Galaxy Nexus Battery Life

I have no idea what to expect out of my battery at this point. Now I see some guy posting he's got close to 30 hours, I feel mine is no good.

With the extended battery, after a couple of days, I'd say I'm ranging anywhere from 18-24 hours, depending on use, so lets call it 20 hours. As long as I get through the day, I'm fine....but I'd love to be getting 30 to relieve worry of a battery dying while I'm out and about.

As of right now on my stock battery with it has been on for 13h 25m with 20% left. I've been using Green Power to manage my connections. Also I have my screen brightness low but if needed just switch it to a brighter setting then just remember to bring it back down. I have made several calls, youtube, and medium to light web browsing. The 4G is left on. Also some games were played. On this charge I had the battery drain to about 5% then I charged it.

Prior doing a full drain I plugged my phone in whenever i got the chance and it only lasted really for 5 hours. So far it's been a great improvement. The other night though I had an issue where I had 0 data connection. Called Verizon and they said they had an outage for 4G but my 3G wasn't connecting. Maybe they changed stuff on the phone over night i don't know.

I was getting about 11 hours with semi heavy usage. This was on the stock battery. I am now breaking in my extended battery.

This is at my house where my signal strength is not great . I am between 1 and 2 bars 93 to 100 dmb sometimes 2 as. My Charge actually did better than my Nexus in the signal department :(

I would have great life in a better signal area (like my old house)

Turning off the sync for the Exchange connection seemed to help a lot.

Can't seem to upload a screenshot even after shrinking it.

Ive been using Juice Defender and it seemed to almost double my battery life. But I've been dealing with other annoyances like unlocking the phone and it taking 2-3 min before it reconnects to 3G/4G.

Is anyone else using this?

Oh YAY! Someone ELSE has the same problem with the phone taking awhile to connect to 3g/4g. Looks like my assumption was correct---that Juice Defender was to blame. I uninstalled, and haven't had a problem since.

Several of us commented on that, and other programs since release day. Glad that you verified! :D:D

Hmmm, poor battery life... let's see here... let's install a program that uses battery life to actually report battery life. Seems clear to me! :D:D

ohhh, edit: just like the OG droid days of VZW employees setting up ATK, and causing more problems with battery life! Hahahah.... people were afraid to admit they were using ATK in a bad, but clear way, too!

This is moderate use on my extended battery.

I have been messing around with my phone since i got it a week ago to find out what was killing the battery. I recently got the extended battery and have done 2 full charges while the phone is off. The first day was decent. The second day after the full charge i was at work and right after i unplugged i was on 4g. Within 45 minutes my battery was down 10%. I got home and turned on wifi and have been on wifi since. To give you a little more insight. I am using Juicedefender(not really sure it is helping much) turned off gps and all location services and turned off nfc. Below is my battery life since my 2nd full charge on the extended battery including the 10% drop in 45 minutes while on data.

That really means nothing at all, 4g is WELL known to eat up a battery on EVERY 4g phone.

I just do not understand the battery complaints. You're either not turning anything off that you're not using or you are using it like a laptop (screen always on, constantly working on it) instead of using it like a phone.

So my phone was at 88% before I went to bed. I left it off the charge to see what it would be at in the morning and it was at 78%.

My Droid incredible if I left that thing unplugged not charging at 100% at night in the morning it would be at 40%.

Given I have the extended battery on the nexus so add another 10% and it would still be at 68%.

You need to turn off things you're not using like NFC, bluetooth, wifi-it is still searching wifi access points, turn off GPS, and use auto for your screen brightness.

Well now that i think about it i turned to 3g after its 2nd full charge and did not use data at all and it dropped 10% in 45 minutes. I dont think that is normal....... Take it as you like but the issue definitely seems to be mobile data/verizon for whatever reason. I mean hell the gsm version is one of the top rated for talk time and the verizon version is near the bottom nearly half of what the gsm version is. I understand that LTE is a battery sucker but it seems this phone is especially bad even when just on cdma and they have basically said that it is an issue and being worked on....

I still get 20hrs+ on 3g ;)

I went there today and saw the article about it being updated. On a whim I decided to do some phone comparisons.

They havent reviewed the G Nex yet, but included it in the Bench tool. Overall battery life for the Verizon G Nex doesnt look too good vs. other current phones, including the GSM G Nex. The biggest difference is talk time, vs. the GSM G Nex too. Its surprisingly low compared to other recent phones.

Depending on what you do with this phone, battery could be a real issue out the box. Custom kernels and extended batteries might be some folks friends. Factor in that being in a weak reception area drains the battery too....and one could see why there are battery life complaints.

There's always battery life complaints with these phones, but for some phones it could be more of an issue than other phones. Already seen at least one post at another site where someone mentioned they noticed the battery drained faster while on a call.

I recently exchanged my first Nexus which was having problems with phone calls. The battery life on it was unimpressive, but I chalked that up to LTE and a bigger screen. I chose to "ignore" the issue since my desire for a unlocked boot loader on VZW is greater than abysmal battery life.

Enter Nexus #2.

As soon as I got home, I unlocked and rooted but have not loaded a custom ROM/kernel. It is running stock 4.0.2. I have it wi-fi scanning on with my home wi-fi being the only connection it accepts. If I'm not home, it picks up 4G or 3G as available. I used Google Nav for 30 minutes, played Hanging with Friends for 30 minutes or so and watched half of Christmas Story streamed in HD from YouTube. There was also the standard time on phone calls and texting (perhaps 1 hour combined). I have not connected a charger since removing the phone from the dock this morning.

I think the screen shot speaks volumes. I have no idea what is different about this phone from my previous one, but in just one day I have been quite impressed with battery life. Hopefully the trend continues!

Again, as i will ask with all these photos, can you tell us what the screen on time was and approximately how long you were on each type of connection?

I could probably go 2 days with the extended battery in a 4G area if I let the phone sit idle with it powered on. Now on the flip side, when I used the phone for anything the battery drains extremely fast!!! Is it because it has 2 cores to power?

24hrs in and I'm at 56%. Screen on time is about an hour. And I've been on wifi for about 75% of the time and LTE for the rest. I'll post a shot when it gets lower than 10%.

Light to medium usage. Listening to grooveshark mobile, calls, texts, and Tapatalk.

I split the day between wi-fi and 4G. 4G while I was out running errands and wi-fi while around the house. Screen might have been on for 25% of the time. I put the phone on the charger at 11:30 PM where it still had a 47% charge.

I have the extended battery ordered and should get it next week. I'm hopeful that with it, I'll easily make it a full work day with average (for me) use.

Took it off the charger at noon. Played with it almost an entire 2 hour car ride. Then played with it on and off. It actually went dead at the 5 hour 30 mark, then i threw it on the charger for 30 seconds and the battery was back at 47%...

Notice during the first charge there are points at which i turn the screen off and the battery level starts going back up.........wtf?

I'm getting 75% of battery loss while I sleep. The phone is doing nothing, the screen never comes on, but I lose a lot of battery. I have the phone set for 3G only right now as the area I am in does not have 4G.

I'm going to do the test again tonight, this time with WiFi turned on to see if there is any difference. Does WiFi just need to be turned on, or does it need to be conneced to a network?
