Here I go again... o_O

If you look back at Skinny's posts over the last 3 pages or so, you'll see that improving battery life has been one of his primary goals in updating his roms. He comments on it several times. Most likely the Halo roms are right at the best battery life possible for each

Since I'm a noob, I may be misunderstanding & you're talking about some other battery parameter. Either way, I'd say it's a bad idea to mess with it-- you'd be courting disaster!
At least wait to see what SJ has to say about it first

;)

Will do! Thanks man.. come on SJ!!

I'm back from the dead.. sorry I've been sick, doing stuff with Team Osiris, doing my own schoolwork too... not feeling well.

Anyways, about your battery issue, its more than likely the games. I have a GBA emulator on my phone that runs down my battery in a matter of hours. I also play Sector Strike and it will drain my phone fast as well. The battery tweaks mostly save battery when the phone is idle, but I have also included some tweaks to files around the rom to help with battery consumption when on Wi-Fi. This is included on both roms, however SkinnyHALO will still have better battery life due to the extreme lightness of the rom. HaloBean is extensively themed and is meant to bring a Jelly bean expirience to the user; not so much other things, though I've made stability and usability a huge goal. Aside from this, aimzzz got the rest pretty much down :)

On another note, I'm most likely going to release this update even with tethering not working as I've done everything I can to try and fix it, but to no avail. If anyone wants to try and fix it please be my guest and if you can fix it, I'll add it to the rom and give you credit in my special thanks and changelog sections. I can't do much more, so the rom is almost finalized :)

Whats the one where youre at 96% on battery Skinny? Also which one shows the 4g lte icon. I dont have my phone yet but i bought a used for 25.00 and ive already downloaded Rom 8 and 9. Are these both OC`d. Looks awesome i cant wait to flash this

Skinny halo is the one at 96. Halo bean has 4g icon. Both use alien kernel and are capable of oc.

All roms on this forum that aren't discontinued (Warp OEM, HaloBean, DroidSmith, and now SkinnyHalo) have overclock to 1.8 GHz.

The one with the outstanding battery life is SkinnyHalo, because its so lightweight. On top of that, I've modified things around the rom that are in HaloBean 9's latest Release Candidate (which will soon be made final, somewhat...) to reduce power consumption even more and greatly increase the battery life.

However, the heavily themed version (HaloBean) is the one which shows the 4G LTE icon. I may or may not include it in SkinnyHalo, and if I do I'll make it easily removable. After extremely heavy testing though. I should mention, SkinnyHalo is going through everything I throw at it with flying colors! :D

Now it all comes down to choice. The Warp has a weird issue with anything Wi-Fi related, such that tethering broke from simply theming the rom. All my other changes didn't do anything to break wifi, except for the minimized power consumption which surprisingly didn't break it. This is the case with HaloBean ROM, specifically 9. This one doesn't have as much power saving capacity or raw speed like SkinnyHalo does, because its meant to provide a Jelly Bean experience for users while still maintaining speed and all. Its not easy knowing how easily things break. The only problems I've noticed in the latest release are with tethering. I suggest it if you are a light to medium user (as in, not too heavy gaming).

Next there is SkinnyHalo. I suggest this rom if you don't care so much for theming. This one is lightweight, slim, fast, and is all about power and functionality for all users. I've gone through and updated, fixed, and changed a few things from Halo ROM, which BLVCKHVLO gave me to continue; HaloBean is heavily based on the original Halo, so you'll note some similarities at the code level if you're ever to take the roms apart. This has a minimalist theme, but no 4G LTE icon.

Before you flash one of the roms, I suggest you review both carefully to make sure you pick the right one for the phone :) if you're really going for a JB styled rom, go for HaloBean. If you are a power user, or you don't use your phone for much, go for SkinnyHalo.

STATUS UPDATE FOR EVERYONE: HaloBean 9, after settling in after a few days, is running great batterywise. Heavy texting, phone calls for a few hours a day, wifi on all day, and other stuff; no charger for 14 hours, and im at 51% :D I still don't know about tethering on Halo however.

So youre saying 9 is the way to go? Also is there a zip theme for 4g lte or can it be incorperated in 9? This all sounds amazing since this phone is really only 5 hrs talk time battery.

I'm saying make your choice carefully :) look for the one with the features you want, and go with that one.

There isn't one, because its already in 9. All versions of HaloBean have the icon. SkinnyHalo is the one that does not.

:o Embarrassed to ask... here's a DOH-type question:

I'm on i-wireless carrier, but HaloBean 8 worked great on my Warp. Then I got new phone, now rooted...

Would I brick my ZTE Flash N9500 if I tried SkinnyHalo? I'm sure you can't say for sure, but which educated guess would you make:
- DOH! forget about it
- of course you'd brick
- most likely brick
- probably brick
- maybe brick
- could brick.. worth a try :/

What can I say...

want want want
:o :o :o

fear fear fear
o_O

Most likely brick; the hardware is not the same, the partitions may not be set up the same either so you'd at the very least lost all radio data

went to go ahead and flash the skinny halo version but I couldn't connect to the wifi in my house? It just keeps saying authenticating and then says disconnected and repeats that over and over again. I checked everything i retyped in the wifi password rebooted the phone disconnected wifi and reconnected then again... What seems to be the problem here?

Reboot phone if that dont fix it reboot to bootloader clear cache and dalvik cache if that dont wrk well try a reflash

I know for a fact SkinnyHalo has fully functional wifi (still not sure about tether) because I have SkinnyHalo running all the time on my dev unit. If you downloaded the rom via mobile data, then there's your issue. You'll have to go back and download via wifi.

I backed up my previous data from the halo bean 9 and that seemed to fix it how it did I have no clue

if this helps anyone, i have a nandroid of halobean 6. Everthing is working including usb and wi-fi tether. Mms as well, plus i believe the dpi settings is still in it. Not as heavily themed as the later versions but this version has everything working in it.

Thank you so very very very very very much this is exactly what i think i may need!! :D

After going through it... I think it has something to do with some Sprint apks (3 specific ones) that might have to do with mobile data, which is why the rom SEEMED to work fine without them, when they were removed in HB 6.2. This is gonna take longer than I thought... but at least I know that since everything worked in 6, 6.2 is the breaking point of the rom.

I have an issue on halobean 8 final. My 2 gmails accounts never auto synch although they are set to do so. I have not had a problem with this until this version. Any help greatly appreciated.
