Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] n00b (B10 based) VIII.II FULL Install 1/23/2013

Downloaded via PC. Weird. Not sure where to go from here. I guess it doesn't matter how I flash it if I'm using the wrong rom lol. If you click on the original post's link and begin to download does it say you're downloading a 101mb file or 106mb?

Edit: One thing that's odd is now that I've flashed the B08c rom and then tried to flash the n00b rom a few times, the grey boot screen for the n00b rom still displays during stock boot before the stock green android alien guy displays.

Sounds exactly like the behavior of a corrupt download to me. Sort of working sort of not totally messed up. Yep. Re-download and verify checksum.

@Lilbit
Are you getting the same checksums as me that I posted above?

I just re-downloaded the rom again to a different folder and have the same thing as before,
106.0 MB (105,968,975 bytes) I dont understand what's happening. As far as the grey android boot logo showing up before the green one, thats kinda normal, it's leftover from the previous flash.

I would do a factory data reset, re flash the rom and clear both caches.make sure the file says noobVIII.II.zip if the name of the file is different in any way it wont flash properly.

Scroll up to post #1960 and read it, strange thing, same as you almost.

Well I did a factory reset and tried out CTMod and it worked. I still get a 101mb n00b file whether I download from PC or my phone. The grey android boot logo still shows up first during boot-up. It's not hurting anything, but it's kind of annoying me since I know it shouldn't be there. I guess I'll try to download again here and there to see if I magically get this 106mb version.

My download from Mr.Bobo's drop box said 101 on my laptop screen, however, after it was DL, I had a file of 106. And CTMod was the rom that saved my phone a couple of times also. I ran that rom more than once, as a matter of fact I was running CTMod noobed when this B10 update crap started. What I finally did was to completely reset the phone sd card and everything, and start over fresh. :D I dont run a lot of apps, so it wasn't that big of a deal for me to re-download them from the play store, I stopped using Titanium Backup to restore apps some time ago because of issues with apps, data, etc.:D

This newest version of noob is the best thing we have going for the phone right now, completely updated with the B10 base from ZTE and everything, I hope you get it running, you wont regret it. I also have i2f's theme with the animations intact.:D

I believe it is the only theme that works properly. :D

Should I let the ZTE software update fully from my B08C stock rom before flashing n00b's? I didn't think it mattered, but I'm still pretty new to this. I'll try formatting the sd card too. Thanks.

I believe the recent update is already included in the rom. You should be fine without it. Since you are flashing over it anyways I don't think it is going to matter.

So I flashed this yesterday and installed the i2f theme and gotta say that this is by far the best version of n00b yet. I'll even give as far as saying it's the best ROM EVER for the Warp. I'm afraid to reboot because I don't want the sheer speed to go anywhere haha

Yep and cant wait for his next release............;)

To install any ROM's, I first run a Superwipe by Dizzle1 (LOVE IT!) and I haven't had a single problem with using TB since. I'm so persistent in getting TB working well because I usually have 200+ apps at any given time and it's takes FOREVER getting each one by one from the Play Store. I went from the AlienKernel in CTMod 3.75 to Glitch Kernel in this ROM and, before, I used to run into issues but haven't anymore.

I love Superwipe!!!! What we really need though is for someone to create a simple guide to creating a flashable zip. That way you could zip up all your current apps, wipe with superwipe, install new ROM, test, and finally install apps from CWM/TWRP with your flashable zip of apps.

MrBobo actually had a how-to for creating zips in a thread I saw once. I don't remember which one though. I imagine it's pretty easy and quick

Best Rom out there to date

@MrBobo, just a friendly note to ya that I checked the All Things Root Guide and it's still showing n00b V on the ROM list.

That guide needs updated with a lot of the current info!! Anybody want to add to it?:D

If so just send your updates to the thread author, it will gladly be added if it's good info.

Not sure if you already know this but the pro version of titanium backup can do this quickly and simply from your phone.

Edit: That being said I am also interested in learning more about how all this stuff is put together.

Okay so a quick update on my previous feature requests:

Volume issue - nevermind it. I have come to the conclusion that this was probably just me fooling myself into thinking it was at one time different. Plus there may be some dangers there.

Crt on off request - I am still interested in this very much. I tried to do it myself but wound up in a boot loop.

Pdroid patch - I have come to the conclusion based on the references in the patches that these are kernel source patches. So since glitch kernel I think is done being developed based on what I read in that forum thread I guess I need to ask the alien kernel dev and see what he thinks. Is there any chance noob will eventually move to alien kernel?

You can flash the alien kernel right now if you want it.:)

Oh. Hmm. So, all it flashes is the boot.img right? Meaning it won't affect the operating system? So, I can grab the alien kernel and the flash kernel and flip back and forth no problem? So, in order to patch just do a git pull, compile, patch and then create a zip based on the skeleton of the other zips? I have been reading a little about signing zips. Does that matter in this case?

Grab the kernel from DM's thread and flash it!! RCJosie already has!!
Flip back and forth or whatever you want. Its already signed and ready to flash.

I've always switched back and forth between kernels without issue. I haven't put the AlienKernel with this rom though because MrBobo created it specifically against the strengths and weaknesses of the glitch kernel. I am interested in how AlienKernel works with this though! Please share results if you do. :D
