Root CyanogenMod 7 Unofficial Beta 5 02/20/12

Is tethering over USB supposed to work with this installed? I connected the phone to the computer and enabled it, but my computer does not detect a new network connection.

You need an app. I use Klink from the market when I choose to tether it with a cable. Wireless Tether for Root Users it the other app I use when wifi tethering. ;)

There are free apps out there for cable tethering but I'm not familiar with them. I've used Klink from day 1.

I started to look at apps, but besides needing to pay, I'm not sure how well they would support my Linux PC, and I feel they're probably less efficient than tethering directly if that's possible. Of course, paid or inefficient tethering is still better than no tethering, but I just want to check whether the device supports it directly at all with the mod. One of the first posts does say "WiFi hot spot does not work", but I don't know if that's supposed to mean USB tethering as well.

I use Easytether for USB connection. The full version is $10 but it's worth it

Yeah, I don't run Linux so I wouldn't know which direction to point you in as to what app would work best for you.

in CM7 in general, there is an apk built for wireless hotspot. hroark couldnt get that to work for our prevails so we have to use one from the market. mine works just fine (laptop and SGTab 10.1 wifi )

I run ubuntu almost exclusively.. if you have a wireless card in your laptop then I would use open garden. It will work just fine. I never used a usb teather app but I'm am certain it will work better in linux than windows unless you have hardware in your laptop that is not supported by ubuntu but that is highly unlikely..

P.S. if you need some help, I'm pretty well versed in linux (not bragging), just PM me. we'll get you through it.
 
Well this blows im stuck in a boot loop it just starts and says android and crashes

Just Odin it back to stock. you should be able to put back ej06 then install Cm7 again.

To get your accounts to sync make sure you setup a google account on the Settings -> Accounts menu. If you still can't find it then just launch the market app also known as Google Play. It should tell you to setup an account and that's practically the same thing.

The key is to get that account under Settings -> Accounts working properly. Once you do that it will sync everything from your previous android stuff. This includes contacts, calendars, and other stuff. Under CM7 Settings -> Privacy will give you 2 backup options that I usually check. 'Back up my data' and 'Automatic Restore'. Supposedly these things work if you have your google account sync working.

Other then that you really shouldn't have a problem using Odin to go to EJ06 then installing CM7. Remember you need to install the MapFix located also on the first thread. If your NOT using data on your SD card (means you need a parition) then download and install the one called MapFix-no-ext.

If you want some missing and or extra stuff with CM7 you can use my custom script as well.

Just put on CM7 B5. Wonderful Job on this!

My first rom was ct3.5 and I crashed it messing with overclocking today. Had to Odin so I decided to try out a new rom.

This is handling apps and memory better in my case.

Though I'm seeing slower 3g speed compared to ct3.5. Is that because of the tweaks that Blood put together on his rom?

or just my imagination and time of day?

Do you guys run those turbo3g (or v6supercharger) scripts or do you leave well enough alone?
 
alot of our roms come out with ram opts and 3g tweaks..so deffinetly beware of adding additional scripts..blood has mastered the art of script making..not sure that the actual rom has anything to do with 3g speeds though..keep in mind it is boost and atleast my speeds have never been really impressive
 
Well i guess the final isue is google talk authintication failed idk why it says thet but a cant call or download anything :( idk i why im getting so many errors

go into manage applications and clear data on anything google related

Did you read my post above? Did that work for you? When your having issues and trying to find an answer. You need to be as descriptive as possible. What you tried what didn't work. Step by step so we can better help. Just flat out saying its not working doesn't tell us much. We need details details details.

Was reading a comment section on evo 4g coming to boost and found this interesting. A guy who works for Boost retailer posted this. Internet comments, so take with a grain of salt. :)

"All I know is we are getting 4G, representatives have confirmed that the recent 3g issues the past month or so is due to towers being upgraded to 4g or so they say. I dont know anything about unlimited 4g."
 
Just found an app on market called network signal booster
Took me from minus 101 dbm down to minus 76 bbm
But It fluctuates depending on where I'm at

Going to settings then cya genmod and look for phone notification settings

You should be getting notifications of missed calls if its a fresh install. I've never had a problem with it as its a built in feature of the rom itself. The option that was mentioned by Ren is only used for those phones that have LED lights, which of course ours doesn't. So enabling that option in call settings wont do anything. If your not getting notifications it could be a faulty install of the rom or you have an app that is conflicting or overriding the notifications.

Check your call log if missed calls are being recorded.

hi every body and THANK YOU ALL + ''HROARK13'' for this wonderfull rom, i was wondering if anyone can tell me if this rom would work with ZTE-N762 ?, its almost the same level as prevail and its been already rooted and CWR 5.0.2.0 on it.

No, it is device specific. You will rarely (if ever) find a ROM compatible across multiple devices...
