MMS still not working right over wifi and I cant figure it out, Built in WiFi Hot Spot still does not work and I dont think it ever will because the dhd.ko does not seem to like that, so just use wireless tether

I gave up on trying to use the CM camera.apk, and I am using the MIUI camera apk (Blooddawn provided this solution a long time ago, but I wanted to try and get the CM camera working right, thanks Blood)

I tried to slim this down and tried to squeeze as much performance, but all these changes did not make too much of a difference

I removed most of the Gapp applications, and some of the built in CM apps

I guess in a way I tried to mimik some of the stuff Blooddawn has did with CTMOD

It seems his ROM is more popular, so maybe with these changes more people will like my ROM

I think lots of people like your rom, I think the main reason bloods has more users is because everything works correctly, and as yours is got little glitches some cant deal with or dont have the time to deal with.

I really like the cm7 myself.:)

I spent a lot of time trying to get the MMS over wifi fixed, and it kicked my butt,

I need a Linux networking expert to look at it, I think it has to do with the way ppp works
 
I freaking LOVE your ROM! The only reason I would use bloodawns is because his doesn't have these little problems. I think you should continue on trying!

EDIT:
And just so you know, not trying to hurt you or anything, but I don't think you should try to go for what bloodawn has. Maybe after you finish up all the little glitches and release a fully (or pretty much fully) CM7 port you can make these little tweaks, but now I wouldn't think so.

Adreno 200 is the GPU (graphics processor unit)

settings for the Eagle config is in /system/lib/egl/egl.cfg

I changed the file

FROM

0 0 android
0 1 adreno200


TO

0 0 adreno200

This should make the GPU do all the 3D graphics processing
and mayabe offload some of the work the CPU is doing

I am not seeing any significant changes in bench scores

So who knows?

Well when I originally started this I did not include gapps in the ROM

So now it basically just has market, and people can add what they want.

I seem to like the Zeam launcher more than the ADW

Having the ROM de-odexed, I am just not sure what is better, it only seems to make a difference on first boot, so I dont know.

The camera APK, should have been changed a long time ago

The data2sd kernel with smaller modules is something I came up with

Adreno200 egl config I learned from the net from some other phones ROM, it should improve performance

The init.d scripts are some of the ones other people are installing in other threads, and CTMOD has them as well

Lets see how it goes with beta 5

I am willing to make changes and put things back if you guys / gals want them back

THE MAIN THING IS THE MMS OVER WIFI

if someone can give me a list of issues that need to be fixed, that are not listed in the OP that would be great

The built in wifi hotspot is not gonna be fixed unless we get a new dhd.ko driver

The hidden menus and updating prl and profile will never be added, and you wont see too may CyanogenMod ROMs out ther that support these proprietary functions

I tried re-flashing and starting totally new but couldn't seem to get rid of one problem. Every time I got a notification message from any app the pull down would freeze and was un-useable wouldn't be able to access the app that was giving the notification or clear any notifications. I could sometimes clear single notifications if there was more than one app that had a notification but there was always one that would remain even if I accessed that particular app to check/remove the notification.

Your rom is pretty popular judging by how many people are using it and testing it. I think the word

try beta 5 and see if it still happens, do not install any mods or apps before testing this

I think you are the only person having this issues, so it may be something you are installing
 
Great job with Beta5 Hroark..i really like how light it is..doesnt have as much stuff..allows you to be able to kinda start from scratch ..add what you want..seems really quick..just ran first quad..almost 1800
 
Dont be so down on yourself i like your rom like eryones been sayin its still in beta. CM7 Ports are no easy task and your prolly the top dev on the prevail thread in my opinion and erytime you release an update i flash it just to see whats new when you have a stable rom i will def be switching to cm 7 permanently. Keep up the good work H. CM7 will prevail.

I visit these forums almost daily...but havent posted in awhile. I have been using CM7 exclusively since beta 2b. The glitches I experience are the same as others...and Im west coast (Nevada) so all the east coasters always post first, and I dont want to burden this thread with too much bloat...seeing how long it is anyway. Just makes it harder for those looking to find answers to legit problems. At beta 3, I dropped back to 2b wich ran smoothly for me, but beta 4 has been great. I experience a little lag with your system to sd ext from time to time, and the first run on some apps force close. Usually a restart of the app only, is enough to solve the problem. It may be due to the fact that Im using a 2gb partition instead of the 1gb recommended, but I have a 16gb class 10 card that I've never come close to filling even when I had more that 100 apps on dt's app2sd. Love the amazon faotd. Cant seem to stop downloading that junk...lol.
Anyway, the real point of this post is to tell you THANKS again, and that you are appreciated by alot of folks who don't always take the time to post, and the forum will allow only one click of the thanks button to let you know. Enjoy the coffee.

Man .... ya see what happens when I decide to wipe my computer and take a break from the internet for a minute ......... a CM7 update comes out ! :D:D:D:D:D Installing now . Thx again Hroark !!
 
So for no problems with mms on WIFI...And my actual camera button to take snapshots works also..running really smooth and quick..Hroark is there a way to get the Tmobile theme engine back? Without flashing all the other ditched apks

@ Johnny , download the uninstalled apps file , unzip to desktop and add what u want to phone . Just transfer the apk files that you want to add to your sd card then install . ;)

Messaging is working over wifi , I just can't send pix . Everything else seems to be working great . Wow !! We've got quite a bit of space on the rom now . Getting ready to add Titanium backed up apps to phone . Gonna be testing all day . I'll letcha know what I find if anything , Hroark .

Im not really down on myself, I am just upset because I spent a lot of time yesterday trying to to fix the MMS over WiFI and I failed miserably.

I started to feel like this thing will never be done and fixed.

I want to move on to other projects, but I dont want to leave this incomplete either

do you know how many smiles that you've put on people's faces just for even attempting this project ? I loved running Bloods CTMOD but I'm the type of guy that likes to mess with his phone all day . CM7 is for me . If it wasnt for you , I wouldn't have the opportunity to be running it . Thank you . :D
 
Hey Hroark...i was able to send pics on mms over wifi..allthough it had taken about 40 minutes to get from me to reciver..also im having trouble geting theme chooser apk and theme manager apk installed using root explorer..would you reccomend another way to install those two files?
 
Same here hroark . I tried to transfer and install the apk's for the theme chooser and they will not install . Any insight as to why they will not install ? Are there other apk's that need to be installed other than the theme manager and theme chooser in order for these to work ? THX

Note : I've actually got Theme chooser and Theme chooser wallpaper to installed . I just can't get the manager to install . The correct path to install the manager apk is system/ apps correct ? I'm still gonna work on it but I sure would like your input .
