Root CyanogenMod 10 Pre-alpha (985hPaKicK kang)

let me start by saying i have permission to post this modified mirror.
so anyway i've been working on this for my own personal use but since i got permission i decided to post it. basically i took hk's cm10 beta 4 rom and
1:incorporated 4gfix
2:added inverted mms
3:edited build.prop to include echo fix
4:updated the recovery.tar to 6.0.2.7

i'm sure theres still some issues with this, thats where you guys come in. i need some guys that are bored or have nothing else to do to test this for me and give feedback. your backup may not be compatible with this recovery. but there are some apps that do nand restore from whithin android, maybe one of those will do the trick. i changed the recovery because this one allows you to mount usb from within recovery which gives me access to external sd from linux without installing anything or any command line bs. and i couldnt get mtp to work on cm10 anyway. and my backups will be compatible when cm10.1 becomes viable. so without further ado.

EDIT:revised edition. my first attempt had voice issues. *228 voice commands couldn't understand a word i said. i think i got them fixed in this new link

the reason i'm working on this rom is because the backlight doesn't stay on and call volume is much louder.

BTW: just because i have permission to post this modified mirror, that doesn't mean everybody does.

:smokingsomb:i also did the same thing to the aokp alpha i'm testing it now:D
edit: i dialed *228 on aokp and was able to update prl with voice command. and the automated system didn't say it didn't understand me. since i don't have service that's the best voice call test i can do at the moment.
worked with bluetooth also.

if you want the old recovery. you can take the recovery.tar from any other cm10.0 rom and overwrite it in /system/xbin

Is this the same modified Cm10 from yesterday that was getting PMd around?

someone sent me a pm saying they downloaded it and it wouldn't install. something about invalid parameters. i just downloaded it and install it myself and it works fine. the phone app crashed on me first boot but second boot was fine.
edit:call volume is awesome. and i'm old and half deaf from too much pantera.

Did you get permission from hk to repost??
 
Can someone that is using this ROM please try and text their own number to see if it still sends blank messages with the new MMS.apk? I just want to make sure it works before I try it
 
Yeah, your mms.apk

So I just went and tried it and text messages show as sent but they never go through. I tried an mms to my email it worked but regular messages just don't. I'd like to use this but I rely on texting to much.

was that on first boot? because i also had issues first boot after flash with the phone app crashing but second boot it was fine.
also i believe "text plus" will send and recieve metropcs texts but through it's app. that might be a viable alternative. theres a couple others i can't think of the names at the moment that handle native text but through their apps.
 
i gotta get my service turned back on. that would make it much easier for me to troubleshoot, modify and test. i'm gonna try to do that soon.
