Root CyanogenMod 7 Unofficial Beta 5 02/20/12

you mean it doesn't show up when you press and hold the (home) screen and then select widget? if so, what app are you trying to use to make them? i have no issues with creating widgets... perhaps you need to reflash the rom

Yea that's what's happening, it happens on any widget I instal, minimalistic text, a sticky note widget, a sense clock widget... I tried reflashing and it still does it

Hmmmm... You got me, widgets work fine for me. Are you using a custom launcher? (other than what comes with cm7)

Also, probably a dumb question, but when you reflashed the ROM, you installed your apps from scratch right? (no advanced restore/titanium backup restore)

Using the launcher that comes with it, and installed apps from scratch. Flashed this on my girlfriends phone and have the same problem so it must be something I'm doing (or not doing) I followed all the instructions word for word though

it might be the stock launcher that is the problem (i immediately install adw on virtually every room i use)
I even went so far as to add it to the cm7 zip so when i reflash, it's already there... Been so long i had forgotten that it comes stock with zeam... Lol. You could try using adw and see if it allows your widgets

I've been running the CM7 beta5 for a few months now and have been getting excellent performance, awesome work hroark.

However, I have a question. It seems like this rom has overclocking settings built-in, but when I go to Settings>CyanogenMod settings>Performance>CPU settings and try to adjust the min and max speed, it....won't let me.

When I click on either min or max cpu frequency, an empty dialog box shows up that I can only assume is supposed to be a slider that'll let me set the speed, but literally nothing is in the box.

Is that supposed to happen, or am I missing something?

Flash katokernel... It can be clocked up to 946

It's in the KATOKERNEL thread lol

Edit-you will probably still need an app to change the frequencies (maybe not) voltage control and An Tu Tu CPU Master seem to be the popular two here

Heh, forgot to get back to you on this.

Thanks for the KatoKernal link. Flashed it to my phone....and I still can't set my min/max cpu speed in CyanogenMod Settings>Performance>CPU Settings. I do, however, have a boatload of new CPU governors.

I was looking for the Intellidemand governor, since that would scale CPU use depending on how much the GPU gets used (i.e., only go to full power if GPU is being pushed to max). Sadly, I don't have that in my list of governors.

I was really hoping to be able to set this stuff natively using the CPU settings menu instead of a 3rd party app, but if that's what it takes....

On a side note, I also encountered a lot of odd lag the past day or so since flashing the new kernal. After 2 days of messing with random lag it occured to me that I forgot to wipe both the cache and the Dalvik after flashing. *Insert Facepalm here*
Wiped both and the lag seems to be cleared up, for now anyway.

how do i install the removed apps? ive tried multiple things on my own without asking for help but none seem to work, so i need words of wisdom

Hello Hroark13,
I got the CM7 B5 running on my prevail, but I am unable to get themes to work. I ended up installing rom toolbox and it reads that I don't have Tmobile theme chooser so it installs but doesn't implement it. Theme chooser themes just lets me download themes and when I long press the top icon my phone just vibrates. I can do boot animations and such, but no themes. Would you have an idea why it doesn't work. I found a Theme chooser.apk and installed it, and no joy there either. Let me know if you need more info.

PS: Disabling the screen lock on this phone results in a frozen home screen with no way to unlock it, not even a hard reset. Been there done that had to start from scratch (painful lol).

In order to use the CM7 themes from the market you will need a combination of files. Keep in mind that our phone is MDPI so those are the type themes you will need. I went ahead and put them together sometime back for others to use. This zip installs in CWM. If you want themes here's what you need.

Heh. I had to deal with this issue almost a month ago. Not knowing about blooddawn's apkinstaller I ended up merging the contents of cm-7-HROARK-beta5.zip and the removedapks.zip, and removed zeamlauncher (since ADW replaces it), to produce what I'd call cm-7-HROARK-beta5-FULL.zip, with the "Full" meaning "not having the apks removed from it".;)

Flashing this would install both the removed apks AND cm7 all in one fell swoop.

...Unfortunately, I don't have any place to upload it, nor do I know if doing that would result in my stepping on hroark or anyone else's toes. Plus, blooddawn's method is probably easier at the stage you're at.

READ EVERYTHING BEFORE STARTING YOUR INSTALL!

I am doing this for you guys because I do not think that Hroark would mind since he left his links up for us to use. You need to get this now because if he contacts me and says remove it, you can best believe I will take it down immediately.

This is the full version of CM7 with the ADW launcher. All removed apk's have been added back including the theme installer. I advise using the non-ext. kernel by Kato and using S2E. If you decide to use the themes, your phone will more than likely lag if you do not.

CM7 FULLY LOADED
CM7LoadedthankyouHroark.zip

Here is a TUT on how to install S2E.

OK, flash CM7 then go in to CWM and do a factory reset, clear cache, then clear the Dalvik cache. Reboot and give the phone time to fully boot up.

Add the Kernel to your sd card, then go back in to CWM and flash the kernel. Here is the kernel to use. Reboot after you flash the kernel.
katokern_b0.4cm7-no-ext.zip

After you have rebooted, give the phone a minute to fully boot up then go back in to CWM and format you sd card. If you are running anything below a 4gig card, select 1024m as the partition. For 4gigs and up I suggest using 2048m as your partition. You will not need anything larger than that I would think. Always select 0 as your swap. Format the card and let the phone completely boot up.

Then sign in the the market and download S2E. Open the app, tap the bottom left tab of your phone and it will open up the S2E settings. Make sure that all the boxes are checked then reboot. After you phone has booted back up, open S2E and check all the boxes except data/data. You phone will run faster when it's not checked. Go ahead and reboot your phone again.
You're done. Go enjoy CM7 on your Prevail (thanks to Hroark) and make sure to hit the THANK YOU tab on the very first post of this thread!

Thank you Hroark for leaving your links up.

Folks I've unnapproved the complaint posts, for now. The administrator and owner are currently reviewing the situation. If you'd like to address the staff, please feel to do so privately, in our "chat with our staff" section.

Thanks!

Good to see you again Steven. Thanks, I think we all could have handled the situation a little better than we did.

Thanks very much for the help. I'm going to do this and report back. BTW CM7 does run well on the Prevail, You have to manage the fancy stuff to keep battery drain down though. I have had it about a week and it is stable so far. I have read that there is an RC version out, I wonder if it will work for me or should I stick with the beta.

Thanks again for the help Wetbiker7 and Kudos to Hroark13 and all involved for this cool rom.

What?!

Is this Release Candidate a separate ROM from Hroark's CM7b5? If so, do you have a link?

I'm back with an update.
After flashing the full CM7 to my prevail, I have succeeded. I have been running it and playing around with the vast number of new settings and this is the coolest my phone has been since I bought it. The battery drain issue has been solved and I get over 24 hrs. of heavy use before a recharge. I have new themes now and there a lot of nice ones I have yet to try. I have to wait until I upgrade my phone to run CM9, but that won't be long. I'm looking at that Kyocera Hydro with ICS to mod with CM9. The revies look good accept it doesn't do 4g which we don't have here with Boost anyway.

Thanks to all involved in the making of this cool mod.

I was using the cm-7-HROARK-beta5 and didn't have theme support. I flashed the full beta version to get the ability to use ADW themes. I saw something about a CM7 RC, but have yet to find a copy to try. the link to the full CM7 beta 5 is on this page up above. read the whole thread to know what it has in it that the other one doesn't.

Just tried to download this app in the market, before loading this rom, to partition the SD card beforehand. Market says it's incompatible. Anyone have a compatible version that works or do I have to have this rom loaded first to be able to download it?
