The zte warp (n860) that I had before I rooted had no service on it and I don't think that it was ever updated. (not looking to put service on it anytime soon) I've looked endlessly for ways to update it manually and stop all the problems I was having with it but to no avail.

s/n: You think maybe because rooted into TWRP is the reason why I'm still having the dame problems? If so how do I get into CWM?

No, the recovery has nothing to do with it. That leaves the kernel and the rom, and other roms use the same kernel. So its either the rom or user errors after that, and since this is the rooms first day or two on your phone it still hasn't settled in. When exactly do you have these issues? When playing candy crush?

Give it a day or two to settle in, the rom has to rebuild parts of the system on its own. Reboot it a few times and it'll greatly reduce it the first day. I usually only reboot once every 90 hours. It's like a new computer in a way; some things have to get set up, and you gotta reboot it a couple of times for things to finish setting up.

Interesting... I didn't realize the process takes time... assumed everything happens in a flash (so to speak) after first reboot. What is going on over time as it rebuilds part of the system? Is it building on itself stepwise?

In deodexed roms, the rom has to rebuild the dalvik cache. Flash a deodexed rom and time it. Then run it for a few weeks and then wipe cache and dalvik cache in recovery. Assuming both time the phone isn't loaded up with apps, the times will be about the same.

The phone can't function properly without it. It NEEDS the cache/ dalvik cache to be able to function properly. The rom builds the new dalvik cache as its booting up for the first time. This isn't necessary with odexed roms because the .odex file contains information to be written to the dalvik vm as its booting up the first time, so it knows what to expect, and thus, the first boot is faster on odexed roms than deodexed ones. All subsequent ones, however, are the same. After building the caches the rom settles in and thats why some people have noticed really bad battery drain, lag, and freezes right after first boot with most roms (Even with WOEM, but it was only 1 freeze up and a bit of battery drain)

so getting a lag fix and trying to up the entropy and do some tweaks on it using rom toolbox to make it run faster was a bad idea? I also just download a bunch of apps and added them to the main screen so that could be a problem too... I could be wrong lol

Oh and its all of my game apps and even kik, instagram and the browser are slowing down and stuff. Here are the games that I have downloaded so far... Angry gran, diamond rush, free run, vector, sub surf, minion rush, tatap tap revenge 4, temple run 2 and various other games. On all these games there is a bunch of lag and I have downloaded firefox and that seems very bad too. :(

Should I remove them for now and wait for the phone to settle in and remove all the tweaks that I have done even on voltage control and wait or what?

BTW you are freaking awesome for all the support you give me. first guy I've met who gives me honest to god good tech support :D:D:D

Kik and instgram will be your two biggest culprits. Temple run 2 as well, I've tried it and its a huge P.O.S. for our phone. Overheating, freezing up, all that app does...

The entropy tweaks on this rom will do more harm than good, because... well this article explains that part really thoroughly. Entropy Seed Generator Not All It’s Hacked Up to Be – xda-developers

The rom toolbox tweaks will also mess with the values already in the device, causing confusion in the system. You have your rom toolbox values saying do this, and the rom values saying no do that. You'll get freeze ups that way. I will say this rom is not perfect and that modifying some of the values may greatly improve it, but it has to be done at the system level. On top of that, modifying anything (I mean ANYTHING--EVEN IF I'M ADDING IN PRETTY PICTURES TO MAKE IT LOOK NICE THINGS SOMETIMES BREAK) can cause things to conflict and break, so be careful if you go that route. Even ROM Toolbox can mess up the rom. I know, because I tried and pushed it to the limit.

Lastly, adding apps to the main screen won't do anything. Its just a new icon on the launcher. Adding more apps DOES mean you have to wait a bit more for the phone to warm up. I timed it in an adb logcat, and after loading the rom down with about 42 apps, all contacts and data loaded, the phone took about 33,000 milliseconds (from the HaloBean ROM loading screen to after the phone came on) to load all packages and fully warm up. It also increased my boot times significantly. This will happen on any rom, and I can say this because I've gone through and flashed almost all of the roms on here that came out after I got my Warp two Octobers ago. Some things will persist based on the apps you have loaded on them, but others may have to do with the modifications included in the roms.

SO I'm just going to remove all of my tweaks that I with rom toolbox and return the entropy back to normal and just wait for the phone to settle in but what should I do about kik and insta cause I use both apps heavily and I would hate to have to remove them just because of lag and freeze ups. Which brings me back to my question on if I should keep firefox or just use the browser you put in the rom?

I also followed on what aimzzz the junior member up there showed me and flashed this zip-- http://androidforums.com/boost-mobi...-ii-full-install-1-23-2013-a.html#post4511374
...bad idea? If so How do I go about removing it?

That's a totally different rom, so I can't say for certain. I haven't used that one since its second to last update, but I do know it doesn't have some of the tweaks included in the newer roms that we have now, like the gpu tweaks which are what boost performance greatly now. To remove it you simply have to only flash another rom however.

That lag fix is for that rom specifically, not a good idea to mix things like that up... if you're unsure of something, don't be afraid to ask about it! Don't just go ahead and flash things if you are unsure because phones aren't cheap and asking before installing something is a lot better than an $80 brick or paperweight, dont you think? ;)

Anyways yeah that lag fix is for another rom and the two have totally different set ups.

i cant remove it? :(
How do I go about making changes at a system level though?

I would recommend starting over with wipe data, cache, dalvik... reflash halo bean 9... wipe cache and dalvik again. Reboot and use the phone for a day then reboot again... add apps one at a time so you can see if one particular app causes issues... stay away from rom toolbox and other tweaks. Halo bean is already tweaked and other tweaks will cause conflicts on a system level.

Problem came up today... when I woke up my phone was charging over night and it just froze on the screen and I had to perform a battery pull .. this is not the only time this has happened and I've had to perform a battery pull it freezes like that when I'm on the web or playing game :/

I probably should have left out my 2 cents worth on rooting.

In general, when trying something new on phones or PC's, it's best to make only one change at a time. With more, troubleshooting can become difficult to impossible because it's hard to determine which change (or combination of changes) caused the problem... too many variables in the equation.

Chances are you have a conflicting app. That's why I always suggest only adding one app at a time to ensure compatibility.

Found out that it was Kik and instagram that were the two culprits but the phone still lags a bit when playing games but no matter ill deal...
The battery though it isn't last long at all 3-4 hours at the latest with full charge.. what could cause that?

What is the best voltage settings that have been proven to get the most battery out of this rom and device?
I have no idea which settings are the best seeing as how this is my first time with voltage control lol
Help much appreciated thanks:D:D:cool::rolleyes::thumbup::o:):p:p

Here I go again... o_O

If you look back at Skinny's posts over the last 3 pages or so, you'll see that improving battery life has been one of his primary goals in updating his roms. He comments on it several times. Most likely the Halo roms are right at the best battery life possible for each

Since I'm a noob, I may be misunderstanding & you're talking about some other battery parameter. Either way, I'd say it's a bad idea to mess with it-- you'd be courting disaster!
At least wait to see what SJ has to say about it first

;)
