Root CyanogenMod 7 Unofficial Beta 5 02/20/12

how do some of you do it to get perfect signal and fast 3g? highest speed i got was 602kbps download and 698kbps upload. and like -96dbm for signal and thats just in some places. i used to get near 2 mb with shabbymod. as for signal anywhere near my house i get -106 dbm.

oh i also tried the hotfix 2 and i got fcs on facebook and some other apps. as for the gps it locked on right away.

Hey everyone, just wanted to say I am loving the new CM7 by Hroark. I am running hotfix2, s2e, updated adw, and have the new 3.1pre108 wifi tether running. Having only a couple of issues with fc's after reboot, but a simple retore data+app from titanium cures that right on up. Thank you Hroark for all that you do

what theme is that ?

was that installed via an apk file?

is there any difference if we install cm7 v3.5 from the froyo rom with ej06 baseband opposed to installing from gingerbread rom with ej06 baseband

Jußt got this theme sick changes a lot of things I like it

well inorder to make the rom lighter you will have to remove apks. For an example terminal emulator is included in cm7 that can be downloaded by the user. it all depends on what services the user needs as well that's why i said to include a RemovedApps.zip. I Doubt every user uses a vpn so therefore vpnservices.apk would be unnecessary to them. but it all depends on the user

point is taken... however I think that if Hroarks ultimate goal is to gain official support for CM7 then it would need to be as close to the original as possible...

nope

i ask this because im having problems with my 3g speeds. i first flashed cm7v3.5 from the gb rom. had no performance problems and after i flashed hotfix 2, i checked my 3g speeds and had a speed of 1mb without any mods. i tried applying the mods and that dropped my speed down to 200kb and i couldnt get s2e to work. i flashed it again today to try to fix these and i went to the froyo rom then just upgraded to the ej06 baseband. i tested my 3g speeds right now and now i have a speed of 3.5KB/s . OMG im going to try to flash cm7 again from the gb rom but wanted to ask if anything else can affect it

not sure if that is gonna happen

I had to mod 2 files that normally should not be modded, and being I am not a coder, I probably did it in a dirt hack type of way

I had to MOD this file from the start to get the MEID to show, I could not get CM to work with the new RIL file, so we are still using the Froyo RIL
https://github.com/hroark13/android...ndroid/internal/telephony/cdma/CDMAPhone.java

With the new kernel the battery/power status was not being read along with other issues, but I modded this file to be able to get battery/AC to work

https://github.com/hroark13/android...ces/jni/com_android_server_BatteryService.cpp

I dont think they will want to adopt the changes

what mods are you talking about

what mods are you talking about

i used the ipv4 script from the other thread about getting 3g speeds of almost 2mb. but my problem wasn't these mods. i checked my speeds without the mods straight from installing cm7. they were at 3kb/s. right now i odin'd back to the gb rom with ej06 baseband and will install cm7 again in a few minutes. will posts my results in a bit

Once we get out of beta status, I will try

I still have some issues I would like to fix and I have a lot of clean up to do

When I was trying to get everything working you take a lot of the settings from the stock ROM and other places and use them in your prop files and init.rc scripts I want to remove stuff that is not needed

I would also like to put the optimized setting so people dont have to use 3g super charger and ram scipts, but I would like to know for sure that these settging are actually doing something

idk wat happened, but coming from the gb rom with ej06 baseband and a fresh install of cm7 with no tweaks, i am getting a speed of 220kb/s. now i can live with this opposed to 3kb/s, but i would like faster speeds. can anyone confirm something that does work? i cant tell if the ipv4 script actually does work on this rom, can someone confirm this or share what they do

testing your 3G speeds is very erratic

I always try to do it very late at night like 3:00 A.M. when no one else is on the network, and try to do it in good weather conditions, from the same location

i would get way better speeds on shabbymod. now i get 250kbps.

dont know if anybody else is getting this but with s2e when you reboot a couple times the settings on the phone dont stick i have to toggle airplane mode
reboot in airplane mode then toogle off just to get the settings to work again

well to use this kernel, we need to use the ej06 baseband

when i try ee14 baseband with this kernel it bootloops on me

we are using the RIL files from the Froyo ROM because I could not get CM to work with the new RILfiles

can some people test this new kernel for CM

I cleaned up the init.sph-m820.rc considerably

it seems to work fine for me, but I may be missing something
