Droid X Vs. Incredible

I had the DINC with the 2150 battery and I was lucky to get 8 hours out of it. I"m at 8 hours now on my X with the same apps and same setup and I have 50% left...

I get far better than that on the stock 1300 Mah battery, not sure what was wrong with your Dinc phone...or bad apps maybe(?)
*My Dinc battery life has gotten substantially better after the charge/discgarge cycles I have put it through the last month.
Hopefully the Moto X will get better life as the battery is cycled over the next month, we'll see. The Dinc was down to 83% tonight while the Moto X was at 40% battery.
(Both phones had the same useage time and came off charging with full batteries at the same time)

I dunno. All I can say is that VZW went through 2 phones and 4 batteries trying to figure out what it's deal was before they swapped me out for the X and nothing changed anything. I have the exact same apps downloaded on my X and the home screens setup the exact same way and my battery life has been roughly double that of the DINC...

Side by side, AMOLED on both the Samsung Captivate and the Dinc are FAR, FAR , FAR Clearer, Sharper & Vibrant than the Moto X's LCD display.

Been there, done that tonight.

Thats why I didnt wanna start the LCD vs. Amoled thing....lol I will concede "vibrant" but not clearer and sharper. From what I've seen, I dont see Amoled being sharper or clearer. Pentile Matrix. Did u turn the X display brightness up some?

Turning up the brightness helps with viewing outside. It might help with viewing for clarity, sharpness.

Ahh - you must have done something wrong.

I can get over 24+ hours with a 1500 mah battery - that's with medium use.

I can get 40+ hours with light use :D:D

The fact that My battery life is so dramatically different on the X tells me that the DINC was the problem...

I used my friends yesterday. Loced it but the biggest difference for me was the accessories. The car dock was a hundred times better. Made me a little angry.

Any argument with Sense... it doesn't compare to LauncherPro. In terms of UI, the playing field is perfectly level.

I don't agree. I owned the dinc and loved it. However, having using launcher pro, I feel my experience is more customizable than with sense ui and I can see my homescreen horizontally if I want to. Do I need to? No. Do I want to have the freedom to customize if I want? Heck yeah. After all, I'm a Android person not an Apple person.. Customization and freedom? I value it very highly. Having said that, I Love sense and have customized my homescreen with the beautiful widget home and with the agenda pure calendar widget that scrolls. I find that calendar widget superior because I can MAKE THE FONT BIGGER!!!! Which is important for my aging eyes. (Shut up.. don't make fun! ;))

So, I love my X. I think I can live with this for a year or two. Perfectly happy. Do I still love the dinc? Heck yeah. It's one of the finest phones in the world. I had my sisters Incredible in hand yesterday. Fine fone.

Excellent comments on battery life. Regarding jagged letters, companies have only given part of the story when it comes to their screens (that includes tv manufacturers as well). Knowing the pixel count is fine, but pixels per square inch would be better. I believe that the droid, di, and dx all have the same amount of pixels, or pixel ratio, but if you have to spread the same amount of pixels over a larger area, you've decreased the "true" resolution. While apple should have given the iphone a bigger screen, they at least crammed in a lot more pixels per square inch, giving the screen and much higher resolution and therefore sharper images. Now if they'd just fix the screen size, phone, flexibility, deathgrip on development, and five or six other things, I might consider one.

If the i*hone 4 gets FroYo and a CDMA2000/EvDo radio within the next few months, I'll consider it :D
Otherwise, I would like the X, but the encrypted bootloader switched me to the Inc. I ordered it on 7/16. The DInc has FroYo already. The X won't get it 'til who knows when. CyanogenMod 6 RC1 + ADW.Launcher + Snapdragon = awesome, just wish it had an OMAP3630. I hope the final CM6 has a repartitioned NAND chip, though. Instead of ~7GB after partitioning with 512MB for system/apps and 6.5GB for a second pseudo-SD card, why not 1GB swap and 6GB for system? No Apps2SD necessary, just a 12x larger system partition. Photos and music can go on the SD card. Those things come in up to 32GB, you know.

IMO they are both really cool quality devices. However, I prefer the Incredible. The X is a bit to big, the buttons on the bottom feel really flimsy, and I really do not like motoblur. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but the Incredible is the best phone out there. Just my two cents.

For me, the Dinc is the perfect size. I just can't justify any screen size
increase resulting in an increase in phone size, as compared to the Dinc.
It's the perfect balance of size/screen/speed/interface for me.

One thing people seem to be knocking on the X is that the bottom buttons are buttons, not soft keys. I screwed around with a friend's Ally the other day, and if the hard buttons are similar to the Ally's (they look like they are) I would take them over the buttons on my Eris or Moto any day (My DInc is being shipped, has to pass Wirefly's "Quality Assurance Team" whatever that means.) One big plus for the hardware buttons is recovery, Koush and co. (not to knock other recoveries, I just really like ROM Manager) would be able to work with up/down plus five others (maybe select, back, main menu, and 2 others) which would be a big improvement over the DInc's up/down/power/click setup (I assume click is select and power backs up a menu?) but the encrypted bootloader and eFuse say "no" to that, as does the previous experiences with the Milestone. I do like that "click" though, beats haptic feedback any day.

Birdman tweeted yesterday that the protection is the same as the Milestone and the eFuse is not active on the X

My X is on the way. Freedom of choice, that's what its all about. I'll be keeping the Incredible, just want to check out the X factor.

Hmm, not sure how to help you there. Must have been user error.

Myself and others get absolutely fantastic battery life. :D :D

It's active - just meant that it might not 'brick' the phone. But still makes flashing/rom impossible. Root is still likely which is nice though.

But sorry man. The top gurus in developing have already written off the Motorola X. It will never be able to upgrade FLASH or ROMS, no matter how much your bird tweets.

This means that you will never be able to self upgrade to Gingerbread if Motorola takes to long, or decides not to give it out at all.

Other sweet custom ROMS from future phones - you will be left out too. Developers are jumping ship on Motorola like it's the Titanic. Not a good sign for the future.

How the Droid X is locked down? Let me tell you what I know.

Friend at school just got his X... OMG that is sooooo much bigger than I thought it would be. Not a chance in any way shape or form would that phone ever appeal to me. So on sheer size alone. DINC wins.

I'd have to agree with you on Launcher Pro. I downloaded it for my boyfriend on his Ally and found myself instantly jealous that he could view his homescreens in landscape. I'm considering installing Launcher Pro but I think I might just love Sense too much.

I mean it works for him and all, considering the Ally needs to be turned that way to use the keyboard. I just wish Sense could do that too!

Yes, it does. That clock looks absolutely horrendous to me! :D I also don't care for the dock. I just find Sense much more visually appealing.

While it would be nice to view my screens in landscape, I don't really use my phone in landscape much because of swype.

I used Launcher Pro and went back to Sense. Launcher Pro kept force closing on me. so for me it wouldn't be a real solution.

there is something to be said for something that has been QA'd by a real company like HTC vs a small developer. it's not impossible for a small guy to do something great, but Launcher Pro just wasn't 100% to me

I guess you haven't held the X, Incredible and Samsung Captivate(4" AMOLED) side by side playing the same HD YouTube videos.

The Sharpness, clarity and color vibrancy aren't even in the same ball park with the regular LCD screen on the Droid X as compared to the AMOLED on the Captivate or Incredible, not anywhere close.
