Root DL30 Touchwiz Froyo at xda

You should have cleared data I hope you dont get problems later on :)

All the easy spots with problems seem fine: Google Mail, Market, Contacts, etc. ROM Manager needed a reinstall for some reason (It just disappeared from the drawer).

I might have eeked by because I did the DL30 leak first, then Supah Clean Froyo...

Only thing killing me is getting boot animations back on :(

Yeah we need custom kernels for that and we need kernel source for that

So as you can probably tell from my above posts, I'm not terribly experienced (or good) at all this. So far I've managed to figure out/fix all the problems I've created, but I'm stumped by this one. For some reason, the android market is refusing to install anything. The download graphic appears in the status bar, and the progress bar fills, but once an app is downloaded it just stops - no install. I've tried deleting the market's updates, clearing it's data, etc., and it's had no effect.

In the worst case, I'll just re-flash and cross my fingers, but I'd really rather avoid having to do that again. Anyone have any insight into the problem?

When you get market that wont DL also double check if your google talk insta closes, I bet it does. When this happens [I've had it twice] the only true solution I found was the data wipe as cache clears and the like never worked for me. Sorry for the bad news. Perhaps someone else knows better I dont

Actually, Google talk works flawlessly. I'd read elsewhere that it might be an issue with a service used by that app whose data could be cleared, but no joy.

yeah the market seems to be down for most of us, good thing you waited it out m2m

Mehh. So I understand its a non-voodoo switch... yeah not willing to give up Voodoo just yet. Also I heard that tethering on 2.2 update might be monitored? Yeah not giving that up either.

2.2 stock is almost as fast as 2.1 voodoo and jt was close on voodoo tonight fingers crossed for tomorrow

After using it for the day, what are your thoughts on the battery life? It's the lack of the correct radio that is allegedly supposed to cause shorter life, right? How would you rate it?

I've been running it for a few days....and in general battery life is noticeably worsen....probably due to the radio issue....all in all its still usable just not as good as you may be used to on an underfoot kernel

Yeah we need custom kernels for that and we need kernel source for that

So, does Sammy usually release the kernel as soon as the OTA is pushed? Or do they need a knock on the door from the EFF or someone?

Not that not having a boot animation kills the deal, but man, I don't understand how the Sammy logo can be there, but not a custom one (This is not being berating to anyone, I honestly don't understand where the Sammy Logo is).

I've seen that as well. 2.2 stock is pretty damned fast.

Thanks :)

Could an old radio be a culprit for pushing the CPU to 100%? That's what I noticed: The CPU pushes to 100% (Periodically), and starts gulping battery.

sammy is all over the place with releasing source for ota's...apparently dl09 was up fast (less than 2 weeks)...sometimes it takes them forever and devs have to contact them and hound them for awhile...ideally they would release it immediately after the ota...so we ll see

the radio is whats most likely causing poorer battery life...and time without service is higher....but we wont know for sure until we get a new one to compare it to

Samsung has put kernel source out pretty quick recently. DL09 source was up within a week of the OTA starting and I think continuum source for DL17 was up before the OTA even started.

I think not having a radio leak is probably a portion of our battery issues. Time without signal has jumped up a little bit for me.

you said it better :)

Running this since last night (DL30 Superclean v0.7). Anyone else seeing Quadrant scores around 1000?

I hope the browser in the leak isn't what's in the final version... the lack of text size options or pinch-zoom buttons is a step back.
