Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] Warp OEM 2.70

Who's skinny? He sounds like an awesome guy! :D

mmm why couldn't it just be ported from another rom? Isn't he talking about just changing the order of the widgets? Its in most of the roms here...

Yeah, that's what he wants, just the ability to change the order, even noob had/has it:)

I think it just needs to be added to Settings.apk then? I mean I figure the regular functions are there, it just needs some place to be launched from...

Apparently how to spell isn't one of them... *sigh*

So I was using root dim to turn off button back light and it worked at first but then the green notification light would not shut off unless I turned it off. It was on system default and I didn't have any notifications so it couldn't be that. Any one know how to fix this?

Edit:Not only this from I had this problem on CTMOD as well.

Awesome rom, but for some reason in having lock ups like crazy. Didn't have this problem on noob rom, I'm thinking it's the alien kernel, any suggestions?

Same problem on both Roms with root dim? Could be the app, they just did an upgrade recently.;)

Lock ups on THIS rom??? Impossibruu... what are your governor settings?

Check your Gov. settings for sure, the best setup is SmartassV2/sio. :)
And also check your apps, see what all is running in the background. :)
I have been running this rom for well over a month now without a single hiccup.;)

Ok, Thanks, works great.

A few questions, though:
The main reason I did this, is I'm so tired of all the bloatware running all the time.
My phone. My memory. My CPU.

Yes I've read the little faq about android memory management & how task killers are bad. This is terrible programming practice & programmers that perpetuate it should find a new line of work.
512Megs of ram and constantly below 80 free, with only 1 non-oem app installed. Grumble, grumble...! Incoming phone calls sometimes crash my "phone" &^%$#^)(&!!!

So I was glad to see something that removed a lot of the bloatware.
Except it missed some.
Using 2.51 (and AdrenoBooster v0.7)
Main page sez:
Deleted:
-Google Play Books (BooksPhone.apk)
-Google Play Magazines (Magazines.apk)
-Google Play Music (Music2.apk along with its predecessor, Music.apk)
-Google Play Store (vending.apk – deleted in favor of the more recent Phonesky.apk)
-Google Plus (PlusOne.apk)
-Google Talk (replaced by Hangouts)

They're all still on my phone...
Music is especially troublesome, as it starts playing all by itself after some system alarms, and seems to like the doom theme music...

So I tried getting rid of them by "uninstall updates" & "disable automatic updates" Hope that'll work? Any futher suggestions are quite welcome.

Boat browser seems to support youtube vids without the youtube app, so got rid of that pig & firefox, too.

Gmail app AND an email app always running. I want them both dead. I never use either from the phone. Any Ideas?

Google maps: I occasionally use this(2-5 times / month), so want to keep it. But any way to keep it from running all the time? Or a non-autorun/push alternative?

Facebook: Yes I use facebook(boo, hiss, etc). Its app was the WORST. replaced it with Atrium. Seems a lot better behaved.

Adrenoboost, I installed the one from their page. Would I benefit from reflashing with 2.53? Is the included adrenoboost more specific to the warp?

Thanks!

Welcome to WOEM o4! I believe the Google play/music/books etc. Was left on for purposes of functionality. Some people want it. If you want to get rid of apps you don't like, might I suggest chef's freezer? It gives you the option to delete and to freeze apps, to prevent them from running. As for the tweaks, I could be mistaken, but I believe they are the same tweaks, just the ones in this thread have been designed to be flashable for easier installation..Merc?.. everyone here hated that bloatware, so welcome to the club xD

I agree with lilbit, check your governor settings. Perhaps it's running at a low frequency? If that's not the case, perhaps some hiccup happened in the flashing process, in which case wipe the cache and dalvik cache twice, as well as factory reset, then reflash. I see suggestions inclining towards the use of superwipe, a tool which I have never used, but is apparently really good. Good luck! I've not had a problem with this rom out of the dozens of times I've switched to it, except when I flashed to it from noob and it soft bricked. I just reinstalled and it was fine.

I just timed the start up of this rom. From completely shut off to the point where you can use your phone is something around 30 seconds. That's almost as fast as a S4 which starts up at 24 seconds. This from truly is the best fit for this device.

The super wipe tool is in the ATRG sticky.:) For those who want to use it,:D I have it and use it all the time in between Roms. ;) Just flash it as you would any other zip.:p Works really well. Once is all you need. :thumb:

Thanx for the replies using sio/smartass v2 250/1400 used super wipe tool, just changed to glitch kernal seems fine for now. Well check back after a day. It'd I install quick panel strings apk from noob rom do you think it will work?

Thanks, glad you enjoy it! So far as lockups, I do recommend always completely wiping your phone (known as "factory reset" in TWRP) to ensure no interference from a previous installation. Some of the things I did in this ROM involve cutting rather deeply into the system, and if you have any Ghosts of ROM Install Past floating around, there's almost guaranteed to be problems. In fact, during beta testing we found that to be almost the only way to mess up this ROM! :D

First off, welcome to Android Forums, o4tuna! And to my ROM in particular. I'm glad it's found its spot with those folks who resent the hardware they spent good money on being misused and diverted to serve someone else's goals. I bought the phone, so I expect to have it entirely under my control.

So far as all that software still included... I'm at a loss. They're not in my ROM (with the exception of Talk, which wasn't removed until version 2.53) so I can only guess something I did leave in the ROM must be pushing them back on... I just loaded up 2.51 on my dev unit and they're not there, but maybe some folks who use the ROM day in and out can shed extra light on this.

The Adreno Tweaks started off one and the same as those posted at XDA, but Dizzle1 came along and determined which ones worked best on the Warp, making this finished product happen much faster than me hacking away at it in my free time. In short, yes, they're basically the same but tuned for this specific device.

And an additional note on bloatware and unwanted apps... in the next version I'm planning on packporting a little Alliance technology into Warp OEM and making most apps load into /data instead of /system. What that means to the users is that almost everything will be deletable through conventional means - no more having to go behind Android's back!

Wow, I never looked at it that way. Thanks! :D

Just used chef's freezer and froze the Flashlight and Gmail apps after installing the flashlight in alliance rom, and my woemed warp is noticeably faster. :D
