Root Froyo Development

Deeply...are you aware that there is no, "auto-complete" in the msg program? Whenever I type a word...there is only things like names from my contacts.
Is this an easy fix of DL'ing a "dictionary" file from somewhere?
Hope I helped a lil bit...lol

I was able to connect to an open WiFi at a restaurant but I still can't connect to the secure network at home that I was always able to use prior to giving this ROM a try. Gets stuck at obtaining IP.

Also sliding the phone open seems to unlock it which isn't normal.

I'm not getting stuck on obtaining address, mine cycles through scanning>connecting>obtaining>disonnected.

I was actually using it fine just yesterday, but had to reflash today and have not been able to connect to my network.

I have experienced the same "slide open" unlocks phone.

Yeah mine does some cycling as well but I have never seen it connect. It tries to obtain IP then eventually says disconnected. I manually tell it connect again and it'll again try to get an IP and then do the same thing again. But like I said, strangely I had no issues connecting to an open network at a restaurant, so it appears to just be an issue with secured networks, at least on my end.

Anyways, not complaining at all, still thrilled with it so far, just issuing feedback.

Also I guess since we don't have the camera functioning, LED Flashlight apps also stopped working. I do kinda miss that for walking through the house at night. Maybe if we can't get the camera figured out we can at least figure out if any flashlight apps still work or if we can somehow command the LED again.

I was able to connect to my network again. To do it i had to static an IP to my phone. I also took the oppurtunity to set it up for google dns (8.8.8.8) instead of my provider. Once i gave it a static address it connected immediately.

Wireless WPA network is connecting fine with ver 21

I cannot get the GPS to work. Google Maps shows "Searching for GPS".

I still have slow downs with the phone, typing is slow, switching programs is slow.

The phone always thinks it is Roaming (it is on a verizon wireless network which is not roaming)

Battery life is good, unplugd at 1:30pm and it is now 10pm and I'm at 63%

Signal Strength in the about phone is always at -1073741923 dBm 0 asu

When connected via Wireless I'm not seeing the slow down in the phone, Programs are opening fast. If I'm on 3g then I have problems with programs open slowly.
Just tested this and as soon as I disconnected from the wireless network the phone slowed way down. Reconnect to wireless and it is faster then it has ever been.

I have been able to over clock at 748, Quadrant score of 1014.linpack 9.112

Tried WIFI Tether -- Ran a speakeasy speed test while tethered and got download speed of 1.22Mbps and upload speed of .14Mbps

That is odd... i was using my navigator today. I did have to manually turn on the GPS though. When I set Google nav to do it, it just said it was trying to find GPS. I turned it on with the power widget and it switched over to turn-by-turn in about 10 seconds. talked me all the way home.

Been running AOSP21 for awhile now and gotta say very impressed. Thanks for the work Dres.

1. Signal strength reflects as low but does not seem to be a problem
2. Dont know why others seem to have problems with connecting to WiFi, mine works flawlessly - no cycling, no stuck on obtaining IP address. Probably an obvious thing to say, but check your router settings or try a different router and see if the problem follows as I can not emulate this problem. I say this cuz if the fix for some is using a static IP address, it suggests to me a problem with the DHCP server; most likely not the DHCP client.
3. Battery life is awesome awesome awesome. Been unplugged for over 12 hours now and only down to 77%.
4. Occasional lag in phone, but only after the waking the phone from sleep so must be the CPU catching itself up, no biggy.
5. I also see the roaming issue with AOSP21 and when I unselect data roaming I also lose 3g connectivity.
6. When rotating phone, the lock screen unlocks itself with no input.

Anyway, there be my 2cents. I appreciate the work Dres, you rock.

I went in and manually turned on the GPS VIA the power widget and it does not work on my phone. I had updated my phone to ZWC radio before I installed this ROM. Maybe this has something to do with it not working.

I'm very impressed with this ROM. Thank You Dres for all of the work on this. Looking forward to the next release.

Hm I even tried the static IP route just now and still no luck. After it fails to connect, my network on the list shows up as disabled which it certainly isn't. I even logged onto my router control panel on my PC and it still has Android phone recognized on the device list with the correct MAC address that my phone gives me when I go into the advanced WiFi settings screen. Sounds like some people are having success so maybe it's just something on my end. I just want to clarify that this was the same network I always used my Ally on though, and I never went into any of the advanced settings or set up the IP on the phone. Always just entered my WEP code, told the phone to remember the network, and it always worked. So the only change here was flashing this ROM, I don't think it's anything with my router or network. All other computers in the house are still connecting through it just fine.

Edit: Oh also I'm noticing no volume control, dunno if it has been reported yet. Over the last few minutes as people were texting me I was turning my volume down bit to bit so as to not wake up the rest of the house, but every time I got a text it was still blaring loud, until I got all the way down to silent. I don't think the incremental volume levels are working.

The only thing that I am having issues with on AOSP21 is I am unable to open the Android Market. Wiped data and Dalvik cache, flash aosp21, wipe data and dalvik cache, flash gapps, then download the latest market for froyo, installed, but will not open. Tried the old market, and that wont open as well. GPS was a no go as well.

NM I got it figured out, i forgot to wipe the cache and data from clockworkmod, not through the manager.

Well, I thought I'd give it another try once I read about not using the ext partition. Formatted in Windows, reinstalled everything manually, and it all seemed pretty good. That is, until I activated Facebook. Immediately, everything bogged down. I can't run anything without huge delays, fcs etc. Something screwy there, but I can't figure it out.

Maybe AOSP22+ ?

Try using SwiftKey Keyboard. It's better than the normal auto-complete as it is. It learns from the messages you send and makes predictions based off of how you normally type. It cost 5 dollars but I beta test for them so I can send you a .apk for the newest version. Or you can always support the dev and by the application. Either way let me know.:D

Ok, figured out the wifi bug appears to affect WEP encryption and not WPA encryption. Changed the secuirty settings on my router to WEP and am unable to connect. Thought everyone was crazy there for a second lol ;) I've always used WPA so wasn't able to emulate the problem until changing to WEP.

Doesn't affect mine I use wep.

Can someone who has wifi connection issues do:

adb shell

cd /etc/dhcpcd

ls -l

then cd dhcpcd-hooks

ls -l

Paste the output of those here.

I'd also like an output from a stock or custom rom of those from 2.1 too.

It does it on aosp 15 too (that is what I am currently running). I have not had a chance to flash 21 yet.

I was just saying I prefer it this way. I have always hated the unlock screen.
I agree. Why in the hell would I not the screen unlocked when I open the keyboard? Always seemed a bit stupid IMO.
