Root GB OTA has started if you are rooted stock please read this

I followed directions to flash the stock recovery. It seemed to go fine, but the OTA fails. If I can still get in to Titanium and Root Explorer, does that mean I did NOT flash the stock recovery?

Thanks.

I don't understand why the OTA fails. And the recovery has nothing to do with superuser access. If you can't update then you should flash back to CWM recovery use the link to the thread I linked earlier and just flash the rom I linked in the OP. Honestly I think that is easier than dealing with the OTA anyways

I did get it to work. I had renamed the otacerts file, so changed it back to otacerts.zip, the OTA worked, and now all I have to do I guess is re root?

I'm new at this, so thanks for patience, and all the posts with help!

Thanks for all the help. I'll follow Scotty's instructions in the morning. You guys have been really great. I've learned a lot today!

I may go for the unroot since I am going to eBay this thing as soon as I preorder the Nexus in a couple of weeks.

again,i would very strongly reccomend not messing with the revolutionary bootloader. its not neccessary, and there is absolutely no advantage to doing it,unless the devices needs to be completely stock for a warranty claim.

sell it as a rooted device, you may even get a lil more out of it that way,or you can flash an RUU to get rid of the superuser app and binary files if you want it to be stock. someone who buys a used device is not going to be able to make any warranty claims anyway,so it will not matter if you leave the revolutionary hboot in place.

you can explain in the item description the device is stock, with an aftermarket bootloader that will make rooting a snap if they some day desire, plus offers extra recovery options if something bad ever happens to the phones operating system causing it to not boot ;)

Glad to see some of you getting the OTA. To get root back you just need to flash a new recovery in hboot and superuser in recovery

Thanks so much for this thread. It saved me a lot of hassle I think. I rooted on Froyo via Revolutionary and then when I saw this thread I replaced the clockwork recovery with a stock recovery as scotty85 indicated (I used 1.70.605.0). I then accepted the OTA update and it worked just fine as far as I can tell. All my data and configuration is still there and I am on 2.3.4. I have gone into HBOOT and it still shows the "revolutionary" HBOOT, but I have lost root ability on my phone. I'm not super knowledgeable about all of this stuff. Could someone explain in detail (please) how I can regain root? Again, thanks so much for the time you guys spend sharing your knowledge. You've already saved me tons of time.

Just flash clockwork in hboot and then flash superuser in recovery

You can find whatever recovery you were using here: http://androidforums.com/thunderbolt-all-things-root/399960-radios-recoveries-hboot-updated-9-24-a.html

Rename it PG05IMG just like you did the stock one. Then flash the superuser.zip in recovery, just like wen you first rooted.

Superuser can be found on revolutionary page,or in the 1st post of the root/unroot thread :)

If I'm rooted the old way (pre-revolutionary) I have to use the link in the first post, right? I also have renamed my OTACerts file so I'm not getting the OTA pushed...but I will get much better battery life on GB, right? Or tell me that I'm wrong and I'll just stay on FroYo (1.70.605) forever - I have no complaints about anything except battery life.

Battery should be better on GB than froyo. I would suggest you flash the rom. It is safer to flash a rom in recovery than anything in hboot IMO.

Still on the white HTC splash screen. Is it normal for it to take this long?
I had the same issue. Tried several times. Finally, I redownloaded from megaupload and it still messed up. Then I downloaded from Multi Upload instead of megaupload. It worked fine.

Hmmm.... That's what the sum is when I check my zip file. Not sure what I'm missing. I tried it two additional times with the same results.

describe your flash process.

for good measure you should:
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache
-wipe dalvik cache
-format /system(not typically included but go ahead to be on the safe side)
