Doctor Who

Let's ask.....

Are there any objections to a lifting of the
requirement on DOTD discussion? Speak now or forever be spoiled! :)

Just stick a temporary warning into the title that there are DOTD spoilers and ditch the hide tags, I say :)

Zygons are a classic monster from the episode "Terror of the Zygons," a Tom Baker adventure. I have the book.
It was cool to see them again.

But they left out what happened with the zygons. Are they now peacefully living among humans? If so, what if a human accidentally dates a zygon? Will the zygon have to turn down the human because that was agreed in the treaty?
Are we done with spoiler tags yet?

I think we're all chomping at the bit and fair warning is given.

I don't think that they left anything out.

There are always things left unrevealed. :)

I was surprised at the price - $6 on the Play Store! But I'm saving so much by dropping pay TV, I really didn't mind.

Waiting a day was just about more than I could bear though. :p

PS - sure you want to date a zygon?

I'm just going for it :p

Ok, so what did the end mean? I'm so confused by that
I'm assuming the planet was Gallifrey. I interpreted it as 1 through 8 was appreciating their home planet as they known always existed, though 8 and 8.5 may have appreciated it in a state of peace. 9 through 11 appreciated it as it it's return. And now begins a journey to find where they stashed the "cup of soup".

Truthfully I think the writers/Moffat wanted 1 more tug at the strings of the hearts of Who fans. :p

Personally I think the scenes may/should have been presented on a slightly different order.
The ending scene in the museum, where 11 meets the curator, should have come after the zoom out of all 12 Doctors starting at Gallifrey.
Then it would make a bit of sense, as all of them will not remember what changed about Gallifrey after returning to their original time, and having met each other all at once. With the exception of 11 of course.

I mean if zygons plan to get rid of humans by reproducing with humans and getting rid of pure humans then maybe there's a part of the treaty where they're not allowed to do so...they left it out and it feels like there's very little connection between that episode and the episodes before it. More like unrelated to the whole series 7 to me.

I mean the whole series 7 was about the impossible woman, but not that episode.

I assumed that the Zygon plan had been simple conquest - humans could be servants after that, providing their required level of comfort. Should have been more of them though.

Post settlement, we don't know. The writers can show us when they have a plot idea that suits them. Maybe Moff has an idea, but I suspect it'll be a while before we know whatever the truth.

Ok, so what did the end mean? I'm so confused by that

You mean Tom's spot? I think that's best left unresolved. A human whose face the Doctor took in an earlier regeneration (maybe briefly glimpsed, imprinted in his subconscious)? A later Doctor who did indeed retire to curate a museum, and somehow took on a variant of an earlier form? Some timey-wimey crossing of possible histories? Nope, any clear explanation would devalue it - best as it is, leaving a bit of mystery.

If you meant the bit with a line of Doctors looking into space/at the planet, I just took that as some metaphorical image, a marking of the history so far, and didn't regard it as part of the plot at all.

It bears remembering that this was TB's first appearance in tv Who since he was replaced by PD. As such 'The Curator' words take on a whole different meaning. ;)

Remember Cassandra.

Pure humans not happening is a known event.

Well, a Zygon can take any form of any living creature.

I might actually date a Zygon if it took Megan Fox's form :o :p Then there's the fun of it taking any woman's form hahaha

Perhaps we should let Zygons be Zygons. :D
