linux and couldn't find a program to store the data in an archive, although I am sure there is one, so I had to use my windows partition lol Thanks a lot man!

Welcome! I had to do a lot of research and testing to find that out, most guides don't tell you that you have to set it to store before pushing to your device. A little detail that makes all the difference, it should really be included in guides.

Just a FYI for i-wireless folk...

HaloBean 8's browser requires some kind of sign-in, so I don't think it'll work on i-wireless. Personally it doesn't matter to me bec I'm an Opera fan. [Aside for Opera folk.. the current beta build (11/29/13) isn't working on this rom, but the Mobile Classic version is fine & fast. Haven't tried the Mini. (The "Opera browser for Android" sez incompatible w/ our device)].

There's a lot of talk about Dolphin, so I took this opportunity to check it out. It seems more geared to social networkers, which I'm not. Not that I gave Dolphin a fair shot... Staying w/ Opera because, well, I just like it-- have used it on PC for over a decade so I'm prejudiced ;)

A sign in? That shouldn't be necessary... I'm gonna have to change the browser settings so it loads Google or a blank page instead of that other Boost sign in page. You should've been acme to just open another window and close the old one though.

I've got a nearly full 32gb in mine. Apparently our Warp will support a 64gb sdxc. But that may just be in CM10. I don't know if anyone has tried it on this ROM yet.

I have a 64 Gig card in my phone. Halo 8 doesn't like it . I went back to halo RCll. It may not have all the bells and whistles, but everything works.
I have over 25 gigs of music on this. I want to keep it that way. Like I said earlier, " if they can build it, you can trick it! "

Good to know. Typed in Google address & got there with no problem. Killed it & restarted. It opened to Google. I didn't spend much time on it before earlier post because wasn't planning to use it. :p

My first phone screenie ever :D
It's not themed or anything so elaborate... just fun
Hmmm... didn't resize very clearly-- someday I'll get that part down ;p

4G isn't in Knoxville yet. According to Sprint site it's already available in several smaller TN towns within a 100 mile radius, so it's creeping close... probably a matter of months.

4G LTE is already showing up all over Knoxville TN even though Sprint has not officially launched it there yet. Check out the maps on sensorly.com to see where people are picking up LTE. You will see that the rollout is well under way.

Fascinating site! The map shows LTE in most of the places where I spend time. Zooming in on my street, it looks like people have picked up 4G within a couple of houses from where I live. LOL-I'm sure it's not accurate quite to that degree, so I guess I won't go up the street knocking on doors :)

I see that you have a Warp, but have you used 4G around here, or maybe know people who have? If you know, is the coverage good in some of the indicated areas?

I was at Kroger today (home of i-wireless). Stopped to look at the ZTE Flash so now I know what I already knew-- it looks a lot like the Warp, maybe a little lighter & slightly streamlined (lol). Must research...

So I guess the question is back on the table... what to do, what to do? Life should always be so rough ;)

questions re Alarm ringtone:
The Alarm ringtone installed in un-rooted Warp is like an ambulance blasting through the room. Turning it down helps a little, but now there are so many Amber alerts that I turned Alarm vol off unless there's a tornado warning in the area. (Nothing against Amber alerts, but when the alarm sounds, the cats dive under the bed leaving tread marks down my legs if they were sitting on me. I myself jump out of my skin.)

Anyway, does HB 8 use a different Alarm ringtone? Is there a way we can access it & change it to something alarm-like but less intense (heh... less alarming) than the original?

HaloBean comes with the ringtones in Cyanogenmod 10 which is jelly bean, so there are different alarm ringtones than in gingerbread
You should be able to change it through the HaloBean settings menu like in stock :)

Uhh since ive had my warp and rooted it i no longer get ambur alerts or weather warnings anymore although i do not remember how i made them stop ill get back after some reserch

After that tether problem I went to warp oem to give it another try and nothing but freezes and reboots. Went back to halobean 7 and its such a relief.. good work my friend :)

I know how to change Phone ringtone & Notifications, but never could find a way to change Alarm ringtone :(

To be sure we are on the same page: not the alarm clock Alarm... I mean the alarm that happens through the text app when there's a tornado warning or Amber Alert

EDIT:
It's not that important--just annoying

Ah that alarm... I've never gotten amber alerts on my phone but thats because after I got it in the mail I just turned it on and started rooting. I have NO idea what stock feels like unless its on my moms Warp. I don't think that alert sound can be changed though...? At least, I was never able to try since I only ran stock for about 2 minutes before rooting and flashing :(

Thanks...well now I know.

How have you kept your hands off of it? Root it for Christmas while she's napping... Tell her Santa did it ;)

Nah, because then she gets boost updates before me, and I can download and check the updates too. I've done it before, when someone got an update from boost on my rom... it was just a bad build.prop file. I checked for the update on my mom's stock warp and that's how I was able to check if it was the rom or not :) one stock phone does wonders sometimes

I think I'm going to make an 8.5 to fix issues such as Wifi tethering not working, and with enhancements for wifi and the powernap script... neither v1 nor powernap v2, more like a HaloNap (its actually called SleepyHaloz in the rom)
