Root {DISCONTINUED}MegaTron 6.2.5 (Updated 7/13/13)

First of all, I want to say thank you for making this phone better by the day. I am simply amazed by the pure brillance and effort you guys put into this phone. So thank you. I also have a couple of questions. What would you recommend as a setting for overclocking? Over clocking is a first for me. I was also curious if anyone used a sd booster. I remember using one for the prevail back in the day. If so, any suggestions on a booster and what settings do you use? Thanks again.

Yeah i use rom toolbox pro or you can use any sd booster you would like. I use 2048 kbs but you can play with it to see your best results :)

I do believe this ROM already comes with the sd boosted to 2048.

If this helped in any small way, don't forget the thanks button.

Dont go over 1.5Ghz or your phone will go into ramdump mode.

Sprint.

EDIT: I followed the instructions at this thread about changing the filenames, and nothing so far, but I'll keep an eye on it.

EDIT2: No go, the notification's back. Though the instructions at the thread linked above do mention letting the update attempt to install. I'm a little nervous about doing so since I've got my phone the way I want. (don't want the Samsung update undoing everything)

Change the build.prop to the updated version numbers. That will solve the update issue.

Back up using CWM, flash the update, advanced restore > restore data from the backup you made just before flashing.

EDIT: Also, you can use Titanium, so long as you know what you're doing and only restore the apps and data you know are from Megatron 6.0.x

Will do!

is there anyway to have theme automatically reinstall when flashing update instead of manually flashing it? also would link2sd basically make titanium backup obselete for megatron which btw is the best and only rom needed for transform ultra

To get the theme to install alongside the ROM, you would need to combine the two zips, which isn't just a simple drag-n-drop procedure; certain files would need to be edited to tell CWM to flash all the files, and not just one set or the other. So essentially, doing things this way, there would have to be 4 or so releases of Megatron just to get the theme to flash with the update. I agree that from an end-user standpoint, it does add a few steps to have to flash the ROM manually after an update, but from a dev's standpoint, it would mean having to re-code and maintain at least 4 different files to make sure they ALL get updated (which means either one theme gets missed and is still running old code, or something gets broken in one or more in a rush to try to update each version with each ROM), versus the way it is now, where Chev/Mav just update the one.

As for Link2SD, I don't think it does make Titanium unnecessary, because as far as I know, Link2SD doesn't move everything to the SD; it just uses the partition as an extension of the internal memory; so when one gets wiped, the other does too. However, I don't know enough to say for sure, so I could be wrong. :p

Your right xaelith... It's just not possible to maintain it that way. The way it is is the way it has to be. sorry to add steps for every update..

link2sd will never replace titanium backup imo. TB is smart and detects where the app is installed on.. if you backup all your apps while they are on your sd-ext, it will make note of that and restore them to the same place/state they were before.

@xaelith, yes link2sd does move the app to your sd-ext entirely. it then creates a symlink from the app (installed on the sd-ext) to the internal memory in order to make android think it is installed on your internal memory and function normally..
It's not possible to truly extend the internal memory because internal and sd-ext are two different partition blocks copletely..

@Dmcjr22, use TB.. its the best backup in existence for apps and just use link2sd to move apps

Thanks guys for the New Update! I also agree that being able to get updates OTA is so cool! When I first booted up the New boot sound scared the hell outta me LOL!! The usb plugin sound is gr8 too, I thought I short circuited the phone LMAO!! You guys almost gave me a heart attack! But now I know & It's pretty awesome. Thanks again guys!

@chevanlol360, I'm really loving the OTA thing bro.. That was a great idea to add that

Thanks Im working on a better OTA service, just working out a few problems.

Is that exactly true Chev, I mean I've always been told to wipe /cache and /dalvik-cache after flashing a new theme...

True you should always do that as well but i've flashed themes so many times without wipe the cache or dalvik and nothing ever really happen to my device.
