Froyo 2.2 OTA is just around the corner

Does anyone know if Vegas laid odds? If not, anyone want to open some betting? :) I am taking NO they won't make it by end of summer and for over under I am taking OVER 7 days late. :)

I think they will, because if they dont, a whole lot of X owners will be returning their X's after 30 days claiming false advertising.

They would have to be stupid not to.
 
You know when I had a Blackberry and there was all this craze over OS 5.0 coming out, that was understandable, because there were supposed to be some decent changes, and people were sick of 4.7. BUT, Our Droid X runs awesome on 2.1 lol... there is no reason to get all bent out of shape because of a couple changes. If my phone sucked or I was seriously unhappy, then fine. If someone is really that unhappy with their X, I ASSURE YOU, it is NOT because they don't have 2.2 yet. It's not like it's a whole revamp of the Android OS. Bunch of whiners is all it is. None of you are developing the OS here, and none of you know what problems are going on. Let me tell you, it's not easy working the kinks out of a new OS and all the bugs that come out of it. And shit, go get the leaked 2.2 if you are bitching that much.
 
I just rooted and installed 2.2 today. Easier than I had expected with no problems installing 2.2.
 
I am going to predict that Oct 1st will be the soonest anyone gets their official OTA update.

In all seriousness I just can't wait for the performance increase to what is already a great phone.

I am happy with my 2.1.

But who isn't looking for better performance?

If I told you there was a software update for your car to give you more MPGs you'd want it too!

Hey Dr. (to be?) You do realize that you just called the 200,000+ Droid X owners that aren't going to return their phones after 30 days (claiming false advertising) STUPID!

That's a bedside manner that will endear you to your patients....
 
I believe he meant Verizon would be stupid not to release it by end of summer seeing as people may return their phone based on false advertising. Not calling the people who won't return their phone stupid.

But, i could be wrong....it won't be the first time.
 
I don't think there is anything in the purchase agreement/contract about froyo being released by a certain date. No reason they would have to take returns of the X after the normal 30 days. Buyers could take them to court... can't see that it would be worth it to do that though...

Yeah, after rereading his post, that's a possibilty.

In any case, I'll be keeping my "X" and waiting for the release of 2.2. Doesn't matter to me whether it's a day, week, or a month or more. I'll wait patiently. Well, maybe a little impatiently.... but I'll wait. I'm very satisfied with my Droid X just the way it is. I'd really like to have flash, but it's not a deal breaker.
